I have the Barnes TSX and i love them. They have the most devastation i have ever seen out of a factory load. I use the 180 gr .30-06. -
Congrats on the deer and nice jacket lol!

im not a member but i have gone to a few of their shoots and loved it there. When ever i have gone i have always been able to shoot plenty and meet some cool people. I would recommend you go there a few times. I haven't gone in 2 years but im sure its as good as it used to be. They were also supper helpful when i first started out in archery.

I want to get to NZ to hunt some of the red stag you guys have over there.

Good thing i am graduating high school in June. The middle school i went to ended at 4:00 so i wouldn't get home until like 6:00 everyday but Friday. -
I had my best archery season in terms of sighting this year in 3J. Once rifle season hit i barley saw any deer. The only time i saw was last Sunday and they were all does.

I think it should be fine as long as you clearly mark everything and the tag numbers are all still easily read.

Congrats on the buck. I would guess the shot was in the lungs.

I have always wanted to hunt the Adirondacks! I think this just convinced me to sometime in the near future.

This is true but he is not with in the 500 feet. I doubt that he is hunting 500 feet from your house but i'm not there so i can only take his word. Also you can hunt as close to the road as you want as long you, any part of your hunting equipment(including shells) or your bullet crosses the road(told to me by an DEC officer).

One was killed in CT after walking through NY so i wouldn't doubt that they can and will go through again.

Ground hunting is good and the way people hunted for very long time before people started hunting in tree stands. I understand your concern about safety which is now a reason why i don't hunt from the ground anymore. When i was with my grandfather when he hunted(always on the ground) we would generally do very well. If you can build a ground blind in the future, it would help a lot if you want to hunt from the ground.

I was doing great during bow season but once gun started i only saw 2 deer the day after opening day.
-
If i was going to shoot a fawn with my rifle then i would aim for either the base of the neck or the heart, but if they are <75 yards then i go for the spot behind the ear. This is only if i have a solid rest while i am shooting.

I have never been checked or anyone else in my family has.
-
I would say they are different. The deer shot it smaller.

I think i am going to try to hang my clothing in the horse stable next to the property i hunt. I have hear that they dont care whats so ever if they smell or see a person on a horse in my area so its worth a shot.

I would have destroyed the hell out of that thing. Now im not sure if they know the property boundary which might prompt me to talk to them first but it sounds like the blatantly went on your land and did all the damage. No matter what the thing is going down weather they like it or not.

I went out today and i didnt see a single deer today let alone a shooter. I got a few good ones passing through on the cam and a couple resident bucks that should be dandies next year. I usually see a good buck every year and i saw one decent one so far but that was when i pulled into the land and not on the stand. The land owner tells me how the deer populations were 15 years ago and before most of the houses came in, from what i understand...waaaay more does but the quality of bucks was just no there.
-
Congrats on the buck! I see that you got a crack at him while hunting in the snow. I have never seen a deer while hunting in the snow let alone shoot one. Im pretty jealous of you right now for that.
-
Im glad to hear someone had some good experiences from there. I have had the opposite luck with him.

During archery i saw tons of deer but once rifle started i only saw 2 does. I think it was mainly due to the lock down phase. Im hoping Sunday will get the bucks moving.
