I say he did great for his second time. Some people don't do that good in years. Obviously there are things that could be improved but its still a great mount. He should be proud of himself.

I didnt get to hunt Saturday but i did hunt Sunday and only saw a single doe.

Ill be missing out on the opener for the third year in a row but ill get out on Sunday to at least get to hunt opening weekend.

I usually don't have any snacks on stand since I load up during breakfast and lunch but I do have a couple Oreo or nature valleys just in case.

If you have a Doe Tag, are you going to use it opening day or wait?

I don't think I will because from what i am seeing the rut is really kicking in now. -
I think it will be in full swing with chasing, seeking and maybe a little bit of breading for those really early does.

I have gotten one of those before. I think a hunter might have taken it because I lost track of it once the season opened.

If you hit em in the shoulder they're dropping on the spot. I know people that have shot deer with slugs and deer with a rifle and they always say a rifle round will do more damage then a slug will.

Its looking good in 3J. Its going to be about 4 degrees higher then normal but that shouldn't do anything.

I think im going to pass on this guy if I see him. I might feel different when I see him. I give away most the meat on a buck if I shoot one anyway so meat inst a concern in this situation.

I shot this 10 pointer on my avatar at 11:45 am December 5th 2009 chasing a group of about 7 does. It wasn't an all day sit since i left around 10:20 to eat lunch walk a little. Good thing too because I wasn't on stand for more then 30 min before they came in.

I wouldn't only because I don't want to loose the arrow. If the turkey was roosted on a tree below my stand then i would probably shoot since i would know the direction the arrow went.

I would agree that a 4 year old is 100% fully mature while a 3.5 is quite 100& yet. I also find discussing how to tell the age of a deer is pretty interesting. After using Culvercreek hunt club I determined that he is about 80" and like some about 3.5. I have seen my fair share of 2 1/2 and this guy is bigger and is more muscularly developed.

I thought about it before. I love my rifle too much to put it down for a season. Although I do have deer come into 10 yards when i have my rifle and the exact opposite when i have a bow lol.

I love rages as well. I have watched deer drop with in 40 yards of the shot.

My thoughts exactly! I think the fact that he was close to cams make him look a little smaller compared to his body...but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the guesses guys. I was thinking 3.5 and around 110 as well. I was always told that a 3.5 year old was a mature deer belo, but I could be wrong.

Only saw 4 does and one mystery deer. I was able to stalk up to 15 yards on a doe for the first time but it didn't work out. Im starting to get scrapes and a few big rubs.

I got this great 9 pointer on the edge of a white oak that was still dropping like crazy. I'm 100% positive that this is a mature buck. I know you guys hear this 100 times a season but i would appreciate if you could guess what the score is. I'm hoping ill get a shot at this buck soon. This is the biggest buck I got for this year so far.

I found my first scrape this morning but no rutting activity my way in 3J that I saw. I am starting to see some pics of new bucks and cruising bucks.

Its not too late. Just try too keep it as low-impact as possible. Just get in put in the cam and get out fast.

Why is single doe your last choice? I have only ever used a buck decoy so that's probably what i am going to use.

This is the same thing i was thinking when i saw the conditions. I am only able to get out on Sundays if I can get out so im hoping its going to be great.
