Early in the season, i wouldn't doubt its used both times pretty well

They probably pass through the woods and head straight for the green lawns and shrubs. Its a classic example of how mature forests offer next to nothing in habitat for deer.

My father got a letter from them, but for some reason I haven't. Hopefully we can pass this bill. -
I would think you have to use your bow season tag first, but I've never seen it as a topic of discussion with any of the people I know that hunt 3S and 1C so maybe the order doesn't matter.

Are there any restrictions on quartering and packing out game?
ATbuckhunter replied to uberyan's topic in Deer Hunting
I always hang the deer up also. Only thing I like to do on the ground is to gut it...other then that its always hung up. -

Personally I like to butcher the deer right away after I find it. Ill drag it to the spots that I have set up for skinning a deer and then I skin and butcher the deer in the field. Start to finish takes about 2 hours for me (a little longer for the first one of the season and a little longer if its pretty cold out). Ill never bring home a deer that still has its hide on, because the last thing I want to do is bring ticks home to my family. Sometimes Ill just quarter the deer and bring the quarters home if its late and im too tired to do the butchering there. -
Awesome looking deer

Depends on which one got the biggest buck! That's where I would be. You have plenty of season to go to both fortunately.

I'd bet the deer will be bedding in the swamp and coming to her lawn to eat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Never wore one tbh. I never had an issue with string slap with a compound
-
Exactly! That's how I grip it at least. Mathews has a red stripe going through the center of the grip to help with consistency.

Ya that's a king for sure! Coho's put up a better fight in my opinion. Both taste good when they're chrome like that. -
Safe to say they mean 1 1/2 year old bucks and possibly even 2 1/2 year olds.

So are you ready or do you still have work to do ?
ATbuckhunter replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
I need to hang 4 stands and then ill be ready. The neighbor planted corn for the first time in any spot he could between his apple orchard and grape vines, so im running a few cams there to see how the deer are effected by it. Never hunted near row crops before so im interested to see what happens. -
private land should be good, but unfortunately you probably will have to deal with people trespassing. Good thing is your a local in the area, so they'll get the idea eventually.

I think my friend has gone to New Croton before and I believe he got a doe there as well. But like I said they all get hit pretty hard...especially during the first part of bow season. Its probably filled with guys coming up from NYC and don't want to drive further. Maybe during the week its not too bad.
-
I've heard that those public lands in 3S get hit pretty hard during bow season. They calm down after rifle season starts though.

Both a mild winter and a wet spring will increase antler sizes. A wet spring means a higher amount of quality and easily digestible food which means that antlers should get a boost. Just put my cams out a couple days ago so I'm hoping to catch a couple nice bucks.

Something I have been doing since I was a kid

Running shots are the norm for Europe during their driven game hunts. Used to be a very common way of hunting here too. I used to know someone who shot better at a running deer than a standing one. Last buck I shot 2 years ago was running when I got him. I know I got lucky and scored a heart shot on him. -
Shooter in my books too!

What does that fly imitate? Have you ever tried breathing when your driving and roll all your windows down. Its always harder to -
Congratulations on recieving your Georgia 2017 Alligator permit!!

Thats awesome! Congrats. One thing ill tell you is to leave as early as possible...like 1-3 am the latest. I've done the drive to Florida twice a year for 10 years and that's the best thing we've learned from the drive. -

Went out today for a couple hours. Went to a new place that i hear is good for fluke but I couldn't catch one. I hooked up with one, but for some reason I wanted to give it a second hookset, which only pulled the hook from its mouth. Only thing i caught was a whole lot of sun, which is not bad since ive been inside studying for the past 5 weeks. Hoping to get out Monday or Tuesday. -
