Depends on the year, buys usually I'll start in may. The tomatoes in my yard grow later because I let them germinate from the seeds left at the end of the previous growing season, but my grandparents always start from already started plants so theirs are always bigger at this point in the season. Bass fishing should still be alright right now. North Shore is still producing keepers on chunks at night last I heard. -

Hard to beat salmon fishing in Pulaski! Coho's always seem to elude me though. -
Also zucchini has been producing and ripening well so far this year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Garden has been growing well. The usual suspects have started to ripen. Squash, cucumber, pepper and basil are ripening well as well as some tomatoes starting already. Raspberries have been ripening for a couple weeks so I'm on the tail end of the harvest for that. I got a nice surprise just now and picked the first figs of the season. The biggest one is about 4" across, which is normal for purple figs in early summer. The other pics are my grandparents garden, but for the next 2 months I am the only one taking care of it...and it's a lot of work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Interesting Range Recovery

I heard people would do that with fur bearing species as well. Use a caliber above 375 and use solids, that way it's only one small hole in and out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
All these pictures are making me want to put my trail cams out. Ill probably head up in a few weeks and put them out.

Looks like he wants to go on an African dangerous game hunt, so they don't really want the bullet to expand. They want deep penetration and near 100 percent weight retention. -
Exactly, it only happens with vertical pictures. That's why I like to take pictures sideways, so I can post them here with no problem.

Looks great!

Ahh I see, it looked like it was from a phone to me. Try taking your pics sideways, that way when you post them they wont be posted sideways.

Happy Birthday guys! -
What a great thread! My grandfather on my mothers side got me into hunting and fishing. He lived upstate when I was young and we we would go often to him. I never got anything with him in those early years, but I'm sure it was my fault. After they moved back down to LI I only went out once or twice a year, and some years we got lucky enough to actually get a deer or a turkey. Once I was able to get my own license my passion really took off to what it is today for me. Got my first deer that year and I only hunt with my father, but he was never really into hunting. He says he enjoys it now, but he could be saying that so he doesn't hurt my feelings. My fathers side had some hunters back home in Europe, but both sides of my family were extremely poor farmers. They were poor to the point that being able to buy a gun was a huge luxury. And even then it was only bird and rabbit hunting since there are no deer left in that part of Europe. Now that people have moved to america, many of my cousins hunt and many hunt back home in Europe since we send money back to them. I really hope I can get my future kids interested in hunting and pass along this great tradition.

I've realized that people have nothing better to do than stick they're nose in each others business. I never saw the appeal of doing that. I personally would never take my kids on a bike, but if its not my kid, its not my business.

My grandparents bought land that way and payed an amazing price. I've always been hesitant to buy land that way since you might have issues with previous land owners. Starting bid should be how much is owed on the land (usually 3 years worth of taxes)

Sounds like a fun time to me! Best of luck this season.

If there's any soybeans in the area it'll get hit pretty hard to be honest. Is it possible to put an electric fence around the beans to stop the deer from going in? Then you can open it up a few days before you want to hunt it.

A lot of the mercury can be avoided by cutting out the belly meat in a fillet. While it may be the best part of the fillet, its where most of the contaminants are stored in a fish. -

Funny you should mention that because there is a mulberry tree on the pond I fish as well. I was told when they're dropping the carp won't touch anything that doesn't look like a mulberry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Well I'm a bit younger than many of the people here, but fishing was huge part of my life when I was younger. When my grandparents lived upstate I would go hunting with them often, but when they moved down to LI I didn't do much hunting at all. I did do plenty of fishing though. At that point hunting was a once a year thing but fishing was all spring and summer for me. I feel bad that I made my dad waste so much time doing something he didn't care for. I didn't fish much during middle school (maybe 10 days a year) and fishing really took a back seat once I got my own license to hunt and now that has become my passion. Since then I've fished maybe 8 or so days a year maximum. This year I've already gone more than the last few years combined and I'll probably double that number by the end of summer. I love fishing but once hunting season comes I put the rods away for the winter (with the exception of salmon/steelhead fishing that one weekend a year). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's exactly what I did. Throw a few pieces out and wait for them to take. When you see they're starting to eat the bread, then you throw your fly and wait. You have to really pay attention because sometimes its very subtle sometimes.
