  1. Fox and nice buck rub! Im sensing a second rut coming in soon.
  2. It's equivalent to penetration. Which means that because of the weight retention of copper, you can go to a lighter weight and still have better penetration. And we all want to have good penetration as well as cavitation which the Barnes bullets are known to provide. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. There's plenty of research out there to support that. A good lead bullet will retain maybe 80 percent of its mass. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Well that one went over my head haha. Same results as what i get with TSX bullets.
  5. I don't see a pic. Although im curious to see it.
  6. I think one of the biggest things is being out there. You can't get one on the couch...unless the couch has a good view of where they move. I remember i had to beg one of the landowners of one of the places I hunt to stay more than an hour in the stand and the very next day he killed the 9 pointed I missed the day before after staying till the very last min of legal shooting light. After that id say being able to recognize sign and be mobile. Still number one on the list is luck. You need a whole lot of luck to get a deer.
  7. I also shoot right handed while my left eye is dominant. I don't hunt birds so im not sure if that'll impact wing shooting, but my accuracy with a rifle hasn't been impacted.
  8. A fully mature buck that's still a fork horn is the exception rather than a common thing.
  9. I get where your coming from. I always thought If it makes you happy go for it. But I'm seeing the positive benefits of AR's. I'm not pushing it on anyone, if you read my other comments you'll see I say I'm in favor of them but I don't want to push it on people. You can't deny the results of it though. Even the land owner of he place where I hunt in 3J says he's never seen as many big bucks as he's seen since the AR's were put in place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I would normally say 10 pointer, but depending on the situation ill say point instead of pointer.
  11. Its not easy, but we make due in order to spend time in the country.
  12. I apologize then because when I read your statement, i get the understanding that your saying youth hunters should also follow the AR rules. I think any senior and and youth hunter should be exempt from AR's
  13. Im all for AR's, but we should not force kids to follow it. Let a junior hunter shoot any deer.
  14. Seeing some fresh ones. They rub all through out the rut, with the pre rut and right after peak rut being the peak times for rubbing.
  15. Ill be taking one this weekend if i can. I wasnt planning on it this year, but the land owners wife wants one so that what im going after (besides a big buck)
  16. I just don't get how Rochester isn't western NY. I don't get how people think Westchester is upstate, but it is a common thought here.
  17. I also wear an orange vest but its a very big one.
  18. Well got a text from the land owner and was told his wife wants a fawn and he doesn't feel like shooting one so hes given the job to me. I was actually going to give away my 3J doe tag this year because I decided not to use it, but im glad I decided to keep it. First fawn or yearling that shows up is going down. Ill wait to see if a buck is following and if not ill be dropping the hammer. There is a white fawn that frequents his brothers property and sometimes his and he asked me not to shoot it. Good thing he told me because I would have definitely shot it.
  19. Congrats to the lucky hunter! What a buck too.
  20. https://vimeo.com/193304232 Here's a short clip of a few of the turkeys roosting 50 yards from me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Congrats! Great buck...especially for your first.
  22. I have 30 turkey feeding about 70 yards away from me. Decided to sit on a new spot here in 3M and I already had a spike run up to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Just had an awesome experience. Saw my first fisher just now. Saw him about 70 yards out and it ran to 30 yards. Tried getting a video but the jack wad hunter that lives in the area decided he was going to try to trespass today. He quickly turned around when he saw my blaze orange vest. Didn't spook the Fischer so I watched him climb a few trees and jump from tree to tree Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Pretty much that's it. The laws have to be vague in order to apply it to all situations, but NY probably makes it more vague than others.
