  1. Each year the snowmobile folks contact our attorney about running the trail through our property, here’s his response. Virtually every year the club asks for permission to route its winter trail system through the farm. I decline routinely. Although the club pitches insurance coverage and crop replacement and property damage repair in the spring, and touts the generic NYS recreation statute as A level of protection from owner liability, my view is best avoid volunteering an opening that may go wrong or invite some creative lawsuit if a rider ends up seriously injured or dead. I would never allow on my own land.
  2. Well, he does give Hollyweird $420 million in grants to film in NY , perhaps that influenced the Emmy ? That and rich folks giving each other awards is pretty standard.

    Beer

Hum , I spend a fair amount of time at Genny’s brew house , in fact they pour my beer before I reach the bar . All their beers are in every store and gas station here ,if you can’t find it at some point let me know .
  4. Ok now I’m even more pleased with the thought to do it .
  5. That’s about my favorite, I’ll have to, pick up more next time I hunt .
  6. Thanks Brad. Here’s more info . 1= thicket in Gas Well field ,and the open spot is secluded in a way due to the North hedgerow , there’s a number of runs along the back into,it , I’ve had stands and cameras along the back by red lines and never saw much , which I found odd . There always in #1 and there’s runs . Last night they came out South into winter wheat . 2= The Double Buck field we shot back to back bucks there when it was a field now it’s the thickest spot around, just nasty , the big ones bed there often . 3= around a 20 acre thicket , some walkable , some thicker . They do cross out of Double buck South walk a trail between the two a short ways then cut into #3 if by island you mean the yellow circle , it’s an old pile of rocks and dirt that trees grew out of , I have an old ladder in there . You can’t see into anything (2&3. ) you may shoot to south side of #1 The North black line of #3 is actually a brush hogged trail, a bit over grown currently. I may just sit in the hut and see what happens . Thanks !
  7. Ok the main woods and thicket have been less then stellar this year . Now the “ gas well “ field is part open field and part thicket, I’ve bumped and seen deer exit the thicket and in the field a bit more then normal this year . Red= my truck , Green = box blind , Black line North = main path in during the morning ( although they sometimes enter farther down ) , Black line East = runs into the winter wheat field . My thoughts are to do an all day sit in the box blind, even though first light is where it’s at here as far as I know , but to be honest I’ve never sat there during the day or last light . My thinking ( hoping ? ) is a hot doe gets chased out, deer get pushed out of other spots and run to this cover ( this does happen and Sat may have guys out moving ) , other then that I don’t think they’re coming out during the day . We have pushed it successfully, but to early for that . Its something I’ve never done , oh and I was given a decoy this year, would it be worth while sticking her out in the field ?
  8. Try the BLT wrap, or Chicken Caesar salad wraps .Arrow wraps would be to hard on my teeth and Hell coming out .
  9. Taking a break till Friday, afternoon, taking Kathy again , this time she knows for sure where the safety is .... It’ll be warm and she’ll sit in “her” stand , a lot of deer have died there over many years , but it’s been slow this year , its gotta pay off at some point. Hunting hard Sat/sun may sit all day in a hut . Never ever sat all day in 40 some years . Good Luck to all !
  10. Common in areas where they eat folks landscaping. True story BC at work shot one with a pellet gun that was in his garden , next morning neighbor calls to let him know there’s a dead deer in his front yard .....
  11. Well in my thicket stand , I’ve killed two nice bow bucks here, seen many more, seldom see does, just cruising bucks ,tonight zippo . Walking out along the winter wheat, there’s a ditch to my left full of cattails , left of that a bush hogged path 15 feet wide then a thicket . A large doe pops out at 75 yards ,and easy shot ,but with NYS crazy sunrise / sunset law I can’t shoot , houses across from me can see me clearly . Then two more doe , I basically follow them out closing the gap to 40 yards , then up ahead a large buck . The does go back into the thicket and I close the gap on the buck to 30 yards before he catches on . Im going to have to hunt my hut on the other side of this thicket I think , seeing, many deer, in it lately .
  12. Well with any luck , I’ll be dragging a buck out from the far corner of this WW field . Good thing I fixed the hot tub last night .....
  13. So funny the different parts of the state . Years ago I’m driving home , it’s hot I’m wearing a white ,what we called insulated underwear top with blood on it, theres a deer in the van wrapped up, in a tarp . I go through one of those seatbelt / reg. / inspection check points , Trooper looks at stickers ,me , glances in back, waves me on . Ive been stopped by the DEC cops at least 8 times over the years ,mostly where I park . Many times I’ve got deer, they ask a couple questions , glance at tag , and never ask to see my license . Oh it happens often because they drive around and make a note of where the trucks are parked, and concentrate on those spots . Last time he mentioned seeing my truck there a lot in bow .
  14. What a swell , helpful , guy !
  15. You and me both ! Not seeing much ( anything ) while my buddies are all shooting slammers , I renew hope , head down, don’t see anything . Im going to my farthest spot this afternoon , so if I do get a buck, the drag will be absolutely punishing , seems fitting . Good luck !
  16. Lots of 747’s flying around this thread ......
  17. Oh he is , I’m having a pity party though .... Gave him three stand choices , he picked the one I shot the buck you helped me track from . Told him watch straight away and along the edge of the green field as they feed along it . IDK 7:30 he sees them straight away, mild chasing ,they head out into green field ,feeding down it .... buck goes after doe she runs into woods. Buck stays along edge watching her . Joes puts one through his heart . I knew this buck from bow , my spot is his home turf . Im home now , I’ll be back on stand by 1:00 . We’re spitting the meat for his buck, which just may keep me from shooting a doe right now .
  18. I make a much better guide then hunter this year . Took two people got each on a buck within an hour and a half . Joe just took this guy
  19. It’s rare that I shoot a buck OD , I, pretty much give them up to, sit with my daughter who hunts a few hours a year . Could have shot a slammer yesterday , waiting for her to get on him . Its deer hunting , a mild distraction from every day life . Or as my hunting partner Joe says, “ if I have to hunt for my meat, ive for bigger problems in life . “
  20. Ok a small gator . I love the fact he came back above water with his cigar still in his mouth ! Oh and don’t mess with us old guys ,we’ve lived our life and just don’t care . https://www.news-press.com/story/news/local/2020/11/21/florida-man-saved-his-dog-alligator-caught-camera-estero-backyard-camera/6375201002/
  21. Out on Joes land , no rules here, if I can get three sandwiches and a pot of chili out of it , I’m shooting it !
