Wow that sucked ! Cards got pounded , after first inning I started surfing the Net , a bit later told Mrs to change the channel . Now the Astro’s have to win so I have somebody to cheer for to beat the Nats .

Kids are always changing colors, our other one a CPA for one of the big four ,sometimes dies hers purple in the back .

Wow to hot in Canandaigua, we just shot on my range , sweating in a T shirt . She did shoot red dot on rifle just fine though .

I’ll be honest I had to look up who he is . I just don’t pay that close attention .

If the Yankees and Nationals are in the WS, I most likely won’t watch much / any of it , couldn’t root for either . Mrs Nomad was getting a little,loud during last nights game , I finally told her to change the channel .

Each time prior to climbing down , I pick out a leaf or stick and shoot a FP at it . Verifying bow is still on , my shoulders are ok , also I often pick a small window or a bit farther shot then I normally would take just to see if I could make that shot . Shooting off your stand in your hunting clothes, after sitting for hours ,is about the most realistic practice there is . One great shot there does more for my confidence then a 100 in my yard . I used to shoot on my way out , but I would lose a number of arrows in the high grass or weeds, I should bring some judo points I guess .

Only deer today was one I bumped going in, I did however see about 2 dozen turkey . I rounded a bend walking the edge of a field and there they were maybe 40 yards away . Rockspec had told me he’s seen big flocks in that field . Taking daughter to the range on our land tomorrow, shooting her hunting guns and a handgun or two , her permit came last month, four months start to finish, may co register one of mine on hers for now. Back on stand looks like Friday AM .

Much prefer when it gets lighter not darker on stand . Bumped one on way in , non stop geese squirrels and turkey , no deer but visibly is limited in the thicket .

Zip, zero ,nada . Except in the fields on walk ,out and roads on way home . struck out for the first time this year, I feel like the Cards .....

Work day on the land . Stuff I just hadn’t got to , really happy with results . Opened up behind a stand that allows a gun shot into a wide mowed trail . Raked my main path and two spurs that lead to three stands , I’ll leaf blow it when they drop ,today was to get the sticks . Best thing I’ve ever done there, walk in and out in silence, deer follow it and cross it ,leaving prints that tell a story , newbies can find stands without me . Trimmed more along soy bean field, opened up trail to stand id never find in the dark . Nice surprise, land owner who had mowed for me already ,plowed through a thicket opening up to an area where the big guys bed ,and was impossible to get near before .

Many moons ago ,I was walking through the “ gas well field “ and thought I just passed a brown rusty barrel . Then I stopped and looked back ( a very short distance from it” ) it was a doe standing in a some odd hole who had put her head down I guess in an effort to hide . It worked I had walked right past her at like 15 feet ! However when I turned back and saw what it really was I shot her ....... I often say if you’re in the woods a lot , you’ll see some weird things .

Being 60 y/o I’m not nearly as strong as I used to be, don’t move like I used to , don’t know any martial arts either . But I do still go to the gym for a number of reasons , here I am wearing my 45 pound vest doing a 42 minute workout on the Ladder, stair machine, and tread mill , today tire flips and chins ( no vest .) Dont know how I’d do in a fight , but they may be in for a bit of a surprise or perhaps I would be lol .

That’s a matter of perspective.

Face to face . We own land, but everyone thinks the farmer we rent it to owns it ,so they ask him and he gives them my number . So yes I’ve given permission via the phone , but it’s always been a guy who,lived right there . Oh and I don’t hunt our land which is mostly crop fields , so a stand or two in a hedgerow is ok with me . Ive had good luck face to face , but ,being a land owner in the area and a wife who’s madden name is well known may help . I’ll always introduced my self as So and so’s son in law ...... Also,ask around everywhere and one you know , that may pay off better then knocking on random doors in the area . I had an insurance adjuster at the house years ago, he saw my hunting stuff, before he left he gave me his card and said I could hunt his land in the southern tier , another father on my kids BB team also offered up,some land he owned ( non hunter ). Good luck .

Good luck hunters ! Nice day I may wax my truck . Im not going again till Sunday afternoon ,although I think I may trim some trees ,rake a path and mark an entrance to,another stand tomorrow .
