Today at some hippy joint in Naples NY. It was ok , a bit of a weak finish .

Slang for Muskrats . , many were caught behind shopping plazas , M.C.C. , Browncroft blvd by the park , behind the Bayside restaurant on Empire . He also would skin them on the hood of his car waiting for my buddies to get out of hockey practice . He was a school teacher also had a Masters in chemistry and was a chemist in the summer . One day my buddy caught a raccoon in a trap ,( back when you got $40 for a big one ) anyway he “ killed it “with his ax . Tossed it on the floor,of his back seat with the other dead critters, only it wasn’t dead ,nor happy when it came to as we were driving home . My other buddy would catch bullhead at night bring them home in a five gallon bucket, dump them in the bathtub and clean them after school the next day . Ran a trap line before school, and his mom would paddle the canoe while he shot frogs with his .22 and scoop ‘Em up with a net . thanks for bringing back some fond childhood memories!

Six Cardinals.

Well my Mullie was shipped to NY from Montana , in a plywood box with the mount screwed to the base of the box .

Being firefighters , we strapped them to a cart and set up a 4 to 1 hauling system. Although my buddies out West never understood why we just didn’t pack out the meat and horns, which really seems the easiest.

I can see a Yankee fan wanting the Astro’s to, lose , I should be cheering for the Nats to lose after they spanked my Cards .However I’m a sucker for the underdog , and I gotta go for the NL team . Its somewhat hard for the Mrs and I to be cheering for them , but I’m coming around !

My friends Dad was a trapper , as a kid I’ve watched him skin rats on the coffee table while watching SNL .

New heads just arrived, Mangus Black Hornets . I’ve used a Mangus ,two blade swaged heads for many years then Stingers W/ bleeders for I think 12 years . Saw Hocks post and sent for two packs of these. Just shot one head rotated on my hunting arrows ,here’s the first one 20 yards, good to go !

Agree Phade, I know guys who won’t even send pics to friends , you can come see them but that’s it . Once things hit the web and everyone’s phones you loose control of who knows and it can bring unwanted attention to your spot for sure . Half a dozen more you say ......

Todd ,welcome and please continue to,post here, you seem well spoken and thoughtful . This is just one small area we may disagree . I happen to know two DEC officers and met another last year at my hunting spot ,hope to see him again . It’s never been a thing with the guys I know . I live and hunt around Rochester ,btw .

I’ve shot Stingers for so many years I can’t really recall , after your post I read up on Black Hornets, two packs arrive tomorrow. Now I’ve shot all of three different heads in 31 years of bow hunting , so this is something !

Todd I refuse to hide my deer like it’s child porn , or any other thing to be ashamed of . I take mine right to a processor, but often bring one home to hang in the front yard, I’ve had groups of kids get off the bus and come over to see it . Then they ask to touch it , then I get to explain things about hunting ... My good friend now an attorney out West sometimes works pro bono for hunting causes and has held every office in his state bow association, became a hunter because as a kid doing his paper route ,guys all, had deer hanging from trees in their front yards . I totally disagree with the hide your deer from the public notion .

2 buck 3 doe bunch of turkeys . Farmer said my beans should all be gone today, which may make the edges and woods the preferred travel routes , instead of the center of the fields . Not going again till the week end .
