  1. I don't read FB much and never the comments, as I don't have to many brain cells to spare as it is . As for charges against the guy who killed the woman , they'll come they need to make sure the "I" s , are crossed and the "T " dotted . They'll want to work with the DA office as well , which will begin in earnest after the holiday week end . Not to,many care when you screw up a case for shooting a truck,,killing a woman you better get it right and that takes time .
  2. I've cleaned inside and washed mud off Outback after almost each hunt..... Killed little freak Mulli , bear I got for free when it did not sell at neighbors garage sale .
  3. DoubleR, the deer is nice, the story nicer ! Something many can loose sight of . Welcome !
  4. It has that a bit of that scotch taste , which I've not grown accustom too yet . Two shots in a rocks glass and a small ice cube smooths it out nice for me .
  5. Ugh, I need to hang my Chritamas lights too . Haven't hunted since Monday , perhaps the end of next week .
  6. Nice going , mostly for carrying cash , something I preach to our kids and pratice myself . I,keep a week or so spending money plus five C notes in my wallet .
  7. See what you’ve done now? Just grabbed this, not much of a selection , but I’ll let you know .
  8. I wear Muck boots with one pair of medium to thick socks , if it's really cold I'll add a thin liner sock . You want room in your boot, your toes should be easy to wiggle and sock should not be tight . Also I don't shower right before a hunt, it's yo hard to get your feet really dry , you may think they are but odds are there's moisture on them and between toes . If I must for some reason I dry them with a hairdryer .
  9. See above . I bought 100 aluminum ones for $100. Printed with farms name and so on .
  10. I used to love a Thanksgivings day hunt ! But I've lost my spot by my home , which made it easy for a quick morning hunt . The guys I hunt with at my main spot either go away or can't make it . Tonight I'm working and don't get out till 8 AM . Good luck to the guys going out !
  11. Daughter didn't shoot anything yet , our schedules don't line up well this year . But I took this deer and coyote within 5 minutes of each other , deer basically dropped where I shot it , as did coyote who thought he got himself lunch . 120 Fusions .
  12. That's awesome congrats to the successful hunters ! Now maybe we can keep our hunters numbers up for a little bit and maybe even draw more into, the woods , as hunting slowly bleeds to death . Nice to see xgun hunters are killing them not wounding them .
  13. Mid morning sit with daughter zippo . Did not know about today’s winds, oh well .

    Deer drives

Man we sure killed a lot of deer on drives back in the day big fun ! Heres how we did them . We had guys who hunted the area for decades and know where the deer will run to . You push one woods and the watchers are on other woods and thickets sometimes a half a mile away , across roads you name it . I had red 5 gallon buckets that my watchers were to sit on , don't move them don't move yourself sit there and wait . I knew one group who would drive one woods to the next to,the next with no watchers, just some guys walking the outside to contain them , finally at the last woods all the deer would meet the watchers . Frankly I think that's some skill .
  15. Strange one . 13 deer opening morning , 5 bucks . Hunted lightly till end of Oct. and saw fewer deer ever in my 28 or 29 years of bowhunting that spot . Noramlly if I go 2 sits without seeing something somewhere it's odd this year I'd go 4 or 5 and only see a couple when I did . Im thinking they knew I bought a crossbow , and hightailed it out of there !!!
  16. In harvest thread , did not want to post a pic . Till I begged farmer / land owner for forgiveness, on shooting a young one . Oh and I showered last night with Irish Spring !
  17. Well.... A 400 hundred yard walk in through a frozen muddy field, not the quietest walk in ! Can't cross the drainage ditch , find a spot I can and get a soaker walking through flooded brush / woods. Up in a little cheap ladderstand used once in bow . A doe comes through I thought of taking her but hear a ba ba ba behind her, a young bucks stops broadside , I pass as we have rules the farm and so do I on what I want to take . He keeps looking back more ba ba ba , must be a bigger one right ? He stays somewhat hidden but I see part of the rack it looks bigger then first , find an opening bang ! Little pink 7mm08 drops it right there. Stay on stand a few minutes see coyote moving around , seems he thinks that should be his meal . Bang drop him . Get down opps , ground shrinkage !! Text pics to farmer tell him I messed up on buck , he's ok with it as we have a fair number of big ones can afford to take a couple young ones. About and hour and 15 minute drag through the mud to my car . Hunting after work around 9:30 with my daughter tomorrow, she gets to use pink gun , seems to shoot ok .
  18. Dead buck .pink rifle works fine . Coyote walking around may sit and take him . He shouldn’t have tried to eat my deer
  19. Well 4-5 inches of snow at home , nothing but mud here . I’ll finish my coffee and slop through it soon . Seems like a perfect morning here .
  20. Ok ,tomorrow I'm carring my daughters youth model 7mm 08 , with pink muddy camo stock . Why ? I love that little gun, and it'll handle nice in a stand .
  21. We'll then I'd have 3 or 4 this season ! And one I filled myself while washing all the mud off them at home, apparently I got a fair amount down one of them , found out next morning at my spot when I put it on . Extra socks and some bread wrappers are good to,have in your car / truck . My other boots aren't near high enough to cross ditches this year .
