Hope to catch up with this buck...
Bowshotmuzzleloader replied to rotorooter23's topic in Bow Hunting
I would hunt that ASAP before hes in the next town,, mature bucks don't stay put long.. -
I read this and can understand your frustration, but if I'm reading this correctly he has permission and the same right you have to hunt this property,, what you did before he trashed your stands is actually called hunter harassment and is breaking the law..

Crab trees

Are your trees the "smaller" type apples what I would consider what you would normally see at someone's house or yard ? -
Crab trees
Bowshotmuzzleloader replied to Bowshotmuzzleloader's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Thanks for the replies and the info on the Dolgo species,, I will try and locate some of those in the spring .. I may pick up a few of the smaller ones just as they are nice when they flower .. My initial interest is they seem to produce fruit from a very early age.. Some informative replies Thanks -
All my years of hunting I have never seen deer eating crab apples ?? I would assume they would eat them like any other food source .. I have a opportunity to get some crab apples trees cheap for my property ,, was wondering if I should pick them up or pass ... Thanks

Isn't a "trophy" a "memorable" moment ?? Then isn't a rack a trophy that is a memorable moment when looked at ?? Seems like clever play on words to me .. Trophy or memorable moment,,, call it what you want horns or not,, I think the deer deserves that,,seeing what it's given ..

I have cut the tree down once in the past,,, makes things real clear..

So today me and my son went to Dicks Sporting goods to purchase our hunting license ,, guess what their printer was broken.... We then went to Walmart and machine worked fine for me, when they tried for my son it wouldn't work ,, they had to keep logining in almost 20 times , it took the better part of 30 minutes and not to mention the trip to Dicks .. It's hard to believe that they can't get this system up and running , it's been like this ever since its been created ,,, I guess the old book of stamps and pen to sign your name was to much work .. Very frustrating to say the least if they are going to create a system at least make one that works,, The fellow helping us said that this happens all the time in the afternoon and isn't just a one time deal ,, and said it makes his job even harder ..

Will deer be scared off by heavy construction?
Bowshotmuzzleloader replied to regulat0r's topic in Bow Hunting
Yep they will all leave ,, that's why the suburbs and housing developments are so polluted with deer,, they just don't like to be around... -
I'm just curious you believe that because you were reading the bible or whatever religion you practice is the reason you took that particular animal at that time ? That's interesting if so...

Did the father not expect a tight group over a food pile??? The deer weren't moving or leaving anytime soon,, I don't think you can blame the son,, that certainly is on the father and poor pre instruction of his bow course... Certainly no ill intentions, by the son if they had multiple tags which In that area is not uncommon just poor teaching and now maybe after what he has learned he will be a better hunter and take more ethical shots... I can say in my early years I made questionable shots and would be hard pressed that most if not all of you have had a shot where you said Damn I should of waited or not taking that ,, it's part of learning unfortunately IMO NOT EVERYONES PERFECT

Expired !! Not a expert but by his teeth and what's left of the antler a 1 1/2 at the most ....

IMO the automated report system is a major disappointment ,, I know many hunters who say they will report and don't when asked later ... I believe that the old mail in system was more accurate,, as these same people always did that .. Just my 2 cents ... In general I think to many doe permits are issued for DMPs due to overpopulation in housing tracts and areas that can't be hunted .. Which helps nothing ...

Bowshotmuzzleloader replied to First-light's topic in General Chit Chat

2 Bills to address deer poaching....
Bowshotmuzzleloader replied to growalot's topic in Deer Hunting
Yep, more laws help just take a look around you..that will solve it .. How about parenting and teaching moral value and self worth and good smack on the ass when you loose focus.. Some of the old ways have some merit , of course when I went to school you got paddled by the principle, now If that happened that's got to be punishable by death and the parents would let the child play video games to get over the traumatic experience ..but if the parents tried to displine their child they would call the police on them .. Yep more laws and fines that will do it .. Stop them poachers in their tracks cause law breakers care about laws and fines.. Same as drug addicts really curbs their ways .. -
Pumpkins
Bowshotmuzzleloader replied to Bowshotmuzzleloader's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Yes I agree, but it really depends on the area , and what food sources are available ..Where I am they need all they can get .. -
Pumpkins
Bowshotmuzzleloader replied to Bowshotmuzzleloader's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Just a update Going to do some pumpkins soon.. Been talking to my friend who owns a Tree nursery and was able to score five Apple trees and three pear trees for $50.00 a piece .. They are eight feet tall and about 1 1/2 around and will produce fruit this year as they are flowering out and budding... So happy, I also bought some from Home Depot and planted six of those but they will be years as they are just twigs .. -
Don't forget light !!! Once you muck you don't come back ... Great boots ..

Bowshotmuzzleloader replied to Bowshotmuzzleloader's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Thanks for the replies, Iim just very limited with time and what I will be able to accomplish this year ,, Just trying to get something for now , something is better than nothing , going to do some beans and hope if my guy comes through some more mature Apple trees -
Does anyone plant pumpkins as a partial food plot?? Years ago I hunted in the Ithaca area on a farm and the neighbors had a pumpkin patch the deer seemed to like them late season.. Was considering doing one what's your thoughts ?

She lost her edge !!! IMHO her time is lost and past ???? -
I'm not picking on you, but if you spent the night drinking and were in the condition you just described , you most likely were under the influence when you where hunting in the morning ..Your body can only get rid of one drink per hour , so going to bed at 2.00 am snickered and waking up at 6.00 am your still under the influence ,, ask me how I know I got a DWI when I was 20 driving home from a party the next morning for a brake light out ...
