I got two ticks in my back a few years ago and had to go to Urgent care to have them removed, I was told that if you generally get the ticks removed in the first 48 hours or before they become encouraged your chances of contracting Lyme disease are slim, however the doctor explained the reason for this is because when ticks are engorged they actually vomit back into the host and this is usually the time it's transmitted ,, I'm no expert but that's what I was told, so unfortunately your faithful friend may at risk....

I be been hunting this stand for over ten years and like clock work he comes at around 4:00,, what I'm curious to and was thinking about tonight is this the same bird ? How Long do they live and /or do they teach their young to feed in the same spots as they do as there are holes in such in these trees that he frequents ,,, looking for insects I would have to guess, anybody have any idea ??

I usually take this week off after the sun tanning Saturday and the extreme wind and snow today, which is expected through tomorrow, I called my boss and going to work tomorrow and traded my day off for next Monday this weather is just to extreme to hunt with any enjoyment,,,.

68 yesterday to 8 inches of snow today with ice and snow all over the trees what a nightmare. Had this guy come by at 9:20 and a doe shortly after that snuck in behind me and couldn't get a shot .. The buck gets a pass..

Northern Adirondacks - how much snow is too much?
Bowshotmuzzleloader replied to buckchaser's topic in Deer Hunting
Don't worry you'll be fine,,, the deer will cruise through that like it's not there, you on the other may have some troubles with the deeper snow ... -
One of the worst opening days in 15 years in 7J (Fenner) had a doe and two fawns pass around 7:30 let them walk sat till 10:15 took a break ate and back in at 11:00 for the rest of the day, didn't see anymore deer, my son did the same and his only entertainment was a large porcupine at about 3:30 going to give it a whirl in the AM hopefully won't get blown out of the stand with the wind at least will have snow instead of high temps ... Good luck ....

If I ever lost this spot I would seriously have a nervous breakdown its the best place in the world for me, I've been hunting it on opening day for 15 years or so,, helping the landowner replace a couple of sliding glass doors next week and fixed a broken window for him,, its the least I can do... Good luck in the AM

First off I hope everybody has a safe and successful morning tomorrow !!!!!! I would just like to remind everyone to be careful of the ticks it's going to be warm and they will be active as heck, also if you shoot a deer it's best to skin it while it's warm and get the hide in a bag before it cools and these critters start looking for a new home... Im just stating this so you can get it in the back of your mind especially if you have young children or pets at home, chances are you bring a deer home your bringing ticks home also.. Good luck ....

Bowshotmuzzleloader replied to The_Real_TCIII's topic in Deer Hunting

There is no doubt and we usually stay later,, as stated it was colder than usual not making any excuses I also don't have the time I used to to hunt as I'm raising my almost 4 granddaughter since she was 14 months so my life as I knew it isn't the same so weekends without daycare become weekends of nightmares especially during hunting season but I have next week off and a free pass for next weekend to do as I please ..
