  1. As far as them traveling the same route next year, don't look for them early season where you saw them late season the year before . At least where we are at the patterns really change throughout the season. I place my cameras where I see the most rut activity and get very few pictures before or after the rut. Best thing is to make mental notes for next year late season.
  2. Just far enough away? If you remember the GTG that you wouldn't come inside ,there was 4 guys from western ny who made it.
  3. I'm not exactly sure what you think would happen if you did show up to a GTG. Theres no way anybody would be a dick to you .
  4. Sounds like a fun place to create an account for...
  5. I can't tell you how happy I am that a MB 550 is not a motorcycle , my brain completely let me down before I clicked on this one.
  6. Sad to hear of his passing . There is only a couple merit badges I received that I even remeber getting ,one being archery and this thread reminds of the other one ,wilderness survival merit badge . It consisted of canoeing 50 miles in the Adirondacks for 5 days with just a tarp for shelter ,no matches ,lighters or 3 gallons of gas to start a fire ,we were allowed to bring freeze dried food but I'm positive we could have eaten fish all week if we wanted to. There was 4 of us who completed it that weekend . We did get the canoeing merit badge after that trip also.
  7. You're going to shoot limb rats with a pellet gun to make things happen? How about a slow walk into the bedding area?
  8. I gotta say , I get a chuckle everytime crappy and chef get heated at storm. He really does know how to get you 2 fired up LOL.
  9. There absolutely is a 2nd rut ,the phases start all over again just like the first ,just not as much. Last week new rubs popped up ,I have a picture of a nice one out cruising at 1:50 into a bedding area today. Next weekend the doe who arnt bred should heat up again. At least in this area.
  10. I'm not much of a boat guy ,best I could do is give directions.
  11. I did the same thing and left the moisture absorption package in there .
  12. We have an old overgrown Christmas tree farm that the deer flock to in bad weather ,I would look somewhere thick .
  13. That could take weeks ,it was well over a month when I did it.
  14. Be careful ,maybe take your cell phone on the roof ... ya,know just in case the ladder slides out and leaves you stranded on the roof.
  15. I think you hit the nail on the head ,yes any gun can be modified to shoot BH, but is it safe ? BH adds a bunch more pressure to the equation ,i guess the question then becomes ,was the barrel intended to handle the increased pressure ?
  16. Also in that picture ,you can see that the breech plug was drilled out and tapped to install what they call a vent liner . They install a stainless steel flat head screw with the flame hole drilled through . It allows for the breech plug to be "rebuilt" once the flame channel becomes worn out from shooting and cleaning ,just unscrew the vent liner and screw a new one in.
  17. I could drill the breech plug on a drill press . I've also got almost 25 years I the machine trades ,I wouldn't recommend someone trying it unless you have a really good grasp on holding a somewhat tight tolerance ,specifically on the depth of the hole you need to drill. The flame channel stays the same diameter, you are counter drilling /boring the breech plug so that the flame channel gets shortened .
