I'd bet (illegal too) that treeguy was joking on his offer..................

First hunting bow was a Bear Grizzly recurve, circa 1976? I went to the compound with a Darton SL50 around 1982-83? Went "backwards" in 1987 or 88 to a Bighorn recurve. Ended up with another Bighorn, a couple Great Northern and a Robertson. Then a Kohanna IIRC. Pretty sure it was 1999 that I walked into Nick's Archery at noon on the second day of gun season. I said hello Roy.......he looked at me and said WTF are you doing here? He knew I was a traditional shooter and being the second day of gun season, his second slowest days of the year he wasn't expecting to see much traffic. I told him I was done with the stick bows and needed a wheel bow (again). Walked out with a deposit on a Darton Maverick........... Kept that bow for a handful of years then went with a Bowtech Guardian. And a few years later that was tripped for my current bow, a Elite Answer. I believe this will be my 5th year with that bow. No plans for a change, maybe this winter I'll think about it.

Dino.....Happy Birthday!! I’m sure your day will be filled with some fine outdoor recreation; kayaking, archery, fishing, brain tanning, mountain climbing etc. Save some time for cake and ice cream.

I set my alarm to be the first and damn I’m late again...... Happy Birthday Elmo!!! What’s the plan for the festivities today???

Legalizing Dove Hunting & Keeping it legal!
Lawdwaz replied to mike rossi's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
He surely is........he's doing a terrific job at it too. When dove hunting is legalized in New York State, he will be the man to thank.- 6 replies

Happy birthday Val. What a fine fine day for a party!!

Mine was measured typical and IIRC only the longest single point/tine on each side of the counted. I'd happily take a couple extra inches.......

Nice work! Look forward to the final product........ How is sourcing the material going? Is ash any good, I'd think there is TONS of that available?
-
Funny thing: my Stihl saw has a little plastic “door” that you have to flip for cold/warm conditions. Fortunately I’ve mastered that 8-10 second job.

Finnegan Pin and Kanutant Valve were “buzz” words from the late 70’s when I was a half ass grease monkey. Balance the radiator?!?!?!
-
I think (VERY dangerous) that they only take one brow measurement. My buck from a few years ago had two brows on each side over an inch and only A single longest from each side counted. Where’s Bob Estes when we need him??

RIP father of First-light. Condolences to the family.

Mostly dragged.......quartered/boned a couple too. I've dragged them far enough in Pennsylvania to wear most of the hair off one side in it wasn't ANYWHERE near two miles. Talking about 5 mile drags is ludicrous.

Not sure where I hunt constitutes "Big Woods Hunting" but I wear wool almost exclusively for deer hunting and have for 30 years. King of The Mountain pants, belt, suspenders, vest, hooded sweatshirt and a couple different hats round out the set, accumulated in the late 80's and early 90's. I had a Bowman I didn't like much and a couple of the shirts that came and went......... Great stuff and worth the price, considering the years of use I've got out of them. As far as cleaning, I've never had a single piece cleaned. Heavy duty mud/blood/guts/deer pee etc are all cleaned by Mother Nature when you hunt in the rain or snow. Late last fall I got a First Lite Sanctuary jacket, I was looking for something for the coldest and nastiest days of archery and gun. It should easily be quiet enough for bow. I had a gal at work do some sewing work on the pockets as they sucked; elastic cinches in the two handwarmer pockets would limit my hands from going in with a release on or even light knit gloves. After she was done they sucked a little less...... I hope to give it a full workout this fall. (oh and it IS warm as toast)

Labor Day is Monday.........

Damn didn't even think of it tonight Rob.....I (we) were just excited to get there and it was barely sprinkling. Listen to the weather monkeys on TV and you'd think they'd be loading the Ark up for the BIG deluge. We got wet but certainly had enough time to fling a pile of arrows and even, incredibly hard to believe, lose a couple. AGAIN!! Not me this time though........ Next time hopefully we'll remember to snap some early pics.

I'd go into it with a mouth guard and a cup........protect the goods. A helmet might be overboard. Pics for SURE ......rob.
