  1. I got an email from Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie the other day with some encouraging news............. "Dear Lawrence, Thank you for contacting my office to express your support for allowing mourning dove hunting in the Empire State. I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this issue. Legislation exists that is intended to allow for the taking of mourning doves (A.7778-A). This bill has been referred to the Assembly Environmental Conservation Committee. You can follow the bill's progress by using the Quick Bill Search tool on the Assembly's website. As always, public participation remains vitally important to the Assembly. Your input is a valuable resource that helps me to better serve our state. Sincerely, Speaker Carl Heastie"
  2. That's my kind of tangent..........a guy that's been there and done that, telling a FIRST hand account of a hunt on the other side of the earth. Yea, I like that.
  3. I thought about going to that show too......always liked Ian Anderson. Was a favorite of mine in high school. "Songs From The Wood" Crank THIS up!!!!!!!!
  4. Damn right.......whatever ya do, don't tell your friends or post pics on the web.
  5. If the DEC came up with a window decal, I'd paste one on my truck for promotion. Just dropping a hint if'n they're reading this.........
  6. When it comes to scopes, they are all that graces my guns. AS a matter of fact, I may just pull the trigger on a used 4x Leupold tonight.......it's in the classifieds of another site I frequent for $165. Gloss, not matte. WGAF about that??
  7. Ya think some college students would go for tacos?? We'll have 'em hook, line & sinker!!!!
  8. That bear just maybe could end up in Addison. Lots of fish scraps at one locale I know of........ LOTS!!
  9. LOL, yea that'd be great. I wish I'd have had a tag in my pocket the morning I shot the doe last year. She was pushed by me by a buck that looked considerably better than my '15 buck. I'm pretty that stud took a bullet during gun season though. 3 out of 4 dandy bucks I had on film last year never saw Xmas day..............and they ain't on MY wall.
  10. I know, I know.......... Speaking of meat, my daughter is out of the dorms at UB and soon to be in an apartment with 3 other girls. They'll be preparing their own meals. We talked about the mega benefits of 30+ pounds of ground venison when dinner is on THEIR dime. She agreed, the girls are going to be eating venison this fall!! It may take some trickery to convince a couple of them but I have some plans to take care of that small detail
  11. I see them PERFECT...... I also see one in my hand someday this winter.
  12. I haven't pulled a card yet...........hence, I haven't spotted a buck to have disappear. Cameras have been out 4 weeks now and I certainly look forward to seeing WTH is in the mix this year. I think I'm due to kill a monster buck............
  13. He's probably bowhunting already........... Happy Birthday DP
  14. My buddy has a pair of Leica 8x50 Trinivoids that he uses for spotting deer in the field from his truck. They are great but big!! You wouldn't want to schlep them around your neck for long!! For awhile I was watching for some 8x56 glasses for him but I don't think he cares as much anymore.
  15. Personally I wouldn't want anything over 10x...........50mm is fine, they'll surely gather plenty of light. Lots of great choices in high end glass these days. I've had a bunch of Swarovski and Leica glass over the past 25 years and have whittled it down to my two current pair, both 8x. I have Swarovski 8x32EL's and Leica Ultravid (neither pair is HD) and if I had to choose only one, it'd be the Ultravids. For the truck I have a pair of Bushnell Legend 8x42 IIRC. Not bad for the coin.........although, Dinsadale had some Nikon Monarch glass that I liked even better than the Bushnell's. Keep us posted........
  16. 10' height is nice! You shouldn't have to cut MOST of the hind legs off like I do to get it so it isn't dragging on the floor of the shed. When I get a particularly big buck (or doe) the skinning process is slowed considerably when all the hide is bunched up at the base of the neck.......
  17. My first lab was a "Van Lee's" puppy, Bred by Tammy's mom back in 1987. Her name was "Van Lee's Krista Kalling". What a great dog........
  18. I'll bring some quarters down 10/1
  19. Uncover it and let's see some pics
  20. Hard to believe a God fearing man would even hint about doing something like that.
