  1. Welcome to the fray! Sorry, I can't help with your question but I'm sure some help will be forthcoming.
  2. I know absolutely nothing about military guns and have no interest in learning. That said, when TF shows up with a cool-ass rifle like THAT, it gets my immediate attention. Talk about history...............dang that's a winner.
  3. Only certain people can start a "2016 Live From The Woods" thread; the wrong guy/gal does it and we are all jinxed......
  4. Wooly pulls of another winner.............
  5. The member here "Buckstopshere" is up on this form of trickery and can shed some light on your question. Send him a PM if he doesn't show up PDQ.
  6. I just figured if somebody here had done it, we'd have known by now! The bet still stands...............
  7. Looks like we have a real comedian here, what time do you go up on stage? I'll answer the q's as I see 'em... 1) You can have the trout, pass the perch to me. 2) You'll have to use your imagination. 3) I have more of the tube socks....and yes, they could very be older than your punk ass. 4) Say what?
  8. I'm cognizant of many things while snapping pics but the open barn door ain't one of them.
  9. Oh, there was something "pitched" alright.
  10. Yesterday morning I peeled out of here at 4:45 am for the agreed on meeting time of 7am with Dan. We met at the cottage that his lovely sister & BIL rented for a 30 day stay in God's Country; The Shores of Keuka Lake. I pulled in around 6:58, maybe 6:59 and Dan was standing right there, amazed at my promptness! After brief greetings we were on the water, a bit of a chop but no biggy for a couple 'Old Salts. We caught a few early then had a bit of a lull before we really cranked 'em in. IIRC we fished until a little after 1:30; a full cooler and lots of fish sent back as we had enough of what we were targeting. What I mean is, I didn't want anymore smallmouth unless they swallowed the hook or if we got smaller perch, rockies etc that weren't worth cleaning. The final count was 22 perch, 5 smallmouth, 5-6 rock bass and one bluegill. (I'm pretty sure on those numbers) Dan did the filleting and I sliced out the rib cages and bagged 'em up. We had one HELL of a meal of perch fillets tonight with at least 5 more meals left out of the days success. The weather was perfect, just a strange wind that couldn't make up it's mind. Dan kept the drift in check as best he could under the circumstances. One cute gal sunbathing on a dock was probably thinking we were drifting back and forth on purpose but, honest 'injun, we couldn't control the damn boat. Never did catch a fish for about 20 minutes at that point.......strange?? We headed back to the cottage to clean the feesh and rest up for the big ride back home. Dan only had a little less than an hour and mine was about the same as the mornings; about 2:15 hours. I was completely wiped out by the time I got home and cleaned up......... Here's some pics: A beauty of a smallmouth, close to 4lbs: At one point Dan thought I swallowed his boat seat. I assured him I didn't........: Captain Dan: First Mate, yours truly:
  11. I'd take that bet for 500 large.............
  12. Cut through all the BS and get a 7mm-08 Remington (chamber) in either a Tikka, Remington,Savage etc.... It'll do anything you want, in NYS and 95% off ALL (ALL) hunting in gthe lower 48.
  13. Unfortunately for good. I still get emailed updates regarding doves. He's fighting with passion for something many in NYS would enjoy immensely if a season was set...........I admire is efforts.

    Changes?

New arrows and new broadheads. Didn't really need either but only had a half dozen shafts left and wanted to make a broadhead change.......that's about all I can think of.
  15. There's still some thunder and lightning around here.....not out of the woods yet.
  16. Good heavens, DON'T do THAT. You'll kill the guy.................
  17. I hear something rumbling......oh heck, it's my a/c coming on.
  18. I had channel 2 6pm news on the DVR and it was delayed by a football game so didn't start until 7pm. The poor weather girl (Jennifer Stanonis) was terrified. I've never seen that in a professional weather person before......heck, I've always liked her. Things seem calm right now................
  19. I was getting ready to head down to North Collins, NY to do an estimate for a fire job. IIRC my appointment was for 10am. The TV was on and I was watching the coverage of the first plane into the building when, like millions of others, I saw the second plane hit........................
  20. Looks like there are two snakes in the second picture?
  21. OMG.........(sorry, what originally came to mind would surely get be a time out from the MAN) that must have been quite a concoction you had going! The last paragraph in your post quoted above reminds me of an experience my friend and I had at the Toronto Pearson Airport back in 1998 IIRC. It's a long story and it might be best if I didn't post all the details but lets just say it involved a loaded .38 S&W, carry on bag, airport scanner, RCMP Investigators, missed flight and a TON of smooth talking. Thankfully it was before 9/11 or we'd still be incarcerated.
  22. Damn, I FORGOT the bobcat from last winter. Add that to the list as it's right at the top of "COOL".
  23. The video I have of the bear chomping on my camera is priceless........he did some damage; one lash tab on the back is gone and the flash lens is junk. I expect it'll take a fatal washing from a heavy rain at some point and fry the guts. The bear has a nice white "V" on his chest that'll be helpful in ID'ing the sob after I shoot him. He's big enough..........
