Seeing two things in the picture: 1) The deer appears to have a wound on both sides in the two pics near/in the shoulder area? 2) The pic is staged on the side of a road, was it pounded by a car/truck/golf cart?? Thoughts and feelings are welcome. Thank you!

The golf course is in a "no hunting zone", the police do bait & shoots. I don't think the DEC would permit the golf course to kill antlered deer.......................I could be wrong but I highly doubt it.

You're not alone. As far as the 5.5+ year old bucks, not many have taken one for a host of reasons. Some of them are because a 5.5 YO is one smart critter, he doesn't wander MUCH in the daylight and they're aren't many of them around, IMO. Hopefully this will be your year TCIII...........

I found another reason to NOT regret my former crow hunting days!! Yesterday while I was having coffee with my friend, I noticed a couple crows harassing what at first glance a looked like a turkey buzzard out over his pasture. Quickly the big bird dove for the ground and I noticed that it most certainly wasn't a turkey buzzard but a immature bald eagle! It landed and the crows continued to dive bomb it for another 30 seconds or so while my buddy and I scrambled for optics. We figured we only had a few seconds before he/she took off so just got the binos. After a couple minutes I set up the always handy spotting scope and started snapping pics with my Iphone up to the eye piece. He hung around for probably 15 minutes, his head swiveling around looking up, terrified of the crows still lurking up in the pine trees. Finally I had to leave so then he flew away. Hopefully someday soon when he grows up I'll see him cruising the air currents with a crow in each talon.
