  1. A 270 closes the deal well too, and is good practice Best shot this year...205 ;D Well done! Smoked crow & a Blaser!
  2. Private ground? Feeding supplements? High fence? ;D
  3. Probably the same guys that do 72 in a 65 zone, roll through a stop sign, talk on the cell while driving, bend the laws with regard to taxes, NOT tell the cashier about a miss-priced item at the store or too much change back. Just massage the laws a little, don't REALLY break them..............................................
  4. Good heavens, I wonder how Pennsylvania does it with 1/2 hour before sunrise and 1/2 hour after sunset. You'd think they'd be killing all kinds of guys.........................................
  5. Those are great bucks from any part of the state! I have a question, did you just start hunting 9 years ago?
  6. I'll post this again. Maybe you missed it on the other thread or maybe I'm confused?? It has been passed by the senate, now it needs to be signed by the Gov............................. Gallivan passes bill permitting rifle hunting in Wyoming County Senator Patrick M. Gallivan passed his first piece of authored legislation (S. 2385), a bill that will permit sportsmen to use rifles when hunting deer or bear in Wyoming County. The bill passed the Senate with near unanimous support. "Hunting large game by rifle is legally practiced across large portions of New York but has not been available to sportsmen in Wyoming County," Gallivan said. "This bill will rectify that, and at the same time bring economic activity to Wyoming County and further the county's reputation as a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts." The taking of deer and bear with a rifle is permitted in over 30 counties across New York State, including in Cattaraugus County directly to the south of Wyoming County. The Senator explained that he was proud that his first piece of passed legislation furthers the cause of sportsmen and enhances their rights, "sportsmen are an important constituency in Wyoming County and across New York. This bill, when signed into law, will allow Wyoming County residents to rifle hunt closer to home, while attracting hunters from surrounding areas into Wyoming County." The chamber paused upon official adoption of S. 2385 to congratulate the freshman legislator for passing his first piece of legislation in the Senate. Senator Gallivan's bill has a companion piece introduced in the Assembly by Assemblyman Dan Burling.
  7. Damn, that will get your attention. Send them there bulls MY way! ;D
  8. I've had a few sporty times in the field. Had a sow bear run her cubs up a tree in PA 15 years ago. Oh, it was 4:15am and I was heading up to a gobbler I roosted the night before. I was just about to the top of the knob when I heard some scratching noises on the bark of a nearby tree. Pointed the MiniMag towards the sound, 10 yards away and saw 3 little hair balls scurrying up the tree. Momma was VERY close, I heard her woof once and she started to circle around be. Well, as good a time as any to load the 870. I I thought about what to do for about 1.2 seconds and started to head back down towards the truck. I figured the bear might slip in the trail I was leaving if she choose to follow! I got to the bottom and headed up the other side of the valley and could hear those cubs bawl for at least two hours. I did kill a bird later that morning, a Jake. Bears suck. Had another time in PA that we almost died in a boating accident on opening day of buck season, in the dark, freezing spray, breaking ice to get back across the Tioga River, water in the boat, heavy clothes, guns, three guys and a spiker. Never mind, you get the idea......................
  9. I certainly hope you go for quality. Anybody that picks a taxi for price needs to rethink things.
  10. I had Bill Mansell do a buck for me in 1998 (?) and hed did a great job.
  11. The world renowned Bernie Seitz from Akron, NY. He is mounting my buck from 2010 and it's almost ready (that's taxi' speak for 4 more months ) to be picked up. He's a good guy and done things for me and other friends for the past 25 years.
  12. Good tip. Sometimes I'm a bit leery of that when my pack is a bit too heavy, like on an all day sit. I might have two thermos bottles, sangwiches, snick snacks, extra clothes, rain suit, camera etc. She gets a bit heavy and could be too much weight to one side of the stand and put it out of balance. Typically, I'll just let it down to the ground with a haul rope and if I need nutrition, I just haul her up and get what I need. If I don't have much, I'll just put the important things in the saddle bags that hang from each side and the front of the Treewalker climber. They work good. (Summit made)
  13. 9 consecutive years? ;D Your pretty choosy, good job.
  14. not sure but it could be a shasta?
  15. Hey Doc- Look at you, banging away on the computer like a pro and I'll bet your first phone was a couple soup cans with a string on 'em. I guess we are spoiled
  16. Thanks, we don't want for much when camping! I'll check and see if I have some other shots from this past fall. Good thing you can't hear the generator running in the pics! Edit to add: Pics from 10/2010 Just so there's no confusion here, one dude to a tent please............ The camper was added to be used as a "mess hall" last fall....... Beef jerky? You tell me ............
  17. Very cool! Nothing like a nice woody.............. ;D .
  18. I don't do enough camping, really do enjoy it. The past few years a friend and I have camped and hunted the early muzzle loader season and that included the youth hunt in PA. We have had a blast and some success also! We use separate tents and try to concoct some kind of eating area out of a Jerry rigged tarp. Food is almost always finer and the beer colder when camping.
  19. Nice video. Gov Cuomo still needs to sign it into law. NOT a done deal.
  20. It already has.......................... Gallivan passes bill permitting rifle hunting in Wyoming County Senator Patrick M. 21. Don't load the 243 YET. This bill, just like all the BS that went on last year still needs to be signed by Gov Andrew Cuomo. Hopefully he doesn't get bit like Gov Patterson did and kick it back. SomBtch I hope this thing passes. >
  22. Before I get TO excited......how do you know??
  23. You can shoot at them.....you may not hit them! Have at it ;D We want hero shots when it's over!!!!
