  1. Appreciate the feedback. I love the new gun!! Watch out turkey birds!! Wed here I come!
  2. I was glassing the fields from a hill, that helped in finding them
  3. I was glassing turkeys and deer the other evening and I happened to see horns in the hay field. Hundereds of yrs away. Decent buck!! I cant believe I noticed them!!
  4. yeah its really far while on the ground. 40 is as far as ill go. Its a new gun and just wanted to see what it looked like at 50.
  5. This was at 50yrs. There were about 28 hits.
  6. I was glassing 8 turkey birds ( 3 strutters) in the field. I started glassing the crap load of deer in the dead goldenrod field when I noticed a decent rack. Its pretty far away but it deff looked like a mountable buck. Heading out late sunday to grab it.
  7. Althoug my dad is a hunter he never really spent alot of time teaching me the ropes as a kid, i only remember him taking me deer hunting once. My son is 4 and I've already taken him with me once. I would have to say Roger Ragglin back in the early 90 he was the pioneer of hunting video's ( atleast to me)!! I still will watch those videos on good ole VHS. The guy was so passionate about deer hunting and always had good advice.
  8. Mowed today. I always love it when my wife says it doesnt need to be mowed yet she has never mowed before!!
  9. Walking thru a swamp one time one one leg went into a sink hole right up to my waist. It scared the crap out of me when I went down. I pulled my leg out of there super fast. Beside a boot full of mud and shaky legs for a few minutes no big deal!! Always watch ur step!!
  10. I do when I can. One yr we had one fly right of the roost right to us. By the time he had both feet on the groud he was dead!!
  11. I use whitetail inst alpha rack. U should be fine with round up and a york rake. My plot was an old field and thats all I did last yr. I also planted brassica's and the deer never touched them.
  12. Thanks for your support Saturday Mike, See you in a couple weeks!!
  13. I started the morning with good ole advil!!
  14. not much activity on that seasonal road until your plot is full of deer. Thats the first thing I would work on is making a barrier between the poacher and your plot. Maybe plant corn around the edge of the road and leave it up. Then plant whatever else your thinking inside.
  15. I use my jd 212 garden tractor & a york rake. My plots are not large but its worked perfect. If I need alittle more ill use the walk behing rototiller. Takes quite awhile but its very cost effective. Most seed i use doesnt need much depth.
  16. hahaha all that for a nickel!!
  17. ill be over tomorrow night for dinner!!
  18. I did mine with Whitetail Institute, I didnot take long and they email you the results.
  19. Paul Harvey's God Made a Farmer was in my opinion the BEST!!
