congrats. those eyes seem a little sinister and squinty, but it could just be the light.

she owes no explanation, and life goes on. But I have to admit curiosity has me on this one.

I just witnessed nature take it's course...

sounds kind of cool to me. not sure I'd want to ward them off haha. -
elbow to finger tip alternating every side. make sure you give yourself 1 or 2 above the stand to help you climb in. Depending on the size and age of the tree it's a good practice to back the step out a turn every season or so to prevent them from growing into the tree. Also, for some of our stands we remove the bottom few in the off season to ward off those interested in climbing and stealing. Place a twig in the holes to prevent the tree from healing in the hole.

what other countries have turkeys that people hunt? jk. just thought it was funny. Congrats on the bird.

Cuomo Under Investigation?
Five Seasons replied to ELMER J. FUDD's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
sounds like something that would be front page news if he was a repub. -
couldn't think of a better term. so sorry to offend you. I have nothing against shooting guns, I think I made that clear in my earlier posts. All I said was that if you're going to shoot all day all weekend, the neighborly thing to do would be to get a membership at a range. If you have a dog that barks, the neighborly thing to do would to keep him inside when you're gone or put a collar or something on him. If you have a harley, don't rev it at 3am when you're pulling into your driveway. I own a bike, and there's no reason whatsoever to rev it in your driveway after its been good and warmed up for a while. if my case on being a good neighbor was missed by you, then I'm sorry.

i think both I had in me were only for a few minutes as they didn't appear to have even gotten past the skin so I'm not too worried at this point but it is frustrating and scary. I'm watching both spots carefully for any rash or redness/bullseye. I know that's not foolproof but it'll have to do. Bought some bug b gone to spray the lawn as well.

I don't think rural shooting is ever really about safety as it is noise pollution. agreed. I've lived in different parts of the country and down south your neighbors truly are neighborly... if not too much in your business sometimes. Up north people seem like they'd rather write a note or call the cops than talk to each other.

you don't "need" decoys to hunt turkey. Overall I think they help, but a tom decoy can actually drive other birds away too. just like any tactic used to hunt just about any game, there is a chance they backfire on you. That being said, turkey have great vision and while I don't think a cheapo decoy is a bad idea, I also don't believe in a $100 bird either. I think they have their best advantage when hunting fields. I hunt a lot of hardwoods, so I prefer a decoy that is flexible for me to carry over other features. I have 2 hens (feeding and nesting and a jake) that fit in a decoy bag I wear over my back and it works for me.

looks like they're stumped too. haha.

they have really botched the hunter safety part of this. My other thoughts on crossbows aside, this really bothers me. If you're going to implement them, do it right. Just require the archery course and be done with it. It wouldn't be confusing and it makes sense.
-
You should post them on www.oldgobbler.com or maybe NWTF's website and get an expert to say for sure. Might just be an infection/injury?

yuck indeed

If Onondaga did anything they would draw a line. Much of southern O would be just fine for Onondaga. Problem is that the city is also in the county. I've heard this rumor the last few years in a row now and I don't think it'll ever happen (sort of like Monroe county). But with a few more counties jumping on the rifle wagon maybe it will.

I'm not in NY right now, but I pulled one off my shoulder Saturday and another off my calf on Sunday. Son of a bitch. Never had a tick on me in my life, then 2 in 2 days.

It should be one or the other. One course for hunting with any weapon (bow and crossbow) or seperate courses like it is today that include bow and xbow. A bunch of states have only one course. I wouldn't see an issue with this. Just beef it up a little.
-
our only whining came from the fact that there isn't a lot of good information out there and seems to be quite a bit of confusion. That, and that the archery course isn't required...and lets not forgert we're being asked to thank governor cuomo. Other than that, what you call whining, is simply discussion for some.
-
There wasn't a 10rd limit? And let's not get silly with pre/post ban. Do you not agree though that the course should be required? I still fail to see how the anti group is responsible.
-
The worse thing for a truck is to sit. With that little miles I wonder how long it's sat.

Lol. Wikipedia can be written and edited by anyone. It's why I did that, to prove using Wikipedia as a source in argument is silly. Sadly that's still lost on you. My comment above is the same reason most are concerned with gun regulations. When do the requests end? When does the DEC so concerned with population allow guns into the early season? Are crossbows just he start? When do 10rd mag limits lead to 7rd limits and weapon bans? Do you not see it? Really?

But is not illegal to use it so long as you're not profiting on it. I made my opinion already, but if someone is worries about their work being stolen, they shouldn't upload it to the net in the first place. Even non members can come in and right click/save as

NY DEC: 2013 Deer Harvest Results are In
Five Seasons replied to burmjohn's topic in NYS DEC News and Annoucements
paychecks! the dude's gettin paid for his knowledge! respect it! -
i hope some of the fence sitters are seeing why some of us felt the way we did. You may still be in favor of crossbows regardless of the safety class and that's fine. But it has to strike you as a little odd, and you should have a funny little feeling when you're wondering about what's next for hunting in ny.

common courtesy is to ask. You're not doing anything wrong unless you're trying to profit off it. But again, common courtesy would be to ask. It would be a compliment.
