i'm lucky that my yard is pitched pretty good. but there are some spots i cant touch. learned it the hard way. My gripe really is how quick it grows. My yard looks like it has hay bails from the clippings and from how high it is by the time it's semi-dry enough to mow again.

part of me thinks he's so anti-gun that even something like this he doesn't want on his resume. I can see the opponents campaign ads now "Passed the safe act, then turned around and approved deadly rifles in wayne county" lol. Then the other part of me thinks he will pass it in good faith and claim "see i am for the hunter, not the criminal" lol.

If You're Against Crossbows During Archery
Five Seasons replied to Five Seasons's topic in Bow Hunting
and you're entitled to that opinion I agree. i do have a problem with how hard it is for someone who is disabled to be able to use one. eh... my best analogy is a handicapped parking space. You need to make an exception for those who love the early season, the stealth and the challenge. There are indeed implements for the compound bow that help disabled people use them, but for every able bodied person to use a crossbow is something I believe hurts the sport. there is certainly still challenge with a crossbow, but as I've said a million times over the push for a crossbow into a season meant to challenge the hunter is simply the result of our changing societies impatience and need for instant gratification... that and the manufacturers. -
Good year for apples?
Five Seasons replied to NYBuckHunter27's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
most of what i've read is that a pear tree is preferred to apples. the deer love the sweet taste, i believe the reason they're less common is due to the fact they take longer to produce and are less rugged. All that aside, i have loaded apples and pears. One apple tree is touching the ground. i have to thin it when i get a chance. -
so true... so true... It's hard for anyone to change even if it's for the better, and those who refuse to change because they believe it's not for the better are often called names for it. In a recent survey by the national wildlife association, 75% of bowhunters claim to have gotten into the sport because of the challenge. Archery has never really been about putting food on the table, but more about the challenge of outsmarting an amazing animal by concealing your scent and movement. In the same study, it was shown that the average bow kill is 15 yards. Why would we want to bring in an implement with a scope that increases range and that is already "loaded" therefore reducing movement and overall challenge? Bowhunting numbers have been rising every year, thus proving the sport is not in jeopardy and that hunters do indeed enjoy the challenge. The whole crossbow movement is tainted by the fact that almost every major bow manufacturer now offers a crossbow for sale. think of the dollars behind that push...

no. not really. not to get all nerdy but the energy required to freeze the ice is greater than that of a compressor. So unless you have free ice or a pipeline from the arctic you're better off with a window unit. All that nerdyness aside. I laughed at the picture.

i guess it's easy to do with printed words with someone you don't know? Because honestly I know of some guys that do that, and i'm sure others do as well. -
Rain, Rain, Rain, and More Rain

everything is doing decent still. but i'm not sure how much more water my beds can take -
bought her used from a chick with only 800 on her in 2007. I'd like an 09 or newer R1 but it'll probably never happen. I'm actually not a fan of the newer body style R6's. I'd get a CBR600 over a newer R6 if I stayed with the 600s. Right now the bike doesn't owe me anything and still runs great.

agreed. we do 1 or 2 a year in the crock. But I agree, it's a pain. maybe i'm reading your post wrong, but I really hope you didn't just state you cut the backstraps out and leave the rest of the deer in the woods. -
ditto. and I keep adding. fishing, hunting, golf, garden, fruit trees, my crotch rocket, my car, my truck, my mountain bike, videogames. Now I want to learn the guitar. Like I got time for that. Although, I would take hunting over any of the things I just listed, with my car maybe a close second.

Good year for apples?
Five Seasons replied to NYBuckHunter27's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
if you're planning on eating the apples pick up the concentrated fruit tree spray and spray as they recommend on the bottle. if it's just for deer, let them do their thing. I'm actually starting to thin some of my "eating trees" so that i get some nice big apples as apposed to a bunch of smaller ones. -
