  1. dammit my 2 pears at country max were like $30! i do have fruit on the one though. did you see any peach or plum? I have too many apples and I think I'm set for pears.
  2. Deer already got my strawberries and blueberries. Sometimes you wonder if its even worth planting. Also, look into a garden hose for your dehumidifier. Empty it into your sump pump or floating slab cracks
  3. Used a biscuit for many years with no issues. Just went with a fall away and I like it much more. However it's not so much better that I would toss your biscuit. Upgrade as you learn and you realize what you like and don't. I would however recommend the short vaines with the biscuit as the longer ones do take a beating from it.
  4. Need toget yourself to a shop and measured properly and have a dozen of the same arrowa
  5. Lmao doc! Bought an 03 silverado with a bunch of miles on it last fall. Needed a beater for the winter and to keep my Pontiac garaged. 1 month in I need a new hub, and a new cv and a/c pulley and belts. Middle of the winter CEL goes on. Buy a MAF to fix it, no go. Oh well it drives. Then I smell burned rubber one day. Rear drivers side caliper is frozen and while I'm in there I do the other caliper and bleed the lines and all new rotors and pads doing the work myself. Then there's a snow storm. The 4x4 I thought I bought doesn't work and I find out the hard way. And I stick it out till spring. So this fall I have to figure out the CEL (I think it's intake gaskets) and the 4x4 which I think is transfer case. Moral of my story? Don't by a used truck with 116k on it thinking you're going to get a nice beater. And also don't go to websmart auto where they tell you they will fix your problems am don't. Hope that makes you feel better.
  6. Press is all relative right? It got some news but it won't be covered for more than 1 night on any national news... If that
  7. I'm done man. Really I am. I'm tired of it. A simple point turns into 3 pages with you. My arrow doesn't fall out of my bow because it's knocked. Regardless of angle. I have to assume it's the same for a bolt, if it's not than my bad. I thought these were both archery equipment, so that the same "knocking" concept applied to a crossbow. Must be hard to stalk game though if your bolts just "fall out". Enjoy the rest of your day. I'm spending mine on a tour of a brewery on the companies dime. beautiful day here in Portsmouth too. Must suck to be stuck at your desk arguing with people over the interwebs.
  8. you're a trip and i give up. theres no danger even with an arrow notched on a compound. But if you feel it's just as safe as a loaded and cocked xbow... well... that's fine.
  9. I agree 100% with the original thread post. Totally I'm favor of making it easier for hunters with disabilities. SJM, Why are you yelling? And why is your yelling hard to understand? Too much to drink?
  10. Insults? Can you not at least admit there is a difference in how the triggers work? Good lord man, a toddler could fire a gun or crossbow, but they could not fire even a recurve at lethal speeds. Yes of course it all requires poor safety practices, but were not talking about that. The whole debate goes back to similarities the xbow shares with a gun or a bow. Read the bill you wrote letters to your politicians. There's all sorts of wording about how you can travel with it, requires the DEC to provide safety training etc. they wouldn't have put all that in the bill if it was "just another bow"
  11. Wny, One requires an action to create the potential energy before pulling the trigger (pulling back the string) the other does not, you just pull the trigger. Sometimes I think you're smarter them you let on and just like to argue. Would they have put all that safety stuff in the bill if they didn't agree?
  12. And most of us have planted our crops or shot some birds. Not a whole lot to so but fish
  13. It's summer. People should be outside or on vacation. I'm in Portsmouth NH on business this week. Crappy weather but a beautiful town. Lots of people here with their families.
  14. Cool story. I've never seen those before
  15. This thread was not what I was expecting
  16. i never claimed them to be dangerous, for the final time I simply feel that given how the trigger and safety and guard works with an xbow that they are very "gun like" and that claiming a bow release is just like that of a gun is a pretty big stretch.
  17. confused by what this thread is about. and if you think the "troll pic" was some pic I made, you need to explore the internet. I only used that photo for a while because i pissed some people off and didn't need my real mug out there.
  18. not true. The simple act of having to draw a bow, generally means you have taken the time to identify your target and are generally aiming in it's direction. Per the link I posted, many have shot themselves in the foot, or shot to quickly at something without identifying their target and hit a friend. What to say this couldn't happen with a loaded crossbow just like it does with a loaded rifle?
  19. I'm going to disagree. I would not have considered myself a hardcore partier. But I had a great time in high school and college. As a 29 year old I often reminisce about the days where I worked a part-time summer job to make just enough money to put gas in my beater car and buy some fun and spent my free time chasing tail, going to parties and experimenting. Those years are invaluable for shaping your future self's communication and social skills which will go a long way to helping you in many ways. I should add that i was still an honor roll student, and all county in 2 of 3 sports. And because of this i didn't pick up a bow until after college when I could devote the time it demanded to become skilled at it. No time to bowhunt during football season, but plenty of time around thanksgiving to go in with my browning. I still got in the woods and on the water after walleye, squirrel and deer but not as much time as I do now. But now, it's all about work, wife, baby and house. So the woods and water are my escape. I rarely drink more than 2 or 3 beers and certainly don't partake in some of the things I used to. Moral of the story? I'd enjoy these years Joe. You'll have your whole life to escape into the woods. But you're only in your teens and early 20's once. Enjoy the days where you can drink w/o consequences and where every girl you meet is likely just as inexperienced as you and most likely you're both not married haha.
  20. if you accidentally pull your "bow trigger release" while in your stand; could you hit your hunting buddy or your foot?
  21. normally i start my day by reviewing the recent threads while drinking my coffee. Today the front page seems to be a little cluttered...
  22. i like arguing. So riddle me this: In medieval times, when battlefields had "archers" using longbows or recurves and they also had soldiers using crossbows... Why did they call them "crossbowmen" and not "archers"?
  23. probably not possible my friend.
  24. i've lost meat by forgetting it was in my trunk, but never a whole freezer. that freaking sucks!
