  1. In addition to the windmills, they will follow with solar. The reason I know this is because I live in an area with windmills and now the big push is to put up a 1200 acre solar farm. Once they get the area zoned for commercial energy it's game over, and the solar is much more detrimental to the wildlife and and surrounding area than the windmills ever were.
  2. Am I missing something? Ultra Series Hang On Combo | VANISH + 4 STICKS - Xtreme Outdoor Products (xopoutdoors.com)
  3. Unknown pic looks to thick to be a fox to me. Also the hair doesn't look right. My guess would be a bobcat, by the thickness and stature.
  4. A couple of other good options for low light hunting rifles are the trijicon and Meopta rifle scopes. Both offer great glass for the price point.
  5. You can actually see better through a quality optic at the proper magnification during low light than with your naked eye because of the magnification. It's even better to use quality binoculars because you are using both eyes and two objective lenses.
  6. The vx5 hd's are nice scopes. I don't have the exact one you are referring to, but have two 3-15x44 and a 3-15x56. I also have an older 4.5-14x50 vx3LR that I feel is every bit as good. While somewhat true the larger objective will only help you so much. What the larger objective does do is give you the same light transmission at a higher power. High quality glass is the most important thing with light transmission, so that should be your first consideration. While most believe that the best a human eye can use is an exit pupil of 8 (objective/magnification) that is not always the case as some people (myself included) have larger than 8mm pupils (learned that while getting lasik eye surgery). The best advice I can give is to look through them with your own eyes, preferably in a low light situation.
  7. Rob, canastota is very different than going another 7 miles south in the country. I rode from my house in fenner to phersalia, during this same time last year.

  9. The article I read about the decision stated it was due to much more than just snowmobilers. There were many landowners, hikers, cross country skiers and others that voiced their opinion against it. Snowmobilers already get a bad enough rap, they don't need additional bad information spread.
  10. Phase, I agree. The part of the caption below the picture that's a bit over the top is the part about passing up young bucks and lots of patience paying off. It was the kids first gun season and it was opening day, how much patience was there really... Just say the kid had a great opportunity and capitalized on it. Good for the kid, but don't act like he'd been hunting for 10 years to get the buck.
  11. You could look at the mid-size UTV's they are closer to the ATV, but you get the benefits of the UTV. Might be a perfect unit for your needs.
  12. From personal experience owning both ATV's and UTV's I would recommend a UTV for what you're looking to do.
  13. And that right there is the stupidity of NY and our law makers. Let's make another law that effects all legal users negatively so that someone that is already breaking the law by shooting out of a vehicle can't do it... Does anyone on here really think that if someone is going to shoot a deer (likely at night) out of a truck window with a crossbow they are worried about another law they are breaking for having too narrow of crossbow? The law has no purpose, if a person is of the moral character as stated above the width of their crossbow is the least of their worries.
  14. The trick to fixing this issue is to make sure the ingredients are at room temp when you go to cook it. If you pull it from the refrigerator and throw it on the heat it will do as you say.
  15. Okay, well that's not going to work. I'm up by Syracuse.
  16. I may be interested in a trade. Where are you located?
  17. Speaking of fat, has anyone tried using beef fat in their burger instead of pork fat? IDK, but I prefer to have a burger cooked medium and for some reason it skeeves me out doing that with venison and pork fat... Plus I think the different fats have different flavors.
  18. All of Tactacams plans are per camera, so you could have the basic on one cam and the ultimate on another depending on how many pictures you are getting. You can also instantaneously upgrade or downgrade your plan on any camera via the tactacam app.
  19. I have to agree with what has already been said here. I've tried a bunch of the different cell cams and bang for the buck I would say tactacam has it right now. Others I've used work okay for the most part but are 2-3 times the price. I will say the tactacam app is a bit clunky, but it functions. I think the biggest thing with most cams is the batteries. I don't trust the level indicator on any of the cams. I know for a fact that I've had cameras that said the batteries were full charge and I replaced them anyway and they go back to working as they should once new batteries are installed. I would bet that your old bushnell was likely setup for a 3G network and now it's no longer supported, or the firmware is so out of date it won't work.
  20. Really? In my area, pretty much none of the same deer are in the same areas from summer to hunting season.
  21. You're right, there isn't one person that wouldn't file for it, but my feeling is based on the parasite that he has been to our state he should be stripped of it.
  22. What he did was just saved his lifetime retirement plan and pension. If/when he would have been impeached and removed they would have stripped it from him.
  23. The first exec. order king Andy needs to do is repeal his own bail reform BS, that's a good start to fixing the problem. Yes jails will fill up initially, but once criminals realize that there are consequences again things will ease on that front.
  24. I have the large one like pictured, and it works well. One thing I would recommend is getting one of the ones with an attached lid. My biggest complaint is having to clean it when I am done with it and then also having to clean it before I start because it doesn't have a lid.
  25. You always have the option of fencing your plot to keep the deer from killing it. This works very well with smaller plots of beans and even corn. You can use the thin nylon with wire in it and a solar fencer. Staggering the fence by 3ish feet will keep them primarily out as they don't have depth perception. Then you can take the fence down closer to fall and you will actually have a crop of beans and corn that they can forage on all season as well as into winter.
