  1. Thank goodness they do employ biologist, other wise they would make decisions based on social issues.....like they say AR's are.
  2. Now you are not making any sense here, come on Joe. That reply is not good enough for me, retype it until I like it or say its good enough for me.
  3. For those that have not read the DEC plan reguarding their thoughts on the various forms of AR's, now is a good time to do so. Pages 42-47, there will be a test next Tuesday. http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/wildlife_pdf/deerplan2012.pdf
  4. Come on over to my kitchen, you are welcome to help yourself to the left overs that I have already picked over..haha
  5. brrrrp .... Nothing like chocolate and cookies for breakfast. This is the only time of year in the kitchen that people bring us food instead of the other way around.
  6. Guys we manage them every year, hunting season is management.
  7. And I already know your response to the above statement, "I'm not forcing any thing on any one...if some one is feeling forced to do something from the internet...ect..." We have ALL heard how you feel on AR's and QDM 1000 times, we get it, its all about herd management for you. I have no problem with how or what you feel on the topic, but it doesnt change any ones mind by the number of times you post it.
  8. Antler I have a question for you, why do you try to dictate how and why others feel a certain way about things? You routinely say that a guys reason for or against something isn't good enough for you. No one needs a "good" reason to not like something, it is up to them to decide if they are for or against something even if their reason is just cause. None of this has any thing to do with AR's I suppose, ...just sayin It is also important to note that there are many different forms of AR's, not just the one DEC has in place now.
  9. Did you shoot that at night? Why is the bottom of the photo chopped off, is it because you have it sitting atop the bait pile? Is that the new "trophy" doe pose?, I have seen that a few times on here now and its always you professional types. Ok thats enough jokes for now, good job Dave6x6.
  10. Why lookie here its my favorite topic, Doe whackin! I look for 100+ pound doe's, and yes I can guestimate close. We weigh all of our deer and my brother logs em all, I like to weigh them cause me and him have a friendly most weight competition every year. He won for the first time ever this year I think..hehe cause I usually shoot a few doe's and he concentrates on bigger bucks. Any way, there are older doe's out there its just that not many pay them any attention. My biggest was 135 pounds and my average is 110-125, 1.5's run 80-90 in our spot and 2.5's are 110+, you get the picture. I don't age them because I don't know how and I am not going to bother taking them some where to have some one else do it. A good old doe is every bit as had to catch as a buck, I think Alsehimer had a portion of one of his shows dedicated to just that topic. He had a doe that they could never catch up to and finaly did when it was way old (8 maybe?), that was a neat show. I realize there aren't many guys like me, and thats a good thing..more fat does for me!
  11. http://www.lymanproducts.com/lyman/muzzle-loaders/mustang-209.php Buy a Lyman, get some style would ya!
  12. I am looking forward to making and eating Beef Wellington on Christmas Day, don't care about getting presents or shopping for that matter.
  13. Thanks Burt and Wny, first doe that gave me a good chance this year and I didn't waste it.
  14. Here is mine from Sunday morning, had a herd of 15-20 come through and I dropped this one in her tracks at about 60-70 yards with my side hammer Lyman. Weighed in at 115.
  15. For some reason Mainers sound like this Amish guy I got a buggy ride from once, they all sound like Gil to me.
  16. Maybe you should start a new topic to find out how guys can kill more than one deer a year. If you can't figure out that some areas hold more deer than others I don't know what to tell you.
  17. It took me a long time to realize not every one says wicked awesome when describing something great, I guess thats a upstate thing too. If you really want to hear people talk funny go to Northern Maine, them fellers sound like they ain't so smart. And for the record in my area I don't have an accent, you out of towners do!
  18. Crossbows cannot be used in "bowhunting-only" areas of the state, or during bowhunting seasons, or during the regular season in Cortland County (due to recent rifle and crossbow legislation).
  19. No wild game isn't really regulated too much, no need for it. If a guy wants to hang a deer for too long and risk getting sick, thats on him. The one in your example is probaly 100% fine by the way, its been plenty cool this week. And there is most likely a law stating you cannot have wild game in the same area as a restuarant prep kitchen. Commercial foods are supposed to be controlled from initial processing to the final cooking process. Speaking as a guy that runs a couple of kitchens I can say that would never allow it, too much risk with others health and wellfare.
  20. I just find it interesting how the barrels that come with the gun's have changed over the years. Used to be smooth bore, then came the combo deals, and now I see alot of bird barrel only deals. My slug barrel I had to buy separate, cost me darn near as much as the gun.
  21. http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/hunting/deer/seasons Here you go, season runs to Feburary.
  22. We had one on our PC at home the other day, I happened to be on here but I don't think it came from here. But I have no way of knowing where it came from.
