  1. I was laughing at Paladino when he threatened the reporter a few days ago. Something about taking him out, I don't know but that seems like a guy with a screw loose. Could be good for entertainment value but I can't see him being able to get much done in office. I mean he will obviously make a lot of people mad just with his personality and I know the rest of the politicians will not work with some one that doesn't give in a little. This is one of those lesser of two evil elections...we are screwed either way.
  2. It sure is nice to know I am younger than all of you old farts here, 30 Sounds better knowing I am half the age of some of you!!! I wonder how many years of combined hunting we have here on this site. Deffinetly a big number.
  3. 20ft...just keep your hands up after the shot until the arrow hits. Follow thru is the main key when moving back farther. You will be ok, and if not just don't push it if you are not comfortable with the shot. Next year try shooting from 40, it will help alot back in at 20 and 30. The weather looks good for us Saturday, but Friday's threat of rain has me a bit worried for our creek crossing spot. Other than that we are mostly ready, I just have to pack up the waders and then the rest on Friday..Lets GO!
  4. Holy s@!# a bear!!! Cool pics of them fighting too, Thanks for sharing.
  5. Oh well that makes all of the difference. Stinking typo's haha
  6. How about Grave robbers.. I was young and tagging along with my Dad on a hunt at a really old farmstead that had graves and all of the desserted stuff you would expect. One night we found a freshly dug up grave and that creeped me out to no end. I guess they were after jewlery but I could never go through there with out getting nervous as a kid. Now it is a houseing development..haha I wonder what they did to the graves?
  7. ok I'll bite, what the hell is FIBO?
  8. Steve, I think we should put out the disclaimer that we are not talking about any one on here, just making observations and comments on a few dudes we have seen. I wouldn't want to start a war up based on disagreeing opinions...that's what the AR threads are for..haha
  9. I guess my observation touched some of you guys off a bit eh? Obviously I don't go out of my way to wear camo in public, I find it tacky but good for you if you like it. Maybe we could look at it like wearing spandex, you may think to your self, "Damn I look good" while everyone else is giggling at what a fool you look like. I am not ashamed of what I do in any way, I just do not feel any desire to parade around in full camo trying to represent all hunters like I am an ambasador for every one. Coincidently upon pulling in to the parking lot we had a bet as to which truck had those balls hanging down from the hitch, my wife picked out the truck and was right. It seems the camo and the in your face attitude go hand in hand.
  10. I stopped in to one yesterday and saw the same thing. What is with people dressed in full camo in the store? We saw a whole family dressed head to toe in camo...I walked by them and noted how I could not see them and got a dirty look..haha
  11. What is that bottom pin for, 100 yards and running to the left? haha Looks alot like my dads bow with the desert storm camo..
  12. oh yea thats Bear the double rainbow guy... come on everybody knows him. I learned about him from a radio show interveiwing him... he is a big stoner, what shocker! Oh and another surprise, he is single. haha
  13. hahahahahahahaha Some one just walked by and asked why I was laughing so hard. Thats great!
  14. "Doe, after we finish our game call recording I have some raggedy clothes we could put on and maybe we can take a trip to one of these donation centers? Man, we better stop because we are frightening ourselves here!!! " I'll grab a wheel barrel so we don't hurt ourselves carrying all of that delicious free meat, we will just need to hide my Suburban around the corner as I am pretty sure that will be a dead give away that we are not in need. lol! And speaking of people complaining.. I work in a drug/alcohol rehab..most people are decent but, once in a while we will get one that is to good to eat a hebrew national hot dog..mean while the week before they were doing god knows what eating out of dumpsters. Oh well can't please them all.
  15. hahaha buck roar hahahaha I wish all Fridays were this funny on here....
  16. That old saying ain't true, let me tell you...One of my kitchens prepares meals for a shelter and on more than one occasion I have had to give them a different menu item because the homeless don't like some thing. So beggars can be choser's! I wonder if I could lie so I could be a receipient of some of this venison...nah that ain't right
  17. Good to hear you are back in business..I have always said, archery is 90% mental and 10% physical.
  18. I carry my ML during gun, in a rifle zone, just because I like it. Other than that, steve is right under 100 yards there isn't much difference.
  19. Maybe someone should record themselves peeing at home and then sell CD's of the sound so hunters can play it back out in the field? Maybe someone could make a few dollars selling it. Worth a try I guess. Hopefully they will edit out the sound of the flushing toilet. oh no...on any given day they could also get a "grunt" in there too..you know what I mean, when there is too much back pressure when you are peeing and all of a sudden a toot comes out. You know I purposefully stayed away from this thread to avoid potty humor and you drew me into steve..I hope you are happy!
  20. Yes as much as I dislike buying and carrying more stuff with me my new range finder has found a home in my pack. I got one last year for x-mas, its nice to have for sure. It takes the guess work out of it...leaving me with one less excuse. I have seen some for under $100, well worth it in my opinion.
  21. Thats where those rangefinders with ARC built into them would be handy. They use them out west alot where it is more of an issue with rifle hunting and angle's. For bowhunting I think if you want to go up that far you should be fully aware of how your bow is going to shoot. As far as why some one would go up that far, its more likely their belief that it will get them out of the pesky wind currents and line of sight like you said. Me personally I start sweating at about 9 feet off the ground and rarely go above 15. lol Our one spot is a very steep mountain kinda like yours, I can see where knowing your rifle is important in that situation. Again all one needs to do is aim a little low, or in my case just miss and scare the deer towards some one who can shoot better than I.
  22. Actually Steve, when one goes up that high ballistically speaking it will shorten the distance to the target. Meaning you have to aim lower. That goes the same for guns and extreem angles, its just that for guns it is at a greater distance. The angle can be up or down it doesn't matter... thats when physics takes over.
  23. I think alot of those are just empty tubes that you make a noise through...can't we just make the noise with out the tube? haha that is a good one sits. What about that contraption that allows you to mount the range finder to the bow for a constant range reading...how bulky and heavy is that thing I wonder. And who wants to draw back and then look over at a range finder with a deer in front of them.
  24. I use hang on's, it makes it easier for bow hunting. This year I will be on the ground but I don't use a bround blind. I just pick a spot with something to break up my outline..a big tree, some brush, whatever is there. That keeps me as mobile as you can get plus its more fun to have a deer at 5 yards eye to eye. I can't get past the cost of some of these blinds...200-400 for something that is imitating the real thing and doesn't look 100% real unless heavily brushed in. Although I will say I can see the value when hunting with kids or adults that fidgit alot.
