1. I leave my Blaze Orange walker at the base of the tree so I can be found if I don't return in a reasonable time ( a month or so ) . Do you put an address lable on it too..might be a good idea if you wander off in the woods and forget your name..haha funny pic!
 2. I don't remeber it being really exspensive for the stuff he used for the cold air returns but I have a short term memory.. wait what are we talking about?
 3. "I would certainly be in favor of a higher sales tax over income tax. That would tax people based on what they purchase, not on what they make. That way people who don't work and purchase flat screen TVs , game systems and $150 sneakers are paying the same tax for those items as I am. If you don't have money, you won't buy these things and no tax." So the solution to high taxes is to create a different type of tax system? I understand your rationale but wouldn't it make waaayyy more sense if they just controled the damn spending to begin with. NY is the highest taxed state in the nation and the boobs in control still can't curb spending long enough to get a balanced, fair budget in on time. Our dysfuntional government is causing fellow NY'ers to leave NY at the highest rate ever and we also have that title too..way to go politicians, people are packing up and leaving while you wring you hands on pay day. My foot is wedged in the door to leave, but just one foot so far.
 4. Maybe he just got some bad news right before they snapped the pic or some thing..hehe I noticed that too, smile man you just shot a nice buck!
 5. wow.. some guys will try anything. I wonder if the chain saw was wrapped in scent lok haha
 6. Unfortunately I don't think it really is, sure there are fines and hell to pay but I don't think there is any jail time or any thing like that. The worst they will do is fine, recind your license and sease property..ie guns and trucks. I ain't no expert on it though.
 7. Yea, thanks Geno, I wish I could buy it around here though..oh well x-mas is coming any way and I need some more stuff.
 8. "I think many non-hunters can accept deer being killed to control deer populations and for people to put meat on the table, but when you start throwing out the word "trophies" and "trophy" hunters their opinions may just start getting swayed against hunting sooner than later" Yes that is 100% true, they noted it in the one study I read in fact. People don't like the idea of Trophy hunting and the State knows it and is at least recognizing that fact.
 9. I would turn the guy in. I think we are all thinking of major violations, not some minor ooppsie like forgetting to report or filling out a tag wrong correct? This seems to be an issue of growing importance to hunters. We need to separate ourselves from the loosers out there. It sounds like we are policing our own pretty well but could use some more funds to step up the process. Last year we called the DEC on some guys that were baiting in one of our spots, the ECO came out, hiked up the mountain to see for himself and came back around the opener of gun and nailed the whole camp. Hopefully those guys stay away but I doubt it will deter them for long.
 10. Good idea and I would like to add to it.. maybe a heating and cooling guy could bend the SS for it. They do alot with duct work and what not and usually make their own parts...I seen him do it last year at my house.
 11. Wait a sec is that an attempt at humor from an AR fan? Thats a first I think, congrats!
 12. um what? Re-read Doc's first post here on this thread, he pretty much tells it like it is there.
 13. There is some intelligence! Very well stated! You mean ..Very well cut and pasted!
 14. Yes TheHunter 77% or 158 out of 199 support AR's from the two areas you reference we all know that. Boy what an overwhelling majority that is. I wonder how many of that 158 are from the same Sportsmans club that pushed for AR's to begin with..what about the rest of us.
 15. No I don't think it is DEC info, no where is it noted as such. Other places on there they say where it came from but that section in void of any such title. You know what else, we put alot of faith in these reported numbers, and we all know the reporting rate is like 45% so who knows if we are even close to being accurate. Then again what else do we have to go off of.
 16. You forgot to put on there A CASE STUDY when you cut and pasted that one from the web site http://www.nyswmc.com/conservation-facts/ Those are their numbers and studies not DEC's
 17. Hey fairgame you might want to sit this one out me and BurmJohn are disscusing facts not fellings. ;D Any way I am more confused than ever as to why a chart would show a drop in buck take but the numbers show something else... These are Adult Buck take numbers state wide by year...they seem to go up and down with the rest of the deer take numbers.

2009 102,057

2008 105,747

2007 104,451

2006 96,569

2005 89,015

2004 88,733

2003 107,533

2002 128,292

2001 127,084

2000 140,857

1999 125,392

Again these are not broken out into age class just adult male. It is also important to note the Fawn male take has stayed about the same for a looong time, maybe that should be more important?
 18. I don't know either, I was gauging off of the chart on the DEC web site. I know it must be rather hard to gather any concrete data on deer age at the time of kill.
 19. ".... however it works by allowing 1.5's to survive, and giving everyone an opportunity to harvest a more mature deer in addition to allowing the maturing of the herd." Except for the part where the overall buck take is down, meaning less people have the opportunity to take a buck. And what about the hunter satisfaction rate sitting at @50%...what about that?
 20. Right but, you would think that the 2.5+ buck take would have increased a bit more, so far atleast with the info available it has not.
 21. .."But I do have concerns about the shooting an 85 gr broad head.." My wife pulls @47# and we use 75gr Muzzy's, last year she put an arrow up the the fletches on a doe. You shouldn't have any issues, but it sounds like you know what you are doing any how. Good luck testing them BH's and let us know how you made out.
 22. ah yes but there were in fact bucks there before other wise the doe would never have fawns..but I digress, I don't think any one was disputing that fact that AR's are at least some what effective. It remains an issue of freedom of choice for me and alot of other guys here.
 23. oh no!!!! hahaha Sorry eddie, we mean no harm, and certainly are not making fun of you or any one inparticular.
 24. Our neighbor last year took a beautiful 2.5 (best guess was a 2.5) 8 pointer, field dressed at 179 pounds. He has one of those hanging scales in his garage. The other deer his son got was a 9 pointer, dressed at 165 pounds. This was in an AR area (3J). I actually saw the 8 during bow last year a few times, he was well out of my range. Guess's don't count for much, I could guess that same deer was 4.5...get my point? Either way good for them on making a clean kill.
