Our company is in a bid process right now and we will know in June what the deal is. Maine would allow us to be close enough to family for visits and far enough away from unwanted visitors lol. Really we could end up any where and be happy, time will tell.

I have come across a few this spring, the return Woodcock flights are going on too. Fun time of the year.
-
I might be making this decision in the next few months, the lead is Maine for me.

QDM Meeting with Neighbors

What? So I point out that your land is so great you hunt in a park and your response is this? I really don't know why you even come to a hunting site, you are into fenced hunting and think poorly of QDMA, the future of hunting ect, why not just stop posting? -

Hunting is so great on your 700 acres that you go to Letchworth every year to kill deer. Makes sense. -

It kinda reminds of of a fender bender on the highway, annoying, but you HAVE to look like everyone else as you pass. -

And yet you hole heartedly support AR's. You don't make any more sense today than you did when this thread first started. -

"Jennelle, Samuel and their research team reached those conclusions after studying deer-harvest data from Wisconsin’s 2002 to 2013 hunting seasons, evaluating rates of CWD infection, and analyzing how alternative management plans would affect CWD and the herd" Studying harvest numbers counts as science now? Yea I'd go with that. http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/videonetwork/3414450242001?odyssey=mod|tvideo2|article

I'm open on the 10th, 17th is a no go.

I have seen no less than 4 in the last week, two on the river in Cohoes and two different one's on my commute to work down the Northway. They are on the move this time of year following the ice melt. I love seeing them.

I have never shot recurve, (other then when I was a kid) I did start out shooting fingers and switched at age 13 or so to a release to help me improve accuracy. I still use open sights on my side lock ML and shotguns. Its just how we hunt, simpler is better for me. I do have a couple scoped rifles and enjoy thme too. I'm 34 and grew up with no scopes until I bought my rifle in about 2006, still a few of us around I imagine.

There is also state land in Middle Grove, that also stinks like Daketown. I have worked birds in Middle Grove though.

Once I know her schedule I'll send you a PM.
-
What dates will you be in the area? I might be able to hunt with you in a spot or three I have, but my schedule is a little funky because of my wife's job.

A farm animal is still a farm animal no matter how big the fenced area is. There is zero hunting involved in fenced in animal killing. I have seen these trophy animals in these places and they lay around like pets, pretty sad. It's only a matter of time before animal rights folks figure a way to shut it down. Or politicians will get wind and regulate and tax the hell out of the industry.

I love to watch Harriers do their hunting, really different style. My pops went to a Raptor fest near me today and came home with some great shots of Harriers and a bunch of others.

You are out of luck for state land around CP. I can't think of much that is close by.
-
We are heading to one tomorrow, kids will love it and I get to eat pancakes so I will love it.

Ants I ran an o/u with Winchesters last year, love it and plan on using this year again. I don't camo tape it though I'd rather risk getting busted than cover up a pretty gun.

Cover ground until you find sign then slow down. 1 mile or 6 I never know where I'll end up until the end. I go where the sign and wind takes me. I covered a whole lot of miles last year and loved every second, I get bored sitting in a stand.

Now that's cool, my dad grew up fishing with a bamboo rod just like that. It's all he had until he got much older and could buy his own. He, and later on I, grew up on a trout steam and spent much of my youth fishing or playing in that creek. I still fish the same holes I did back then only I wait for summer now. I caught my first limit at age 6 with him on the same creek too, ahh memories.

Any one that has to manually satisfy an animal for a living can keep that profession. Please wash your hands before counting all that money you make. Lol -
Nice heartfelt post, now I'm sad.

They are dopes for sure, they dumped them in an area known for illegal dumping. Couldn't they have brought them out to the woods to use for Coyote bait?
