GOOD LUCK on this one man!! -
I bought a Benelli SuperNova with the Max4 camo a couple months ago and got my first kill with it the other morning, (a jake at 60 yards) but thats not what this topic is about. After the heavy rain the last couple of days the creek I needed to cross to get under the birds I was going to hunt was much higher than normal and over my boots. The only way to hunt these birds in my swamp is to get on a large Pine tree knoll next to their roost which is where they fly down to before moving on to an apple orchard. I tried crossing the high creek in multiple spaces with no luck. Finally I found a solid log jam (at least after my first step it seemed solid. I took one more step and in I went along with my gun, phone and flashlight up to my waste in muddy and cold water. First reaction was, "iPhone, iPhone iPhone!!" which was in my pocket. After slipping up the bank and to my surprise a working phone I sludged on boots full of water. Birds flew down perfect exactly how I planned and I made a great shot with the 3 1/2 inch. After getting home and switching out of my soaked cloths I pulled out the instructions to my new gun to see how hard it would be to completly strip it down and clean it. After less than ten minutes I had everything all the way down to the firing pin laying out on the table!!! I couldn't believe how simple it was to take apart and clean. They say these guns are designed for this kind of abuse and I completly agree after seeing the mud and water inside it yet it still functioned like a dream! I hate to say it but im not sure if my trusty 11-87 could have worked so flawlessly after my lil dip in the creek. I would highly recommend this gun to anyone I meet now who is asking about a good gun!

I got pictures of one in brookfield and saw one in westmoreland this year. I have see tracks before this year but these were my first sightings. I hear they do a number on the turkeys which could explain the very low numbers in my area.

I do a lot of Euros for myself, family and friends and I never thought about using smaller antlers to make a stand! I'll have to try that some time!!
-
I've seen a couple and one of my buddies got one. Its legal to shoot them spring or fall and I wouldn't hesitate to shoot unless there was a long beard close by. Saw a completely cream/blond colored hen a couple years ago while deer hunting. That was pretty cool too!

Also, face the Tom (or jake) decoy facing you so the Tom will come closer to get in front of the decoys

I'm a huge advocate for a full strutter and two hens. One feeding and one on the ground. I use a real tail fan in the strutter (Pretty Boy). I got one of those Avian hen decoys and she is PURRRDY! My buddy got the funky chicken jake so were going to try it opening day with my spread.

YEAHHH, seems like a good idea to me admitting an illegal act on the internet that I'm more than sure the DEC monitors....NOT!!! Even though they are trouble at times, they are still a valuable asset to the ecosystem and to avid coyote hunters like myself, my friends and other NY Hunters. I'd recommend not bragging about it on here, not a smart decision.

Got it recorded on the TV...Can't wait to watch it! Looks hilarious

Another Mass Shooting...upstate NY this time.

tuckersdaddy...The police would never use a dog for bait like that! I know 2 K-9 handlers and their dogs arent just their partner but a family member! Not to mention how expensive the dogs are to buy and maintain for the departments. -
Marijuana grow. The criminals who do this usually camp close by to over watch their grows. Was there water near by? Thats another clue to look for. Looks like they have been there a while so i'm sure the "crop" has been cultivated already. Keep any eye out in the spring/summer months for beat down trails with human tracks and this kind of garbage.

My girlfriend is related to John the owner of John's barbershop. A "friend" on facebook posted on her page how she feels that weapons are not needed and how they are the cause of crime. The only crime here is that it is so hard to get concealed carry permits in many counties across this state. I wish that someone in that barbershop was carrying and had dusted the sick bastard before anyone had even gotten killed. I'm glad the cops made swiss cheese of this guy. -

I WANT THIS! hahaha -
My buddy and I go up to Old Forge every year to his camp for the early Bear season opening weekend. This has been an annual trip for the last four years or so. The only one we have ever seen was running across the road before OF at about 2AM. We put on a lot of miles and never see much sign let alone a bear. Anyone know a good place to try for the early season or have some good tips?? p.s. I bring my bow and he brings a rifle.

Like everyone else said its a real challenge. I have shot a lot of turkeys with a shot gun, usually tag out spring and fall for the last 11 years, so I too switched to bow only with a pop-up blind. Big challenge but a bigger reward when you get one. I missed two birds last year spring hunting but wasnt upset. Missing a big Tom strutting in your decoys at 3 yards is exactly what I wanted!! If you get a pop-up blind you can set your decoys close to your blind. Blinds do not spook turkeys, I usually set my decoys, (a full strut and two hens) at about 5 yards. You can set up right in a open field and they will come right in. My younger brother and I connected on his first big Tom last year and he brushed against my blind B-lining to my decoys. Good luck this year!!

His father was right, a young child with a poptart is not a threat, but a bully hitting another student or causing true duress is a true threat! What is wrong with people?!

I can't believe we have some of these fools in office across the nation! Biden's statement about shooting two rounds off your balcony....really?! Do that and you go to jail, then they can turn it into people are unsafe with their weapons and there is your next round of weapon restrictions.. And Cuomo's rant about "You don't need ten bullets to kill a deer!" Well if you were educated like you want us to believe then you would know that it is already illegal to use ten rounds on deer and that deer hunting has no connection to ten round clips. He is just trying to find any connection that any other fool will say, "Gee you know what he is right. Lets get rid of (this and that)." And its sad that there are so many foolish Liberals out there and they keep electing these uneducated people into office.

Does anyone know when or if there is another planned 2nd Amendment rally down in Albany?

Any body know when they are planning another event like this? -
I don't know anyone who does or would use a .410 for deer. It is too small of a caliber unless you get lucky and can spine the deer.
