Looking into the legality of food plots.
SteveB replied to lsnydes's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
And the NYS legality of food plots was answered as soon as some one posted the link to the DEC website covering them. Pretty much everything posted since then has zero to do with the legality but rather how some want to judge other hunters. -

You might not understand the process for obtaining nuisance permits. Any one can apply, but none - especially 1st time - are simply given without a determination of real need and limitations for quantity. Like many things, more permits seemed to be used on the internet then in real life. -
No controversy at all. Just another example of why these posts are met with such skepticism. There is NEVER any verifiable evidence posted with the sightings and rumor reports.
-
No - from what I have seen, it is only a small % of bowhunters who had a problem with it.
-
Mountain Lions don't live in families - there are no breeding pairs anywhere in north America.
-
Sure? How? If you where positive, why not turn them in? I'm betting the DEC would love to put the hammer down on the few who might try to take advantage and discredit the program.
-
This - you cannot hide one scent with another from a deer.
-
The CT cat was proven not to be from the NE. Would love to see and verified dna, scat, or any physical evidence. Funny thing ion the sightings - more allegedly get sited here then in the states out west where they have seasons and bodies.
-
Same here this afternoon. Lots of farm fields and 1/2 mile from the lake. Sure it was waterfowl.
-
Tried tonight - 2 more steps and I wouldn't be on the computer now.

Never lost one there. Depending on angle, was always at least one lung. Those where harder tracking except for a 1 lung/liver down in 75 yds.
-
I addressed that in my post with 2 points. 1st - possible for a deer to survive a lung hit hit. 2nd - unless a deer is recovered, no one knows for sure where the arrow actually hit. There is no empty space in the chest area.
-
Yes. Absolutely nothing in it that can counter science and show there is a hollow spot an arrow can go threw between the spine and lungs - the area most often referred to as the "void". Doesn't matter if the deer is upside down, sideways, breathing in or out, the lungs are in contact at all times with the walls of the chest unless they or the diaphragm are punctured.
-
Sarcasm - been hearing them all week shooting with no one shot. Will be more of them out then youths. And they are the ones that could be upset for 200,000 bowhunters out this year in what has been their season.
-
Unless it was one of those pesky small game hunters.
-
A deer can occasionally survive a lung shot. But there is no "void" in the chest cavity where the arrow can be under the spine and miss the lungs. Certainly there are places an arrow can go that don't hit vitals and may appear to be a good hit like above the spine. Case could be made for this being a "no man's land" - but so would a hit in the hoof or knee. Fact is unless a deer is recovered, there is no way to verify where and what the arrow actually hit or how true it was flying at contact.
-
No - recovery is as important as the hunt to me. And recovery rates drop in the rain.

And whether or not they are trying to get re elected could heavily influence their choices. -

This is the single most important fact in determining who to vote for this year. -
I've saved a stand for a first sit about 75 yds from the stateland next to me.

He failed to show that he had anything positive that he wished to contribute and gave the impression he was here simply to argue, insult and entertain himself. He did manage to become elite and special as he is one of less then a handful ever banned here.
