  1. 16 feet up and 20 yds off a major trail. Behind my house in 7J.
  2. 7H/7J. I live right on the border so it depends on which way I turn out of my front door.
  3. The ECO's here will let you go without attaching the tag to the carcass, as long as it's still in contact with the ground. Hoist it up on your shoulders, bicycle, quad, golf cart, car, pickup truck, or tractor, and it better have the tag attached, or they'll take it. I watched it happen to a buddy of mine last season.
  4. I've got the SLP 165 and I love it. I'm not sure of the advantages over a traditional xbow, but it's fast and accurate and that's all that matters to me
  5. I've personally taken many does that were without fawns near, but were still very much nursing, as evident by the milk spilled while I field dressed them.
  6. You get 1 either sex tag if you buy either a bow or mz license. If you buy both, you get 1 either sex and 1 antlerless. Buy you can use your regular season tag in the late season as an either sex tag. You can only take 2 bucks per year.
  7. I say no to work as soon as I leave for the day, or weekend. My nights and weekends are mine and they don't bother me
  8. I'll be out with my Scorpyd on 11/1. I'm loving shooting it and can't wait to hunt with it.
  9. I left mine out from last year.
  10. Apparently, according to the Post Standard, there was a second shift of fishing that Andy was on. DAMMIT! I knew we should have stuck around
  11. Since most of the event details weren't made public "for security reasons", we were on the water nice and early this morning. We got to Emerson Park right when they were launching the boats, cruised up the channel to the launch site, made our presence known, then went back out the channel to set up there. We made sure that every boat saw us. We never laid eyes on King Andy, but the last boat out of the channel took a hard turn right away and sped away like none of the other boats did, so I suspect he was on it. A bunch of boaters, as well as a fair number of Cuomo's guests, gave us thumbs up and even said "Yes he does" as they went past us. There were LOTS of pictures taken of us, so if you see them, please email them to me at [email protected].
  12. My freezer is pretty much full. We got a good deal on a side of beef and a whole pig this summer, not to mention the salmon and halibut that I brought back from Alaska last month. Heck, I have almost 100# of beef, pork, and fish in the freezer at my mom's house! I'll be working on filling her freezer up some more come Oct 1!
  13. Raid makes an awesome spray that reaches 20+ feet. I keep a case of it on hand at ALL times for any bee problems on the property
  14. Only if you got your lifetime prior to 2004, I think. Otherwise you still have to pay the $10. I got mine last year and had to pay.
  15. I score him at antlers left in the woods and all the meat ground into burger. Tag filled and now to find a nice fat doe for freezer meat.
  16. I just finished planting PTT in one plot, hoping to get 2nd and 3rd plot done Sunday, then the trail through my woods next week.
  17. So, my wife has friends from college who live on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. Damn the luck, if it our trip just didn't coincide with the salmon run on the Kenai River. I fished mostly with my wife's friend's sister, and caught a mess of red and silver salmon. I went out for 2 days on a charter from Homer and caught this. First pic is a 170# halibut, plus a few others, we also caught ling cod, and rock bass. Second day, we boated 13 halibut (went for limit, not size) and 3 king salmon Freezer is full and I can't wait tll we go again.
  18. They're legal. At no point are they barbed. Nothing in the regs prohibits curved blades. I know lots of guys who've taken deer with these and the'll be on the tips of my xbow bolts and arrows this fall
  19. Yes Belo, I've only ever hunted with firearms. I did buy a bow earlier this year, however, I'm finding it difficult to find a bowhunter safety course that fits into my schedule. If I'm unable to find a course that works for me, I'll be able to take the xbow out on 11/1 and extend my season 2 weeks. It'll also allow me to hunt from my blind, which I won't do with the vertical bow because I have yet to master shooting a vertical bow from a seated position.
  20. I just picked up a new Xbow. Well, actually a leftover, but it's only been fired about 30 times. It's a Scorpyd 165 that I shot through the chrono at 413 this afternoon with a 400 grain bolt with field points. I can't wait til Nov 1 to go after deer with this thing.
  21. I'll just hit the lake and wait until after the first weekend. That way all the amateurs will be gone and I'll be able to fish. Haven't fished a stream on 4/1 in 20 years and have no intention to ever do so again. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  22. I almost always get a charter when fishing a new lake, especially if catching fish is on my list of things to do. Sure, you could get lucky setting up on the shore, but on a charter, you're much more mobile if the fish don't happen to be where you are. I've also found that charter captains are very knowledgable of the fishing on the lakes they charter on, and are very willing to share their knowledge, you just have to get them talking then they usually don't shut up! Lol.
  23. I blasted one with the .50 last season, just so it wouldn't bother me the next day, and because I'm sure he was telling the deer I was there. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  24. I hit the warm water outlet at Milliken on Cayuga this morning. I landed an 18" brown. I saw some nice rainbows, lakers, and even a LL salmon brought in. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  25. Definitely go with the 20g. If recoil is an issue, you can get managed recoil loads until her shoulder toughens up.
