    You picked up a second rifle to shoot it again after a center-mass shot with the .22-250? Why? It died within seconds of the first shot, as you described it.

    Once the 150 gr .30-06 Core Lokt or 250gr Hornady SST 20g slug gets done with them, only the yotes are eating them.

    One farm gives me permission to hunt deer as long as I get up there to hunt chucks after each cutting of hay. They're tired of breaking stuff hitting their dens once they collapse.

    Rained all night Saturday and last night here just outside of Ithaca. I haven't ventured out to check the plots, but my garden sure seems to be happy with it.

    So my wife and I are having an ongoing argument about this very topic. I say that I'll take my daughter in the field as soon as she says she wants to go. Wife says there's no way she's going and she's definitely not watching or helping gut a deer til she's at least 12. Thoughts?

    I've put a buck and a doe in my freezer and a doe in my sis's so far. As long as I'm not out plowing snow, I'll be trying to make it smoky near me. I could use another and the wife's sister could use one or 2 as well.

    I'm not exactly sure that my wife would appreciate me cooking and eating without her. Especially these.

    I got these out of a doe I shot this afternoon. I'm going to do my standard with them. Cook down a few slices of bacon, cut into 1/2 inch pieces, a chopped onion, and a can of sliced mushrooms. Once they are taking on color, I'll put the sliced loin on top for about 45 seconds on each side, then serve with the bacon, onions, and mushrooms on top. Anyone have any other great ideas for fresh inner loins?

    Which sabot slugs are you using? I've had EXTREMELY good performance out of Hornady SSTs in 20 ga.

    So I got home from work at 2 this afternoon. This girl was in my field, but didn't seem to care that I was home. I used my truck as cover and retrieved the Savage 220f from the house. Using the gas grill as my rest, I put a 250 gr Hornady SST through her pump station at 175 yards. She went 10 yards through some THICK briars and this is where I found her. Needless to say, it's an inner loin kind of dinner tonight.

    As long as they group good, buy them by the case. Nothing on the shelf can compare. Every deer I've shot with them, from 25-225 yards, has dropped within sight, if not upon impact. I won't shoot anything else through my Savage 220 or my ML.

    Got one with the Dirty .30 this morning. Next in line is the slug gun, then the ML's. Hoping to get one with each of them this year

    My wife dropped this guy at 705. 80 yds with .270 off the back deck. Now guess who suddenly had to go get the kid up and out of bed while I dressed it?

    I haven't taken a deer with the trusty Model 700 in .30-06 in a couple of years, so it's going out with me this morning. 150gr Remington Core-locks. Also going to try to bag one with the TC PH .50.

    Nothing buy Hornady in my slugger. 20g SST slugs in my Savage 220F are straight deadly at 225+ yds. I took a 225 shot on a doe last season and after seeing how the round performed (dropped her in her tracks and awesome wound channel), I won't hesitate to go to 275 this season. Yes, I'm zeroed that far.
