What Culver said... Just be sure to use a tough bullet designed to hold together and penetrate, like a Nosler partition or accubond, or my personal favorite, the barnes X bullet... Avois the highly frangible bullets designed for varmints..

You da MAN, Dubby !! Now you are ready for your sheep grand slam....Does Jenny like to hunt ?
-
Laetiporous Sulphureus…. That reminds me of what the doctor told me I had after hooking up with that one legged chick in Tijuana back in '72....
-
You're batting a thousand, Dubby….Might want to quit while you're ahead..Tough to beat perfection... Reminds me of a contest that I once entered for who could date the ugliest girl... My girl was so ugly she had marks on her from where people had been poking her with a ten foot stick...

Come on, Larry...You probably just can't remember all the chamberings.... Wasn't it Groucho Marx who said " I once killed an elephant in my pajamas...How he got in my pajamas I'll never know.." ..

That shotgun was high state of the art in western NY when I began hunting in the early 1960s, along with the Winchester M12, the Rem 870 Wingmaster and the Browning A 5... Sweet, Larry....

As far as I know here in Steuben County there are only two types..CC unrestricted and a permit to possess in the home but not carry...
-
Good luck, my friend...At one time I had the ambition of collecting the major battle rifles of WWII...That was back when you could get a nice Mosin Nagant for $75 and a nice #4 Enfield for $100 or so... After accumulating a dozen or so, I sort of ran out of room.. Seems like a divorce had something to do with it..hehehe...Sold a few of them...Several others, a 1938 K98 Oberndorf, two Japs, a type 99 and a type 38, a 1917 Mosin, and a 1944 Long Branch Enfield #4 are currently on display at my local Legion post..I still have my Garand and hunt with it a few times each deer season..I also have a Springfield 03A3, but it has been sporterized...Good shooter though and I picked it up with an older steel tubed Weaver scope for $250 a couple years ago..I hunt with it also...

I only carry when I go to dinner with people I don't like...
-
Buckshot has never been legal for deer in NY in the shotgun only ( southern zone) since the deer seasons opened here in 1939 or so..I don't know about the northern zone..

I love you, Man....Oh...I've told you that before, haven't I... Another cool suggestion for the Ballard.....303 British.... Although, in all fairness, one of the old straight case rounds would be more authentic, like the 45-70 you suggested or perhaps a 38-55....Dang, I gotta go take a cold shower now...

By an "all original" M1 Garand, can I assume you mean with no aftermarket parts , or perhaps just the original configuration..? The vast majority of Garands have been rebuilt at some time over the years...I consider mine original because it has no aftermarket parts that I am aware of, but since the receiver was made in 1943, I assume it may have been rebuilt several times..

Just so you know, Philo, I was wearing my lizard skin thong... I didn't want to show it off because I didn't want to offend the ladies at the table...Besides, it might have prompted TF to put on his pink bunny suit, and THAT would have embarrassing...
-
Being the svelte, macho stud that I am, I don't really have to worry..My entire body is a weapon..... I sometimes carry a gun just out of sympathy for the bad guys...I'd rather scare them away with a trinket than have to REALLY hurt them... After all, most of them probably suffered from traumatic childhoods or whatever....Poor things.....

The only time I ever NEEDED a concealed handgun was in NYC, and of course I did not have one...I was lucky that time.....A patrol car with four ( COUNT'EM FOUR) patrolmen came down the street and ran off the scumbags who did not even want to rob us, only cut us up because we were white boys... I decided at that time that I would never put myself in that position again...That was in 1972....I did have to return to NYC for business briefly in 1977, but that is the only time and the LAST time I will ever go there... I find it ironic that the place in NYS where I am most likely to NEED a handgun is the one place where I cannot legally carry one....

I get mine from the town clerk because she's good looking and I KNOW she is hot for old, fat short guys....Hehehe...
-
Beautiful pup....He just EXUDES personality......

Faced with a real chance of meeting a pissed off ,injured and desperate bear, such as tracking, I would say the .44 Mag makes sense...
-
I used to keep venison sirloin tip roasts for corning every year...I would cook them up for St. Patty's Day ( my birthday)... They turned out great, but I never froze them after corning... Good luck....
-
Only when it's occupied...I saw a video a year or so ago of two morons who attempted to rob a gunstore while two of the clerks were present..One of the clerks shot the lead bad guy with a large automatic pistol...I never saw anyone's head hit the floor so fast and so hard in my life...Perp did not survive...Pity....
-
Oh my !! He is an AGILE little prick, isn't he ?? Probably thinks he's Spiderman...
-
Too bad....Hope he suffered for awhile before he expired...
-
What's in the can, Greenie ?? You might have at least caught a buzz.....
