What Could or Possibly Also May Be in your Hunting Area
Pygmy replied to nobody's topic in General Hunting
Reminds me of my safari into the deepest, darkest Levitra Mountains seeking the source of the remote Wannabanger River, the mystic Viagra Falls... We had a mascot of the safari, a psychotic mountain gorilla named Bobo, who bore a striking resemblance to Mike Tyson.... One night Bobo got drunk on papaya juice and bit off the ears of all of our native packers... Actually, none of them seemed to mind too much except one poor nearsighted fellow who could no longer wear his glasses... -
Wait a minute !! I recognize her.... That's Gretchen Wilson after gaining 378 pounds !!

couldn't resist this 742 BDL for $350
Pygmy replied to eagle rider's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Those guns are very popular in the Dacks and in eastern Canada....I hunted as a guest out of an Adirondack camp in the early 1980s...Of the 20 rifles in camp , there were only 2 bolt actions, My Ruger 77 in .270 and a Win M70 carbine in 30-06...Nearly all the other rifles were Remmy pumps and autos, mostly in 30-06 and .308 with a couple of levers and a Ruger .44 auto thrown in for good measure.. I have a number of friends in Ontario and New Brunswick, and the Rem 740s and 742s are very popular there in deer and moose camps, again usually in .308 or 30-06... -
I applied for Maine moose tags for many years....So did lots of other guys that I know....To this day I don't know anybody who ever drew a tag, and the odds of drawing a Maine moose tag are MUCH higher than those of drawing a PA elk tag... If you want to hunt elk, quit wasting your time applying for a PA tag and go out west and hunt elk......The experience will be much better than shooting a half tame bull in somebody's back yard in Benezet, PA...

Good job Chas....That's a big ol' dolly deer for this area....I've weighed quite a few and a doe that dresses over 100 pounds in these parts is a pretty big doe...

Hmmmmmm.. You must hunt near Seneca lake......<<wink>>.... Nice bucks ! <<grin>>.... -
DAMN !..Down here in " Little Appalachia", any male older than twelve who shows up in public in anything but Wranglers ( preferably stained with blood, oil or grease) is required to IMMEDIATELY turn in his man card....

The trend in recent years has been to press criminal charges in such "accidents", and rightfully so... If it went down as reported, it sounds like a case of criminally negligent homicide at the very least.

Chocolate BEER ??...Damn, TF, that sounds disgusting !!

I have used the 120 Barnes for 10 years or more in my 7MM08 with excellent results....I use the 140 Barnes in my .280 Rem...

Two small bucks and couple of fawns....Antler size does not matter to me, but these bucks would not have dressed out 100 pounds soaking wet....A small deer takes almost as effort to process as a larger deer, and you get significantly less meat.... i'll hold out for at least an average sized 1.5 year old... That's the kind of trophy hunter I am.....Hehehehehe...

Good luck, my friend...Make a good shot and you will have no problems....

You had 4 trailcams stolen ? have you tried buying bear boxes or at least cable locks for them ? The bad guys would at least have to bring tools ( prybar, bolt cutters) to get them... I would set a trailcam ( with a cable lock) to monitor the tree where you took the trailcam, although since it is the night before gun season it is probably a little late now.. Good luck, my friend....

Sure they do if you hit the CNS or major bones, just like any other rifle, shotgun or muzzleloader...Center neck shot or shoulder shot will drop them in their tracks.. On a body shot where the deer runs 100+ yards, the blood trails may not be as good...
