  1. I had a couple of those hats made from female pubic hair....I had a snow camo hat made from 3 Swedish girls.... I also had had jungle camo hats made from an Italian girl..I got 3 hats for the price of one...
  2. That first buck will be a DANDY next year !!......Hehehehe.....
  3. That is a dandy buck Dan....You still coming south to hunt next week ?
  4. Hmmmmm...I suspect that perhaps they are being kept as love slaves by a perverted tribe of lesbian Huron Amazon Indians... Since they slaughter all of their male children at birth, they need to kidnap poor unsuspecting male hunters for breeding stock, or face extinction...
  5. Now if only you can lure a buck into your basement, you're all set !!....Hehehe..
  6. Tough break, John....This year will be my 53rd opening day of NY deer season and I have been fortunate enough never to miss one...I even was lucky enough to schedule a week's leave each of the two years that I was on active duty in the service... Closest I ever came to missing one was a frigid morning about 40 years ago when my oil furnace quit working...I hunted the first couple of hours and then had to go home and work on my furnace to keep the pipes in the house from freezing...BUT I was still in the woods opening day for the first couple of hours...
  7. I quit counting years ago, but in rough figures I have probably killed about 70 deer with shotgun slugs, 60 with various centerfire rifles and maybe 25 with a muzzleloader ... I have never hunted much with small bore like .22 centerfires, although I shot one with a .222 Rem and 2 or 3 with a 25-06... The majority of my rifle killed deer have been shot with a 7mm08 and a .280 rem, along with a couple with a 30-06 and a couple with a 9.3 x 62, which is roughly equivalent to a .35 Whelen. The shotgun slug deer were killed with foster slugs, Brenneke slugs, and Win BRI sabot slugs....never used any of the newer high tech shotgun slug loads...All my MZ deer were shot with .50 cal round balls or NoExcuses 460 grain conicals.. I don't recall any real trend for better blood trails from one weapon to another....On a broadside shot I usually line up with a foreleg and aim about 1/3 of the way up the ribcage...That has resulted in many heart shots, and many times broke a foreleg in the process..They run off with a foreleg flopping and usually drop within sight.. I have had a few that were hit high or high and slightly back that ran quite a ways and did not leave good trails...Two deer in particular would have been difficult to track without good snow...Another there was no snow and I could not track it, but fortunately it was found by another hunter...Those three deer were shot with three different instruments, a shotgun with slugs, a 7mm08 with 120 barnes, and a MZ with a heavy conical.. Nearly all of the deer I have hit in the low chest or center lungs have left good blood trails Soo, from my limited experience I am guessing that WHERE you hit has a lot more to do with the blood trail than WHAT you hit them with, within reason..
  8. I'll be lying in a ditch trying to shoot a goose... I'll have so many clothes on, my is worry is being able to raise up into shooting position if and when the birds set in... I'll probably just lay there like a beached whale....Hehehehe...
  9. Yeah, but they make the most satisfying THUMP when they hit the ground from about 30 yards up ..Hehehe.......
  10. I don't know.....A friend ( of 50 years) just called and said he had a feeding field for geese nailed down for tomorrow morning... . SOOOOOO, after busting my nutz doing honeydos today, I have been getting decoys, etc around for the morning... Tomorrow morning at daylight, I'll be lying in a diversion ditch alongside a corn stubble field with a couple dozen decoys out hoping to shoot some geese...In 20 degree temps.....And the damn geese may well decide to feed elsewhere tomorrow... Why do I hunt ?? I wonder myself sometimes, but WTF..I'm 67 and I may be dead the day after tomorrow...Hehehehe..
  11. I LOVE you Man...<<choke>>...<<sniff>>.... Hehehehe.....
  12. Happy birthday, Joe !! Going out to have a few brews with your buddy Chuck Norris ??....<<grin>>.....
  13. FWIW, I shoot the the 460 grain NE bullet ahead of 80 grains of loose 3F 777 in my old TC Hawken...Since I am using #11 caps instead of 209 primers, I feel I get a little better ignition with the 3F rather than the 2F...Shoots plenty flat enough for 100 yard shots, which is farther than I have ever shot anything with my MZ..Sighted 2 inches high at 50 yards I am dead on at 100..
  14. When I am hunting I feel really FREE of all of life's burdens and responsibilities, even if it only for a few hours... Besides that, I like to shoot stuff......
  15. Healthy food only....Usually Mr Goodbar, Snickers, Reeses cups, Almond Joy and Payday....Water to wash it down, or to wash down the snuff residue before I eat my candy bars...
  16. JD straight up chased with beer or water.......I also like Crown the same way, but it is more expensive... A Canadian friend turned me on to Forty Creek a couple of years ago, and I like it, but have not found it locally... In a pinch I can get along very well with BV or some other blends....I am not a big bourbon fan, but I have had a couple different bourbons that were very good.. ..I also like GOOD scotch, but can't afford it...The cheaper scotch tastes too much like charcoal. I do like a good Manhattan, but never could understand why someone who likes whiskey would want to mix it with soda pop.
  17. I was just going to post the same thing, Curmudgeon...Lots of critters for one little gut pile.. Nice pictures, Dave Jr...
  18. HE'S A dandy !!.....Congrats, John !! I want to know what that bad boy weighs, dressed..!!
  19. The Hornady Great plains is a fine bullet, and it shoots accurately in a number of MZs I have had experience with..They also don't cost an arm and a leg...Another excellent conical is the NoExcuses, if they still make them..They are the easiest loading, most accurate bullet I have shot in my old TC Hawken .50 cal.... last time I bought them they were about 75 cents apiece, including shipping from Utah, but that was a few years ago...
  20. Hell no !! That's bible thumpin', holy rollin', Jesus quotin', born again, swamp fox BAPTIST !!
  21. Front and center, Larry......" This buck.....this Havelon..."
  22. Of course you are....And I'm a Fundmantalist Baptist Minister....
