I generally just tip waitresses, bartenders and the pizza delivery guy. Many years ago my parents used to leave a fifth of Seagram's in the mailbox every xmas for the mailman. At that time we had to walk about 1/4 mile to the mailbox because the route did not come down our road. I got lots of good exercise walking back and forth to the mailbox every day checking to see if my " Captain America secret de-coder ring" had arrived yet.

Hey..!! I saw that guy in a Bruce Lee flick once.. He was a ninja gunsmith and he was installing an extra long barrel on an AK 47...I think the flash hider was aftermarket.....<<smile>>...

Inland M1 carbine for Deer? .30 carbine ammo
Pygmy replied to Deerstalker's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
They make aftermarket 5 round mags for carbines. They also make 5 round and 2 round en bloc clips for garands..I have 2 of the 5 round clips that I use when I carry my M1 deer hunting... By CARRY, I mean sling it for perhaps a couple hundred yards and then sit in a treestand or a ground blind.. I don't hunt with it if I am going to do a lot of walking ( 10+ pounds LOL)..... -
Cool pictures Al... Our house/yard dawg when I was a kid was an Airedale.....

Felony charges in Caledonia hunting death
Pygmy replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in General Chit Chat
That is as it should be.. I don't have the details at hand, but I read in the local paper that another guy who mistook another man as a deer at fully TWO HOURS before legal shooting hours has been charged with criminal assault plus some other criminal charges as well as game violations such as shooting before legal hunting time. The victim survived but was seriously injured with a leg wound. -
You all are much too lenient...I recommend drawing and quartering.... A game warden running a robodeer on state land up near Monterrey a few years ago had a sense of humor... A guy shot at the deer and the wardens sprung from their blind and nailed him... While they were writing him up, one of the wardens told the violator " You're the third guy we've arrested here this morning..If it makes you feel any better, you're the only one that hit the deer"....

They have more of a "nutty" flavor......<<grin>>....

"Sheepsquash "...!! Dang, Al... I LOVE it when you talk dirty !!.....
-
Better not shoot Bigfoot, because it will turn out to be your cousin Jethro's buddy Bubba in a gorilla suit.... Mountain lion ?? Heck NO officer, I didn't shoot it.. Just found it dead in the woods..
-
I think that they are nearly as credible as the NYS/DEC's stocking of mountain lions and coyotes to reduce the state's deer herd...

Tremendous buck......CONGRATS !!

When did you shoot your mule deer ? My buddy and I shot 2 adult mule deer bucks in Colorado during the early high country hunt in 2001...They were shot the first week of September , still in velvet and had been feeding on grass above treeline...We had them cut up locally and shared the meat..Had no idea which was which, but it was some of the best venison I have ever had ...Better than any whitetail and nearly as good as prime, fat caribou.. The last mule deer I shot was during the rut, about the 2nd week of November.. My outfitter told me that it was not worth bringing home..I donated the meat to an outfit that grinds it, makes sausage and donates it to needy folks in the area...

In my area any doe that dresses out over 100 pounds is a pretty big doe.. There are some exceptions, however..One was weighed in a local deer contest a couple of years ago that dressed 170.
-
I agree, TF...Whooping cranes are the same way....Just slightly better than spotted owl...
-
Best without a doubt was pre-rut caribou killed in early September.. I have never eaten rutting caribou, but I have heard that it is so rank that dogs won't even eat it. The worst I remember were diving ducks such as goldeneyes and buffleheads , however among my favorites are local mallards, blacks, teal and woodies. As for white meat gamebirds, bobwhite quail are my favorite...I much prefer them to grouse or pheasant. Bullfrog legs are wonderful....Snapping turtles are very good, but are a lot of bother to clean. Wild pigs..The sows and piglets are excellent....The older boars are a bit strong for my taste.

Fishers are like mink...Even in RELATIVELY high populations there aren't very many of them. Think of them in terms of square miles per animal, rather than animals per square mile.

Dang ! Looks like about as much fun a guy can have with his clothes on ! Thanks for sharing, Nick !
-
Chances are VERY slim that you will see him there again But What the heck....... Do you have anything else to do tomorrow morning?? Ya never know, unless you are there. Good luck Chris...

Cool !! A hunting buddy of mine took a forkhorn in PA a few years ago with an 18" spread. With PAs antler restrictions ( 3 points to a side in that unit) it was NOT a legal buck....<<sigh>>....
-
Beautiful buck...I love those gnarly antlers... It's not going to score real high due to deductions and relatively short tines...I think it would be a stretch to score 120 (net).. However, it would be the buck of a lifetime for many hunters, myself included ..Congrats, my friend....
-
I hear, you, Larry.....I have retired my old Buck 110 for fear of losing it...TWICE over the years I have gone back to a kill site to paw through the leaves to recover it...
-
Yeah Growie...If I remember back in those days they sent a monkey down with a camera...( Brownie)...
-
Geeze, I almost hate to post this, because I am a great admirer of quality/ classic knives and own a couple dozen of them... I have a Buck 110 that was a gift from my (ex) wife on our first Xmas together that I used to butcher two adult Alaska bull moose in one day back in 1989... However, last year my Canuck buddy Gator gave me a Havelon... Holy CRAP, Batman, what a tool to dress a deer !!...I used it on three whitetails this year and I swear it made the job faster and TWICE as easy as any knife I have ever used...

At last the news is out...I am indeed a gastrorectumologist...I have not mentioned it prior to now because I did not want to boast .. lawdwaz let the cat out of the bag...<< sigh>>....
