  9. Yup....My destroyer would pull into Newport Naval Base every few months and tie up to the Destroyer Tender Puget Sound ( we called her the Pubic Mound) for repairs....I did my first salt water fishing from the destroyer piers there...Caught my first stripers and blues there, along with various sand sharks, skates, bergalls, eels and the occasional c**t cover flounder... The base also had a nice gun club where we could shoot skeet and trap for about a dollar a round, including shells..
  10. I drank a lot of Narragansett back in 1971/72 when you were crapping your diapers....Hehehe...
  11. Seven for me, unless you count duty on a USN Destroyer as a cruise....
  12. That's strange..After a dry June there should be poults all over the place..I have not seen any either..I have seen a big hen on the property several times, so big I thought she was a jake until I put the binocs on her...Nary a poult...
  13. 30 miles or so can make a big difference, for whatever reason....Over the many, many years I have hunted, the really BIG bucks seem to come from an area around Bradford, and in a pattern northwest of there...Lots of deer down here around here on the Pennsyltucky border, but damn few really big bucks...The heaviest buck I have ever seen on a set of scales weighed 185 dressed, and he was killed in early bow season when he was still larded up with fat...The highest scoring buck I have personally seen was taken on the Frog Hollow Road off Meads Creek..A real clean typical 10 that scored 168.....
  14. Awesome buck....I have hunted since the early 1960s and I have never seen a buck of that caliber on the hoof, in season or out...A few dead ones, but never a live one...
  15. When I saw the title of this thread, I had to check and make sure my fly was zipped...

  18. Given a safe shot against a mud bank, any centerfire " mid turtle" will work fine...The .223 would be good... You can also catch them on set lines baited with most any kind of meat...Chicken gizzards, freezer burned venison,, whatever..
  19. They may be common, Rob, but I have never seen one in my 70 years and I tend to pay attention to such things...Nice find !!

  21. "Friendly Fire"... The ultimate oxymoron......
  22. Hmmmmm..I wonder if my favorite is on there The BLM Theme song.... " Let's tear down all of the Confederate Statues and erase much of our country's history because it offends us and BESIDES, all of those white folks owe us an apology for what their forefathers did 200 Years Ago".... It has an easy to follow RAP beat....
  23. Back in the day, all the county fairs had shooting galleries with the Win pump guns, as did many of the local amusement parks, such as Eldridge Park in Elmira...
