  1. The E3 is taking some nice pics so far. It's facing almost due west so that causes these darker late afternoon pics but I kinda like it, gives the pic a neat look.
  2. I'm laying down Seed tomorrow morning. Really wanted to have it in before the rain we got Tuesday but I had to wait on my neighbor to finish discing. He's a busy guy so not much I could do about that. Just happy he does it at all! Plot looks great now though. Even without the rain the morning dew should be enough to get things going until the next rain.
  3. Wax anytime the string looks dry enough to need it. I usually put it on a little heavy to work it around and into the string with my fingers. Once there's a nice waxy cloudy look to the string I call it good. Just keep checking it every time you shoot, if it looks to be wearing off put a little more on. After hunting rainy or snowy days are good times to check the wax on your strings to
  4. Awesome buck Fletch. Keep an eye on him. Velvets gonna be coming off soon, patterns will start to change a bit. Opening day should be a nail biter for ya!
  5. Shot last weekend with my buddy and noticed I was hitting low on everything from 40 yards and out. Also lost the bubble level in my HHA sight and spent over an hour combing the lawn looking for it. Add in my cable slide making noise on the post and I said alright time for a trip to the bow shop. Stopped in there this morning after work and Jim at flying arrow spent over an hour with me getting my bow back in shape. New bubble on order and found my strings to be stretching out a bit which caused me to lose yardage once I get out to 40 and farther. He cranked on the limbs to compensate for the string stretch and that brought me back to dead center at 40 again. Should of took pics but I forgot. Can't thank Jim at Flying Arrow enough for the time he puts in on getting me all fixed up. Didn't charge me a dime either, truly great service. I told him this is the last season with this bow, next spring/summer I'll be back in for a new one. I was tempted to pick up a new Bowtech Reign 6 this morning but I need to save that money for my trip to Nebraska lol
  6. Congrats!! Nice big gator! Can't wait to hear this story
  7. That's a bummer on battery life. My older trophy cam has been messed up since day 1. Video has never worked on it and if I use it where there's lots of sunlight it takes tons of total white out pics. I should of returned it shortly after I bought it but I didn't feel like shipping it back out. If I keep it in the woods under a good canopy to block the light it does pretty good. I think the main reason I've kept it around is because it's so good on batteries. That thing will go over a year on cheap o AAs. Takes a lot of pics too.
  8. Ya I noticed all the brownings were gone. Doesn't surprise me too much though since they are good cams. Other than the bushnell being a tad tardy on switching to IR at dusk its pic quality is just as good if not better than my strike forces. I have a older bushnell trophy cam that's been a king at battery life which I'm hoping this new one is too.
  9. Haha I did the same thing! Had an old Moultrie that's been dead for awhile I took in and picked up the bushnell E3, the $99 dollar one or whatever. I've only had it out for a week but I checked it once already just to make sure it was working alright and it's doing good. I'm pretty impressed with the speed and pics for the price. As long as it is as reliable as my one other bushnell I'll be happy considering the price.
  10. You'd be surprised how many guys on those guided trips want absolutely nothing to do with gutting or even dragging it out. I was really surprised when I was doing it how many guys couldn't even watch me gut, they were to grossed out by it. Couldn't even get some to hold the legs.
  11. It sure is. I don't think you can call yourself a hunter if you don't take part in the gutting and dragging.
  12. Took my course many years ago but we didn't shoot at the one I took. We did do the mock blood trail though. Can't hurt to bring the bow with ya
  13. I wasn't allowed to hunt if I couldn't gut and butcher my own deer. I grew up watching my dad and uncle take care of their deer and when I shot my first deer my old man helped walk me through everything but after that I was on my own and he wouldn't let me take any deer if I wasn't going to do the work myself. Maybe that's the old school way idk but I always felt it was the way it's supposed to be. The only time I will drop a deer off to be butchered for me is if I'm on an out of state hunt. At home I will gut them in the field and hang them from the apple tree in the back yard. If I'm hunting somewhere way back in, I will quarter it up in the field and pack it out instead of killing myself dragging.
  14. Good luck! Hope ya get a monster gator! Got me craving fried gator right now[emoji51]
  15. Slick tricks shot well for me. I had to adjust my rest so very slightly as they wandered a little to the right when I shot 40 yards and over. I keep one slick trick in my quiver all the time as my coyote/misc animal arrow.
  16. While I like the price...it weighs 37 pounds![emoji15]. Not something I want to drag around several miles at a time lol. I actually looked at these for use at home where weight means nothing since I can get my atv anywhere I want but I wrote them off due to lack of full platform use. If the seat flipped up and out of the way I'd get a few but I don't like the metal bar that holds the seat up and blocks access to the rest of the platform. Would be a really good stand if they just made it a flip seat some how.
  17. Of the reviews I've read it seems like the hard to get out of the seat is the only negative. I'm not sure it will be a problem for me though. I'm in decent shape and just under 6ft tall so I wouldn't think I'd struggle to much. I just really want something comfy enough to sit in all day long. I have a pretty bad back from my motocross days so I start getting a lot of lower back pain after 4-5 hours of sitting on a regular flat top seat most hang on stands use. I've tried thicker seat pads but they don't help all that much. Glad to hear they are well liked stands. I kinda want the m150 monster but I think it's going to be to heavy to carry a few miles. Plus I might move my stand location around a couple times over the course of our 2 week hunt. Anyone use the Hawk Helium sticks? I'm thinking of pairing them with the m100 for a nice lightweight setup. I know the lone wolf sticks have high regards but they seem like way to much money for sticks with foot pegs on only one side.
  18. Anyone use the millennium M100u hang on? Been eyeballing these stands for a couple years now waiting for a good reason to spend that kind of money on a hang on. Since I'll be headed to Nebraska for 2 weeks the end of October I'm looking for a new stand to bring with me. We are hunting public land and it's a long walk in I guess so I need something light weight but also very comfy as I plan on doing a bunch of all day sits. Just wondering if anyone has one of the M100u stands and how they like it, pros cons and all that.
  19. 2nd discing done 2 days ago. Neighbor called me today to say he'd be back over for a 3rd and final rip. Most of the field could be planted as is. But one more discing will really make it perfect all the way across. This is the worst looking section. Farther out in the pic is the north end of the plot that was sprayed and that area looks perfect and ready to go.
  20. Man that sucks to hear you have lost that many. You really should try setting up a dummy cam to see who and if anyone messes with it. Trailcampro.com sells dummy cams for like $10 a piece I think. If your losing that many cams it's probably worth the 10 bucks to try and catch someone. Not like it would really affect the wildlife your trying to capture anyways. Hope you don't lose any more!
  21. No check for me. Been with Verizon for 10 years to. But I did get a check for $350 from Bosch for their doings in the whole VW emissions scandal thing. So I guess I'm still way ahead compared to those Verizon checks lol
  22. They are good reliable quads. Plenty of power too. Should be a great machine for your son. My sister had a Suzuki Eiger 400 that me and my buddy's flipped rolled and sank in the sacandaga lake a few dozen times and it never quit.
  23. When I guided in Pike county Illinois I had one of my reconyx cams setup on top of this big hill that had a small pond at the top. I was catching some great bucks like this one up there About halfway through the season I pulled the card and popped it into my MacBook only to see the card come up on my desktop as "GAMESPY" and not "RECONYX" as usual. Now I've never used a game spy product in my life so I knew right away something was wrong. After looking through my pics I could tell a lot had been deleted as there were big gaps and no monster bucks. This area was pretty close to the property line and my boss told me that the neighbors weren't exactly friendly as they had issues with them in the past. I'm glad they didn't take my camera but it's pretty ballzy to mess with someone's pics like that. At least your camera wasn't taken that's all you can ask for I guess lol. Might have to start locking up the doors on them.
  24. Hell ya good ones there! That drop tine buck would keep me up at night for sure lol. Just think about the ones your not even seeing yet! Your in for a good season buddy. Only chance I have of tagging a drop tine is the 2 weeks I'll be in Nebraska, before I go and after I get back my chances are slim to none haha.
