  1. Hellwig makes a add-a-leaf that just goes right on top using U bolts to hold it on there. Crank down on the U bolts to stiffen it up. I put them on my F150 last summer. Cheap too, $162 if I remember right.
  2. I thought he was building a smoker when he got back with the meat. That drying rack thing he made I can’t remember what he called it. But he should put walls and a roof on it and use it as a smoker if he’s smart. But your right, smoke the big chunks then get to slicing and jerk almost all of it and he should be able to hold out on that for quite awhile.
  3. Lol nice. I’m not a big Chevy fan so I can’t remember how they went about lowering the SS’s but i would imagine they obviously would of designed it so that you still retained a decent amount of suspension travel. I’m sure they didn’t go cheap and chop it is what I’m tryin to say here lol. But ya no matter what you do it’s still gonna handle like a truck for the most part. Physics kinda trumps everyone’s hopes and dreams in this department lol.
  4. Will be plenty of meat to last him awhile. I’d like to see him utilize the hide and other parts of it for something. Not sure if he will but I’m hoping he’s got the smarts to utilize every part of it. Some research on Native Americans would be a big help to these contestants. They were true masters of utilizing everything to its fullest potential.
  5. Depends on how much coin you wanna spend on a lowering kit. Your average joe kit isn’t going to ride smooth. A lot of the kits are taking away suspension travel so you won’t get the extra travel to soften the blows. Take a Ram for example...using springs in all 4 corners, the easiest way to lower would be using shorter springs. Those springs still need to support the same weight but are now a lot shorter. So you end up with a spring rate that’s wayyyy stiffer than stock to keep your capacity up while giving the lowered look. There’s pros and cons to it but I don’t see how lowering would be a good thing in this state with how crappy our roads are and the weather(snow) we get.
  6. But what benefit are you gonna see from lowering when your constantly pounding through the massive potholes? You’ll need a chiropractor and a dentist after riding around my area in a slammed truck.
  7. I don’t want to spoil it on anyone...so I’m just gonna say that if a certain someone who shot that big something can preserve it, he’s golden and has no excuse not to win. Just my 2 cents....
  8. Even with a good chunk of land behind my house, I may be spending a bunch of time this fall on a new 5 acre piece I’m currently trying to buy. It’s landlocked, dirt cheap and only 1/2 mile from my house. Went and scouted it last night. Deer sign all over the place! Now I just have to wait and hear back from the county land bank....
  9. New generation ecoboost engines have gone to a hybrid injection system using both direct and port to avoid the carbon build up. 174k on my early build 2011 ecoboost and still running strong with no valve cleaning
  10. I’m gonna guess the new rangers are like the F150 ecos and won’t start getting better mpg until you get a few thousand miles on it. They are programmed to run a little rich for the first couple thousand for break in. I saw a significant mpg increase after 5000 miles. Awesome new ride though! Keep this thread updated. The ranger is in the lineup when I’m ready for a new ride.
  11. From what I can gather from your previous posts, your much older than I am. Which means you’ve lived through the years of lax laws on drinking and driving. If you made it through those years, I don’t think you have much to worry about now...
  12. Better off leaving it alone. Cops might not even bother with it if you call. Just be thankful it’s a couple weed plants and not a meth lab.
  13. You should be fine with the gasser. That engine has been around since 2004 with solid reliability. A guy I work with just bought a 19 gas engine Titan and he’s back in the shop but not for engine issues. His AC system wouldn’t work. They told him blown O-ring on the compressor.
  14. Turbo control module plus more turbo related stuff and possibly egr? I don’t really know for sure as the dealer isn’t sure either. Nissan engineers told them they have a handful of parts coming and to swap everything they send out. But then a few days later they call and tell me about the backorder. We have 42k I believe on ours. It has then Cummins diesel. Do you have the diesel or gas?
  15. I may be looking for a new truck again as well. The 2016 Titan I bought for my wife last year has been in the shop for 3 weeks now with a unsure time of completion. Could be weeks could be months they are telling me. Some crap about parts on world wide back order waiting for various companies to make the parts still. Not happy being told I might not have my truck back for months. Wife has been on the phone with Nissan corporate trying to get them to do something for us. Apparently there are 4 thousand other people waiting for the same parts also. All I know is they better be giving me another truck to drive as this Altima is not cutting it.
  16. 173k on my 2011 eco boost. I’ll be rolling 200k in a little less than a year most likely. The rust is eating my truck alive though.
  17. When I was hauling fuel 8-9 years ago I actually delivered to the old Schrade factory. I’m pretty sure they shut it down in 2004. When I was there it was already turning into your typical run down abandon factory. Whoever owns the building was still heating a portion of it though as I delivered 2500 gallons of heating oil.
  18. That is for sure a bad corner to be flying around. I’ll admit I don’t do 35 through there, more like 45 but that’s plenty fast enough.
  19. Well we gave it hell this morning but no luck. Tons of birds gobbling around us until about 8oclock. Then silence. Didn’t hear anything after that. Had a lone hen come wandering into our setup about 930. Packed up and walked around a bit hitting the call every few mins trying to strike a gobble but nothing would bite. Might try again in the morning if I can wake up on time, but it’s looking like this weekend will be the last shot we have.
  20. Hunting with a buddy who has permission to hunt a golf course. There’s loads of gobblers here. Since there isn’t a huge amount of woods to roam we are sticking to one spot for most the morning hoping to draw one in. We listened to at least 12 different birds going off this morning. It was cool listening to them shock gobble at the booms of thunder. And good thing we brought a blind to sit in, rains on and off every 20 mins or so. Everything got quiet 30 mins ago but hoping something is headed our way silently.
  21. Honey, anchovies, cool aid mix pack. Second day we added bacon grease left over from breakfast. My buddy put some apple slices in his can. I think you can put just about anything in there.
  22. I did mine with a sterno burner. The stuff in the can burnt off long before the sterno had died out. We had a DEC officer stop at our camp that trip and we showed him our burn cans and everything we planned on putting in them. He didn’t mention anything about the 1.5 oz rule (I already knew about it and was waiting for him to say we had more than 1.5) but all he said was that what we had looked like the bears would be loving that smell. We didn’t leave the cans out overnight so no one could say it was as close to baiting as we could get. Make sure you bring a big ziploc for it, my buddy forgot his and his pack still stinks like fried honey anchovies lol.
  23. They sure do. Stick a few anchovies in there and the smell really gets goin!
  24. Good luck to everyone out today. I can’t believe I haven’t been out yet this season! Work sucks! I took tomorrow off and will be headed out in the AM with a buddy to see if we can’t get him his first bird, doubling up would be even better.
  25. I don’t think the state as a whole identifies as a sanctuary state. NYC identifies as a sanctuary city though.
