  1. Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter. I don't think I'd drive more than 5 minutes to hunt squirrels, never mind all the way to Virginia.
  2. In that case, condoms are probably something you'd better not forget. LOL
  3. We had a few from the pygmy tribes sing with us back in Tanzania, so we'd love to have you sing along with us! By the way, in opera terminology you'd probably be considered a "castrato" with that unfortunate incident you had. LOL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castrato
  4. http://huntingny.com...4-point-brutus/ If I'm not mistaken, his very first post on this forum was to show off the buck. I don't remember anyone bashing him about it here. Now he's in some sort of fit over what?? Makes ZERO sense to me. I reckon antlers can mess up peoples minds.
  5. Hahahaha! You can remember the B&C scores of your bucks better than you can remember your children's birthweight's and measurements and then you say you don't treasure antlers? Hahaha, that's the joke of the month!
  6. Wow, I don't think I have ever seen a taxidermist who looked better than their taxidermy work. Until now that is. LOL
  7. +1 Your camp does look nice, but most hunters want to buy things at a bargain(most especially these days), so I really don't think a hunter will value those "extras" you talk about any more than a realtor or anyone else would. Just like with any property you are selling, the improvements or extras that you might have added, you added for your own enjoyment and benefit. This don't mean it will be of any value to the new buyer, plus a smart buyer won't show that they might be enthusiastic about any "extras" that they might actually like on your property. In a nutshell you WILL get lowballed on such a property. You can count on that.
  8. You do "treasure" your antlers though! LOL Who the hell said that hunting is the ONLY time we should reflect on the meaning of life and death? Surely not me. If however, death doesn't cross your mind in the least when you do bring something down while hunting, then I do think something is not right.
  9. Burt, please clarify. I don't know what you mean by _ _ _ _ _.
  10. I'm still trying to figure out what "bump" he is referring to. Maybe Elmo's have something different than the rest of us??? Although it looks like my kids toy Elmo doesn't have anything at all.
  11. Well why would the buck be worried if someone else got her first? How would he know? Does he ask her? Many human males don't even care who might have got her first, as long as they are going to get their kicks at the moment. LOL
  12. It's all your fault, Elmo, for telling us your brother and you like the gun. LOL Did you ever read Jeff Cooper's books and blog? He was a know-it-all extraordinaire!! Constantly talked about his Scout rifle like he had diarrhea. One main reason I would never buy it. Other than him and a few other gun writers who were kissing up to him, I have never seen anyone hunt with one.
  13. Well, I guess if "looks" could kill, these type of guns would drop every deer in its tracks each and every time. It sort of don't work that way, though.
  14. http://www.ruger.com/products/m77HawkeyeCompact/models.html This one has the same barrel length and weighs over a pound less, too. Probably would weigh the same with a scope as the Scout would without one. Also will hurt your wallet a lot less. Like I said I can't see ONE good reason to buy the Scout.
  15. Sounds like a great deal eventhough the scope is a bit much. I have heard some good things about that Marlin. It ain't an expensive rifle but can shoot along with the best of them.
  16. OK guys, we are taking this off topic, but please tell me what makes this a deer rifle or a coyote rifle?? http://www.ruger.com/products/gunsiteScoutRifle/models.html Maybe the flash suppressor?? The bulky detachable clip? LOL I guess grenade launcher attachments will be standard equipment on deer rifles in a year or two? I guess I'm prejudiced because the designer of the original scout rifle, Jeff Cooper, kept talking about it in every other paragraph of his non-stop rants. He made it out to be the best thing since sliced-bread, yet I have NEVER seen a hunter carrying one in all my years. Honestly, I see nothing in it an ordinary short barrelled bolt-action can do just the same without all the glitz. To have the scope mounted so far in front of your face is as useless as anything can be on any big game rifle, most especially a deer rifle. Worthless design, that few people will give you anything but chump change for if you ever want to sell it.
  17. Don't want to take this off topic, but for me the scout rifle has got to be the most worthless bolt action rifle I ever saw. I can see absolutely NO good purpose or use for it.
  18. LOL guys!! I noticed that just like for deer hunting where he hunts with a recurve bow, he kills them bugs only with a size 4 1/2 flip flop. More potent weapons like loafers, cowboy or work boots are a no no for him! LOL
  19. LOL!!! I just looked up the site. He's stirring things up over there too!
  20. Probably the best thing to do is to take it to a good gunsmith. For safety sake most of all. Doesn't cost too much to get a trigger adjusted. I did it on my M700 about 10 years ago and it was the best $40 I ever spent. Day and night difference to what it was originally.
  21. You sound like NYantler talking about deer. Maybe we can find him on a bug forum? He probably calls himself NYbugger. LOL
  22. For the mere fact we post and argue on a HUNTING website, the death of a deer should have some sort of effect on every damned one of us here! Yes, we kill cockroaches and mosquitos without blinking an eye, but I highly doubt any of us spend the time and effort to join a bug killing forum and read and discuss the many facets of the creatures lives, habitat, and weapons available to bring them down. Many of us look forward to hunting all year, so the death of an animal in a successful hunt should have some very significant meanings to all of us. If it doesn't, then there really is something wrong.
  23. Thanks Dave. Look, I have said it before. Where I hunt, I can't afford to let deer walk like other hunters do, because I may not get to see another one, so I don't hesitate to shoot to kill when I do see one. So to some people, I am a "if its brown, its down" type of hunter. They can call me what they wish, but I can honestly say that I have never walked up to the deer that I shot without taking a few moments to reflect on what I just did, which was to put a living creature to DEATH. If we forget this fact then in my opinion we are nothing but killers with little regard to what we are doing. That is not what we hunters should be.
