Nice job! Congrats to you both! Looks like you had a great time together!

My son is home from college on a 4 day mini-break. This is his only opportunity to bowhunt this season, so we're hitting it pretty hard for his sake. Won't be home again until Thanksgiving, so he'll miss the first part of gun season too... If it wasn't for that, I would be home in my cozy warm bed, still snuggled up next to mamma!

Back in the saddle. 46 with a little breeze. I've only seen a doe and 2 fawns in the past 7 hunts.... Not a good or promising start to the season.

Guess I'm not the only one not seeing anything...

I was just thinking the same thing! Maybe I should have dressed warmer. Have mesh hat, mesh facemask, mesh gloves, and a very thin jacket on. Getting down right chilly!

Congrats to her! Nice big doe!

Not sure if either I didn't see anything OR if I blacked out from all the methane gas that I inhaled from the manure on the field behind me!?!?!? Glad I don't have to stop anywhere on my way home. People would probably think I sh crapped myself!

Thought they would have been moving with the storm headed in. Dark sky, very windy, but no rain yet.

OMG... The farmer disced the field next to me (25 yards from my stand) and spread manure! The wind is blowing it right to me...... BARF!!! Suppose its good cover scent though...

Crossbow Review: Scorpyd Ventilator
Cabin Fever replied to TheFieldArcher's topic in CrossBow Hunting
Very nice! You do a quality job with your reviews and hunts! What are the advantages of a reverse draw vs. the traditional crossbow? -
Morals/ ethics question: Does with fawns
Cabin Fever replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Deer Hunting
These 2 were still getting some milk from momma just a week ago! No, they don't "need" her milk to survive at this point. But, I also think they could benefit from having her around another month or two, to learn more survival skills (avoiding hunters, fatten up for winter, etc...). BTW, that one fawn looks really friggin' small! -
Spitfire vs wildfire (foxpro)
Cabin Fever replied to Woodjr55's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Does the Wildfire use the micro-SD cards? I have a Spitfire and it's a PITA swapping out the little dinky SD cards, especially with cold fingers! I've had it for years and it's worked great for me otherwise. -
A friggin' BEAUTY!! Congrats!!

Interesting! A neighbor just sent me a pic of what he believes to be bear claw marks on a tree. I would love to see a bear in the area! Have no intentions of shooting one, unless it was pretty huge.

I looked around while I was out doing stand prep and checking cams last month, but didn't see anything that resembled ginseng.

Box Blind Build That Got Out Of Hand, In A Good Way!
Cabin Fever replied to VT Outfitter's topic in Hunting Related Pictures
Did you say it was a box blind... or cabin?? LOL -
Just read on a PA hunting forum that law enforcement found 2 pipe bomb boobie traps in the area where the guy is believed to be hiding.

Great pic! I've caught opossums in the summer (NWCO), on three different occasions, that had 16 babys each!! Apparently, they can have 2 litters/yr too, so that adds up!!
-
Very nice!

Bet there are some pissed off hunters down in PA!! WOW!! He better hope a hunter doesn't find him!

Got in the stand and noticed a "blob" on a bare branch 4 feet from me. Curiosity was getting the best of me. After ~5min, I shined the flashlight on it. It was an owl that seemed just as curious about me, as I was of it! Was gonna get a pic, but had to stand and dig around in my pocket too much. It flew away! Cool experience though! Closest encounter with an owl that I've ever had! LOL

I really wanted an app for tracking, so I could back-track and get out of of thickets and unfamiliar areas easily, or get back to a previously found deer and easier/shorter way for dragging. I downloaded (but haven't tried yet) onXHunt, Hunt Stand Lite, Trimble GPS Hunt, and Backpacker GPS. Again, I haven't tried any yet, but they looked like they might do what I'm looking for. I'll have to test them out at camp soon. I also have ScoutLook, for wind direction vs. stand location.
