  1. Good info Culver! Guess I never would have thought of that!
  2. Going out, but don't have any expectations of killing a deer. Mainly, doing it to relax, enjoy the view, and to celebrate the season kick-off. Would rather hold off on filling any doe tags, until it's cooler, and I don't need to feel so "rushed" to get one cut up and in the freezer. (No electricity at camp, butcher myself, and would prefer to leave it hang a day or so.) I was on the fence about whether to take the opener off or not. I was out at camp yesterday doing some last minute jobs and it was absolutely beautiful with fall colors and relaxing! It was a still afternoon, birds were chirping, and it was very relaxing just watching the leaves falling, hearing them ticking off other leaves on their way down, as they slowly drifted to the ground. Made up my mind. that mentally, I need a day off to de-stress and unwind, and I know just the place to do it! Taking 3 days vacation off every week from Oct. 1st - Dec. 1st. (Can probably get use to working 2 days/wk! LOL) Plus, camp is right on my way home, so even if I do work, I get out early enough that I can hunt every afternoon/evening if I wanted to. Good luck, but most of all, BE SAFE everyone! Do yourself, your family, and friends a favor and PLEASE USE THOSE SAFETY HARNESSES!!!!
  3. Thanks! You mentioned Lyons, earlier, so I can swing by that one. It's a bit out of my way, but if no one else locally takes them, I'll do it.
  4. I called my local Elks Club last year to see if they were accepting deer hides, but they said that they've never heard of the program before! I told them it was in the newspaper that other Elks Clubs in the area were accepting them, but none close by. Maybe the person answering the phones where I called, shouldn't have been!
  5. Seems like a common theme! I was getting pics of ~10 bucks very regularly in the area all summer. For the past 2-3 weeks.... POOF...GONE! The crops (corn and apple orchards) surrounding my place has just started to ripen recently, so I was expecting activity to pick up. NO oaks anywhere in my area! Have 6 cams scattered, but have only gotten pics of a couple of scrub bucks for the past 2-3 weeks. Once they start lookin' for love, some of the better bucks will start filtering through.
  6. Oh Paula! Cuomo already knows he can't "sweet talk" you into a vote, so he needs to cater to the other..... well.... less fortunate, shall we say, to guarantee their votes.
  7. Yep. Sounds like it was planned out that way too, right before the election... Slimey SOB!
  8. Wasn't aware of this $350 refund? Just heard on the radio. Sounds like checks should arrive within the next week. http://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/news/local/2014/09/24/new-york-tax-rebate-checks-cuomo-astorino/16171235/
  9. Nice New Jersey buck! Great quality video too!
  10. According to their coverage map, it looks like I'd have good coverage, where I travel anyway. Even shows good coverage at camp. Surprising... I suppose if nothing else, it might be worth a call to Verizon and let them know that I'm considering jumping ship, unless they give me a comparable deal. I'm sure they've already lost a lot of business to Sprint, because of this new plan.
  11. Would like to hear experiences of those with Sprint? Coverage? Customer service? With the new family program http://www.sprint.com/landings/datashare/index.html?INTCID=AB:HERO:082214:FamilySharePack that they have (20GB shared data, unlimited talk and text, up to 10 lines, no contract, they give you $350/line for early termination fees for other cell carrier) for $100 a month ($80 with my work discount), it would save me ~$120+/month than what I'm paying with Verizon. Thinking about jumping ship...
  12. http://www.northcountryproducts-fingerlakeswhitetail.com/ I've used his scents for the past 2-3 years. Nothing against the scents, I just haven't had any luck using them. I buy directly from John's (the owner) farm and the scent is as fresh as it gets.
  13. Nice one! All hard horned and ready for action!
  14. Did you know he was around before you saw him (trailcam pics)? If not, that sure would have been a shock seeing a giant like that from the stand for the first time! LOL
  15. I've driven by a couple of times in the past week, but haven't stopped yet.
  16. Looks like it could be the same buck to me?
  17. Nice! Always gives me a warm-fuzzy-feeling to get my first hard horned pics of the year!
  18. He's a good one! He'll give you something to think about! Hope he shows up for you.
  19. That must have been a surprise to see when you checked the pics! LOL Very cool! That gets the blood going!
  20. I just checked and have a recent receipt. If ya want, I'll fill out the survey, when they email the $10 off coupon (instantly), I can email it to you? If interested, PM me your email address.
