  1. Peanut butter and salami sammich. Peanut butter and mayo sammich. I'm starting to see a pattern....
  2. I thought it was interesting that the guy with tracking dog said he's only recovered 1 or 2 "single" lung hit deer. I've been on a few suspected single lung hit blood trails and they are a bitch. Don't think any were recovered...
  3. You never cease to amaze Wooly! That's cool!
  4. Correction. The decoy that I got is "Ole Jack", not Primo's Scarface. https://www.amazon.com/Hard-Core-Brands-01-400-0001-Carrying/dp/B01LZMH53A/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Ole+Jack+Deer+Decoy&qid=1561958874&s=gateway&sr=8-1 It's really only about the size of a good sized fawn in the fall, so certainly not intimidating by no means. Sure does the trick though and draws in the bucks! LOL Looks like Walmart sells them for $83.
  5. Last fall, was very windy. I watched several different bucks pass by within 50-100 yards, but they couldn't hear my grunts or smell the scent that I put out. I was to the point that I thought if they couldn't hear or smell my "invisible" deer, the next best thing would be giving them something to see! I bought a cheap buck decoy (Primo's Scarface for like $79), because it was the only decoy that was available locally that I could pick up that same day. I never put the antlers on it, using it as a doe. I started using it towards the end of October and kept it hidden near my stand, so I didn't need to carry it in every day. I dare say that EVERY buck that saw it came right in on a string! They were locked onto the decoy the entire time! I think I could have tap danced in the stand and they wouldn't have paid a bit of attention to me! I had so much fun watching the bucks! None ever spooked! There was a small buck that fell in love with the decoy and would come bed down near it on several occasions! It actually stood 40 yards away one morning and watched me put the decoy up. As soon as I climbed into my stand, he excitedly came running over to the decoy and bedded down 10 yards from it! I had such an enjoyable season last fall, largely because of the using the decoy! The buck that I ended up shooting was 100% brought in because of the decoy.
  6. My son has always wanted to try a crawfish boil, so I found a place in LA that ships live crawfish overnight and delivered by noon the next day. I surprised my son and had him a crawfish boil for his birthday dinner! Turned out great! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  7. Damn that looks sweet Belo!! I traded my crew cab in last year when I got my Colorado. Figured since I didn't have kids to tote around anymore, I would just get the extended cab. BIG MISTAKE!! I miss having that full backseat for throwing our hunting stuff in, groceries, or whatever else I want to put back there! From now on, I'll gladly sacrifice 2' of bed space for that full back seat! Glad I only got a 2 year lease!
  8. I always pay extra for the Premium Economy seats. Usually 6" more legroom and gets me very close to the front. The prices can vary, depending on the flight. Sometimes as low as $15 more, but have seen them as high as $115 extra too. I'm strictly an aisle seat and I get as close to the front as possible! When those doors open, I want to get the hell off the plane and not wait. We just got back from New Orleans and my wife commented on how much better the Premium Economy seats were. On every flight we were in the first 6-8 rows.
  9. Congrats on the new bow and wheels Belo! Damn, that was one expensive day!! I know you've wanting a new bow for a couple years now! Man, there's something about getting a new bow that re-ignites that desire/passion to shoot! Sometimes I find myself going out to launch a few arrows, just to get it out of my system! LOL
  10. Long story short, my mother has dementia and it's getting worse. I've been searching for days to find a reliable Senior Medical Alert type monitoring unit that can be worn around the neck, with GPS tracking capabilities, so she can push a button to get help AND so I can track her location on my smartphone. At this point, she's independent and is getting along fairly well, but her gears are definitely "slipping" more. I've looked into so many the past couple of days that my head is spinning. I had to start writing various brands down and why they failed to meet my needs, just to keep them straight. I'm hoping to find one that uses Verizon cell signal, as ATT doesn't get reliable signal in her area. (That really narrows down my options!) I finally found what I thought to be a pretty good option (Jitterbug), but after reading 100+ reviews, it got pretty much 1 out of 5 stars... It sucks and so does customer service. I think Jitterbug was the only one I found that had the GPS tracking capabilities app. Right now, I'm even considering GPS tracking devices that at least have an SOS button on them. I guess I just thought it might be worth a shot to post a question here, incase someone has any first hand experience with devices like these... Good or bad?
  11. Congrats TF and biggamefish! I'm off tomorrow and was on the fence whether I wanted to give it one more try or not. I was leaning towards "no", but since it sounds like there are still some vocal and love sick gobblers out there, I guess I'll drag my ass out of bed at 3am for one last hunt of the season.
  12. Happy Birthday Rob! Have an extra piece of cake for me!!
  13. I just read a very impressive article in NY Outdoor News about one of our own being named the QDMA 2019 Branch President of the Year! Congrats Bob @Culvercreek hunt club!! I hope you don't mind me posting this, but it's such an achievement and honor, that I couldn't let it slip by unrecognized! I know you impressed and inspired so many of us with your dedication to the Field to Fork program, promoting the venison donation program, and your efforts organizing the QDMA banquets. God only knows what all you do behind the scenes too!! https://www.qdma.com/bob-rose-of-new-york-earns-qdmas-2019-branch-president-of-the-year/ You're the man Bob!!! Congrats!
  14. Happy Birthday Grampy!! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  15. That's a SWEET ride Brian!! If you decide to sell the other, let me know.
  16. I watched 2 hens feeding in a ~12" tall wheat field yesterday morning. All of a sudden, they squatted and disappeared. I was only 35 yards away from them and on a knoll, but I could get a glimpse of them every now and then. I figured they were on a nest and safer there then in a hedgerow, where nest raiders would probably be patrolling.
  17. First gobble at 5:00 on the dot! Earliest I've heard yet! Thunder and lightening in the distance, just a bit south, moving west to east. Hope it stays south! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
