  1. I pull mine for gun, deer are too spooky and are in thick stuff. And also that’s when they disappear.
  2. Food grade, sams club has a restaurant section with food grade bowls, knives, cutting stuff at very reasonable prices.
  3. The totes are necessary if you process your own! I get mine at sams club.
  4. Ain’t no chance I’m going out in this crap, good luck all.
  5. Gonna skip the morning hunt and can some meat, go out with dad and my son in the evening. Neighbor signed over a 7s tag so I can hunt for something besides a bear.
  6. Nice! I’m also out of my 5 tags, gotta get the neighbors doe tag so I can hunt more!
  7. I boil, pressure wash at car wash with soap (wear rain gear and goggles) the. Pick clean. Use 40 volume mixed with quick white from the hair store. Cover in plastic so it didn’t dry overnight. Rinse off next day and let dry in sun or by fire.
  8. Doe came up the hill at 7:30 and got hit with a 6.5 Grendel bullet at 70 yards. She went 50 yards and fell over. Pass through great hole. Had a lung chunk 20 yards into blood trail. Officially tagged out, until my neighbor signs over a second doe tag to me.
  9. Dads not feeling well so not coming out, neighbor signed another doe tag over so now I have two. Guess I’m goin hunting.
  10. Everything pretty much I kill is from a stand, just about all my properties are small and walking around would just ruin them.
  11. 200 yard shot, 6.5 Grendel in just in front of shoulder, hit off side leg bone and shattered it. Quarter size holes in both sides of rib cage. Recovered lead projectile and looks good. Hornaday black 123 grain ammo. Yes I know it’s a match bullet but researched it on forums and watched multiple ballistic tests and it’s almost identical if not better than ssts out of a 16” barrel.
  12. Tompkins is an animal in itself, if you can get private do EVERYTHING you can to keep it. But only being out 3 days and not seeing a deer is not bad yet. Keep at it and it will happen.
  13. good luck on the recovery efforts, will be chasing pheasants again around noon!
  14. 4.5 would be correct, I am going to mail the lower jaw to confirm. i have a history with this buck and didn't even know it when i shot. last year he broke every one of his tines off in archery and had two long main beams left with no points. he was 3.5 then. I weighed him with a muddy hanging scale, im not sure that thing is always accurate however.
  15. Welp pheasant hunting didn’t last long, put up two hens buddy got both, put up a cock bird I got him, then I stalked 10 birds and shot a cock bird on the ground.
  16. I’ll add, that buck hanging weight was over 190 on my cheap scale. Not in a crop area, plenty of oaks and green fields. 17.5 inside spread
