  1. Back when I worked for the DEC a few years ago we had a Giant Hogwood crew that was funded through grant money. This was a group of only 4 guys out of the Cortland office in Region 7. Last I knew they were down to two guys... Hopefully they have more crews by now, this stuff is nasty.
  2. More or less all around. I like the lighter stuff like early season for me it's easier to manuver around in. When it gets closed I just later up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Which else do you suggest? I haven't been paying attention really to the clothing market as of late because I haven't really needed any. looking for some scent free clothing...

    Camo

Looking at getting some of the new under armour camo this year. Not sure which line yet. Anyone using this stuff? I have had mix review on it. I have dream season Scent Blocker now that I have wore right out.
  5. Happy birthday guys, thanks for sharing all your knowledge!
  6. They look good. Not sure i am a fan of the chiseled tip. I see tips like that tend to get stuck in bone rather than break it. I suppose you could always file the tip down.
  7. yup all the time. they work very well.
  8. tough decision, you mentioned you may miss deer hunting and the fishing opportunities are great out there although you are more of a hunter than a fisherman. Possibly you get into fishing just as much as you like hunting. I personally love both. The hunting may not be the same up there as it is down here, but still it's hunting. Could be worse.
  9. I have used them for 2 years now and worth every penny. I have mine paired up with a Kicks choke. the patterns are very impressive out to 60+ yards. If I can find a picture I will post it. Kicks says not to use the hevi shot but I did a lot of research and no one has had a problem with it & neither have I. All in all if you think about it, how many shells do you actually shoot a year? I will gladly pay 30 dollars for a box of 5 shells if I keep getting results like I get.
  10. Almost had bird 2 this morning, they are not being too cooperative. Had 2 jakes and a longbeard come in this morning silent after a few gobbles off roost. Saw my deke and went running for the hills. Very frustrated. Getting to the point where I'm going to have to start patterning them and not call. Getting to be like hunting deer. That's late season for ya.
  11. worked fine with me. it sent me right to a person in Albany. She said it was new this year (interacting with a actual person instead of the computer). I knew this system was coming for a while now as I am a former DEC employee in Region 7. It will take a while to get the kinks out as always.
  12. We have a farmer lease our hunting land for crops. A few years back he had always had corn in this 10 acre field since we had the land. He switched one year to soybeans to try and replenish the nitrogen in the soil. It was one of my best years for seeing deer from bow hunting season all the way into late December. If you were to sit on that field you could bank on seeing at least 10-15 deer a night and they would come out all over. I am not quite sure what seed they used but I am always been a firm believer in soybeans. It seems as though you need a bigger acreage plot for it because the deer put a hurting on it. If you were to have a small plot, it would kinda be a wash.
  13. Better telling when the leaves are out
  14. $70 transaction fee on that one store, high way robbery
  15. 22 lbs. 11 1/2 in beard 1 1/2 in spurs was my biggest bird.
  16. Was in the market for a new pair of binos. Have been in a fuss between the Vortex diamondback binos and the Nikon Monarch 5 both in 10x42. I have read some great things on both and just wondering if anyone had some input on these. Thanks
