  1. Permathin / permanone clothing spray - treatment, it drys into the material. Don't get in on your skin. Oh - watch for lime disease. There's a link about it on the pathfinder site (sig).
  2. The only way to find out is to get out there and make it happen. But unless you don't have any time off I might not depend on any particular weekend. Good luck & good hunting.
  3. Hey, if this is a QDM thread, then why isn't it in the QDM section? > Getting kind of sick of all the AR posts around here trying to blow smoke up my @ss.
  4. Twice. But in each case I was driving in the area fresh to the scene. One deer the officer had to put it down as 3 legs were broken. The other one had a little more damage from the hit I actually saw. But 1 loin & most of the rest was salvageable. In each case the driver did not want the deer and the officer filled out a possesion tag. Funny thing / side story, on the one were I saw it get hit my kids were with me, btw they love venison. Once we finally got home & I got the deer out of the Jeep I figgured hey, lets get some KFC. Ok so give me a minute to wash off all the blood first, oh no. They wanted me to go as I was so they could stand behind me while I was placing the order and point & whisper "help us".
  5. Yupp, they are out there, walking among us. The media must be under pressure to sell advertising space again.
  6. Well the Turkeys like the plot Whats growing there?
  7. Looks like a nice bear! We need some details Man!
  8. 6K (260) Frack! But none from 7R, I don't get that - well I'm not getting nothing out of this draw either so thems the breaks.
  9. Well I practice out to 30 in the backyard, on occasion out to 40 at the club. The buck I took was a 30+ (32 ranged) right on the money. But out to 40 from a stand might be pushing it. Am I certain the lane is clear etc. Tell you what realy improved shot confidence this year was the 3-D. But even so, I'd say anything over 40 walks.
  10. For bowhunting treestands are the way to go. Doesn't seem to matter what kind - ladder, climber, hang on, matter of preference and how best to get into a particular tree. Climbers are great for day runs, state land, and checking out possible spots where you might not be sure you want a permanent stand or need to set up sticks etc. Blinds are great for foul weather but being up in a tree in the rain isn't all bad if your prepared. Blinds are also great for spots with a slight overview into an area where your gun hunting. Or maybe where the trees are nonsence and you can't get a stand in.
  11. I would basicaly agree with that. Just thinking it's gotta be a job just getting to a stand in the winter - in the zones this MZ late season runs.
  12. Generaly speaking, I would prefer two does over an average buck - anyday.
  13. I've taken some of my best deer (slug) & Birds of of state land, you just need to do your homework. Anyhow aside from the 7pnt they were all under 40 yards.
  14. I wouldn't take the chance either. Having said that adjacent to one side of my lease is a Huge swamp bordering 3 other properties, and I heard a few duck hunters since the opener. But it could be a proximity thing to - I'm up 3 deer durring all that.
  15. You must have done some tree surfing! Nice Buck.
  16. Damn fine slammin` Buck! Good Hunting.
  17. I would just like to note something about cleaning the deer we take. I am not bragging at all but I would rather like to know if others agree in some way. This year so far I have processed 4 deer, 3 of my own and 1 a buddie took with a bow. Basicaly that's 3 by bow, & one by Muzz/gun within 3 weeks time vs. 2 or 3 over the course of the whole season. I think when many of us take deer we may tend to check the shot damage or placement, but perhaps skip over what I reminded myself of - another reason why I took up Bowhunting. The Bow kills were - clean. I mean sure there was blood loss, that's the point but there was so much less colateral damage to the meat. In other words, imo the bow takes were easier, maybe even quicker to process. Rifle shot through the cage? That works unless maybe your after the ribs.
  18. That's kinda what I was thinkin`.
  19. She toppled over after stumbling for maybe 10 yards. Bullet did not pass through. When I finished cleaning it up there was massive damage & coagulation to one side in the lower shoulder area, found about 1/3 of the round half shroomed up. So I lost some meat there. But as a consolation I took my 18v cut saw and saved the ribs.
  20. source http://www.cnbc.com/id/39554936?__source=vty|remingtondoc|&par=vty --snip Remington 700 Rifle More than five million Model 700-series rifles have been sold, bringing in hundreds of millions of dollars for Remington. Famous for its accuracy and easy trigger pull, the gun is popular among hunters. Remington calls the 700-series the “firearm of choice” for America’s military and law enforcement communities. The Controversy A 10-month CNBC investigation revealed thousands of complaints and more than 75 lawsuits stemming from alleged inadvertent discharges from the Remington 700. At least two dozen deaths and more than one hundred injuries have been linked to a possible design flaw in Remington's 700-series bolt-action rifle. Remington stands by its rifle, and maintains it is safe and reliable and that the accidents are a result of improper maintenance and unsafe handling. --snip Note: page - souces looks like it will be edited at times. I have to wonder, if any of these accidents were from modified actions, triggers, etc.
