None so far where I am in 6k either, and i hope they don't get up that far! Got enough coyotes.

Thinkin for gun season something like that might be ok for a permanent stand. But for Bow season - just my imo - way to much in the way. I have a spot on the lease where something along the lines of a fort - box stand would cover any swampwalkers durring reg season. And I suppose the material you guys are using would be much easier to work with then a complete enclosure.

Never saw much sence in a 10 yard pin myself. I have the CJ deadnuts hunter plus 3 pins 20-30-40. I feel so ordinary. :-\

Yeah I'm not so sure about soaking venison in brine either. I think if your good about dressing the meat and avoid tainting it then there should be nothing odd about it. At least nothing a little seasoning & garlic salt can't solve.

I was going to go on & on about getting out there in the rain, but it wasn't so windy for the NZ opener. Bummer - how about push it back a day & take Monday off? No way - no way, well - if your camping somewhere and can sneek out between storms is one thing, but a long drive & tree surfing in horizontal misery rain is another. Just thinking how safe is that.

I do not. However before I 'park' I am duly harnessed and I make sure it has a solid grip. I also avoid certain smooth / hard bark trees.

On a prior season bow hunt (WMA) I was up in my climber near a known route. Had a 4 pnt. turn around and go right under my stand where I dropped a few drops of doe piss once in a while. Btw it was Tinks from walmart. Other then that I think it's mostly just another gimic - attractant any deer may be or not be curious about. This year I haven't used a drop of piss, up 2 so far. Rather spend my money on good camo & boots, oh wait I did that.

I think coyotes 'cull' to many fawns as it is.

It would seem like a good idea, I mean maybe take the 22mag or .243 out for a walk and all. But if the access road by camp isn't plowed (and w/winter off the tug hill area) - I am not counting on getting up there after December untill March. Plus I agree deer will go where they can spend as little energy as they can to find food.

20ft; Yupp know the exact mess your talking about that loggers leave behind. Some will say the postive side is that will create fresh mast in the short term, and freshen the forest, or something like that. Best of luck in that spot. Btw, try not to let the 30 yard shots get the best of you. My 2nd deer was 32 yards. Sounds like the practice will pay off.

Hunting a side of state land 7M I found a grave site for a WWI corporal. It was sort of fencd off with long branches and cleared a bit. Part of the fence was busted so I fixed it up best I could and cut down some weeds around the stone.

Well even in rifle areas most spots I have I'm lucky to have a shot past 100 yards. Having said that I hunted so long in shotgun only - smoothbore I trust what I can do. Having said that I'd realy like to take a deer with my new MZ. Perhaps I'll let the weather be the deciding factor. In what way? Frack if I know at the moment but I can't let so many choices disctract me. :-\
