  1. Exactly! That cash could be for land, equipment, tires, fuel etc.
  2. Well now this should bring the haters here back out of the woodwork. We can read all about how Ted is so bad. We can read all about how Ted shit his pants. We can read all about how Ted is a draft doger. We can read all about how Ted is a poacher. We can read all about how Ted is to radical to represent sportsmen. We can read all about all the other flimsy material the haters can dig up, because, my god if you arn't a Ted hater groupie you must be one of those guys who kiss his ass and want him to be president. hillary loves the haters.
  3. I quit back in `82. Stationed in SanDiego at the time, heard about a visual crash course. Understand at the time things like that could be done without a bunch of crybaby naggin nanny liberals claiming to be offended. Went into a studio, like a small auditorium. There was a brightly lit table with two covered displays. This guy comes into the room, I dunno if he was a doctor or just some morbid volunteer, but he asked for quiet and attention, then uncovered the displays. Two sections of lungs, one healthy, one from a smoker. All he did was slice them both open. The smokers lung was gross, I mean realy gross. Looked like a human oil filter mixed with the bottom of a grill. Image still in my mind. Back then cigs were cheap. Now adays I hear it's the cost of a good lease.
  4. For 10$ you can try it, I've used real feathers as decoy makeup. If it's a full Tom my advice would be to cut the beard down to 5-6" and trim some tail feathers so it looks more like an intruder jake then a boss tom. And yeah be cautious.
  5. Damn impressive traffic in that field. That was a mixed seeding of sorts wasn't it? Just wondering if you had planted 2-3 weeks later what the results would be.
  6. AAHHHHH !! 3 days and a wake up. I am Junk at work right now.
  7. I use a small cut of felt on the rest to help quiet draw noise.
  8. Public land 7pnt. Buck taken from my climber & .243 700VLS 100gr gameking. Aprox. 130 yard shot. He went about 35 yards & dropped. Awsome blood trail. Wasn't having much luck on private land bow season so I hit one of my favorite WMA's.
  9. I love spinach and broccoli. Except broccoli dosen't like me - I could gass out an acre at a time eating that.
  10. I didn't think I'd have anything to add to this thread but my two cents so here it goes. Got into a new lease this year so i tried a different approach with the neighbors. Granted being out in the middle of almost nowhere means they are not always going to be there etc. But wel in advance of anything going on this fall I figgured when I notice them around I'd introduce myself so they would at least feel better about knowing who's 50 acres away. Long story short one of my neigbors has a well that I now have access to, we have a standing agreement on tracking deer either way. Property on another side is separated by a huge swamp that nobody in their right mind would cross. But I introduced myself anyways. The whole approach gives us all a comfort factor not to mention possible help in any tracking or emergency. Flip side; another spot SZ where my buddie is at war with one of the neigbors, almost got into a fight over a doe. Now how much cooperation do you think I'd get there? One reason I took my money & resources elsewhere, s*** happens. On state land, met a land owner who's property was next to some wma. I guess he figgured I wanted to hunt on his land but once he realised it wasn't the case we had a decent conversation. His real gripe was people on 4 wheelers & snowmobiles. I was able to recover a deer that dropped on his feild with zero problems. What's my point? Well, I'm not sure, but I think alot of recovery problems could be avoided if people take the time and inquire, ask, and have permission.
  11. Lots of does! - Should mean ther bucks will follow. I'm seeing plenty of cover for a natural blind to the left. :-\
  12. Have bottle holders in 3 stands. Also going to do a mock scrape, just not sure where yet. Hoping to find an active one near a trail or path where I can get in with the climber, and freshen it up. Kind of like an expirament. If I'm feeling healthy and not taking any cold medication etc. Did that last year in a different spot and it produced more activity, just not when I was in that particular stand.
  13. The chef hat for your tree stand, anyone else use them? I needed another one and a spare, and happened to be at Gander. Whopping 8$ a peice this year, I could swear I paid 5$ for one last year. Next day I'm at BPS Auburn, and what do you know, they have some too for 7$. Now accrost the street there's a Dick's sporting goods. You guessed it, 4.99$ I think next time I need something like that I'll remember that place first. They also had some smoking deals on treestands, BPS didn't realy. It was like business as usuall there.
  14. Got 1 of my dmp's for 7r. Were high chance for both. Hey it's a crap shoot.
  15. Went to put the seat & cover up in the stand near the plot last weekend. No, they an't hitting the plot at all. But you can clearly see where there are 2-3 bedding spots right in it, and the tracks. Softer ground, good view, glad I could accommodate them. :-X
  16. I'm so wound up for bow season this year fall Turkey seems like a target of opertunity thing. But, it is a blast to bust up a flock and keekee some back in. We'll see how it goes.
  17. I've always thought hunting is more of a traditional way of life, not a competition. Seems to me this AWA outfit has another agenda.
  18. 9 days to go! Get er done - slackers :-\ I might have to see my doctor early next week, seem to have a sinus cold working up damn it. Get some nuclear antibiotics.

  20. Well, they eart whole hard shell corn all the time - you'll see them in and out of corn feilds, and places where manure is spread. They also swallow pebbles. One way to help break up substance. I don't think acorns would be to much of a challege for them.
  21. I'd say your screwed for this year but if it's not being logged again it'll improve. you'll have shooting lanes, possible plot areas, swampy areas could dry out, new growth seems to attract. But it depends on what you can do there and you need to look at it over the long term. Thats about as positive as I can be about it. Short term I've seen the mess some loggers can leave behind. You'll have ruts, piles of junk cuts, some trash, pollution - you think those trucks they use are oil tight? They're not going to care about scar damage to anything they need to cross to get to and drag out the trees. I remember when the DEC let parts of Tioughnioga get logged. Holy frackin disaster area left behind. They completely leveled area's you could fit stadiums into. Tore it up. That was a few years ago and nature is just now starting to recoup the area, a little. And all the scrap is still there.
