  1. Its about the worse case scenario for the anti crowd. Cayuga heights is a area where sterilization has a real foothold and very well may be come reality. This will blow up when it finally hits mainstream media and as WNY said its going to be a huge black eye on the hunting community. Cute - I think if it were as originally stated the source would be a liar.
  2. I don't worry about it much. Still have yet to run into a bear in the woods. Seen a couple driving around but never while hunting. I have ran into more than a couple up at my camp in the ADKs. Only time i ever got worried was from coming back from checking the waterline and ran into a cub (before mama). I moved a little quicker than normal then. Came walking out of the pines one night on the tractor trail and when i crested the rise i saw a yote about the size of a German Shepard standing broad side at 45-50 yards. I knocked an arrow and got within about 30 yards and started to draw before he took off. We had a full moon and it was like walking around at grey light in the morning. What really freaked me out was when i started my walk in one morning and must have jumped a rabbit to a fox. There was a bunch of rustling in the golden rod and briars then the most god awful scream you would care to hear at about 10 yards. I had goose bumps for a bout an hour. Earlier this season while looking for a deer i had an owl scream (not hoot). After freezing for a minute it started hooting but it was enough for me to think things over. I always have a head lamp on my head (but not usually on). But its close enough if I want to take a quick look at something its no big deal to flip it on quick and have a look around.
  3. I am in the same boat. Only i am moving. Hope to get out Sunday after church.
  4. Like doe says get a larger brace height 7+ inches. They are more forgiving. I would suggest to try and not get caught up on the whole speed craze. A small brace height, aggressive cams, lots of draw weight all equal a "twitchy bow". You can get lots of custom stuff done (blacked out limbs - custom dips etc. etc.) I really wouldnt worry about the look of the bow, i would focus on the accuracy aspect. That being said if i had to do something to make it look cool i would get a custom dip in ASAT camo or something along those lines. Hunters Friend Take a look at the above site and do a lot of reading (right hand side under buying guides and technical). You will gain a lot.
  5. Or a couple rigs like these ones Look for Top Truck Challenge on You Tube or the net for more of these.
  6. You could build a Uni-mog custom for about a 1/4 that price that would go through anything that can and more (minus the explosives part of course).
  7. Well said Not everyone has the time, ground or ability to drop something "nice". Anyway like it was already said it may be a trophy to the person who took it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
  8. I pretty much do some variation of this. Figure out what the other pumpkins are doing and set up according to that.
  9. Had to be 15+ on the north and south bound lanes of 390 today between Henrietta and Mt. Morris. Some were no more than blood baths in the road with bits and pieces on the shoulders. A co worker saw a nice 10 pt cruising for does (Wyoming co.) at about 8:30 on his way to our meeting and another co worker i was taking to was standing on his deck watching a big 8 run a doe where he lives out by Albany.
  10. Here we go again. I wish we had a popcorn smiley on this forum.
  11. All i am going to say is i am going to try like hell to make sure i never sell a house or have to move during dear season again.
  12. Ill be moving to the rental #$@# 3@@#$ #$ @#$@#!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. That buck was shot in KY years ago. http://www.northamericanwhitetail.com/2010/09/22/trophybucks_naw_0907_02/
  14. You could throw 9K in that mix as well.
  15. 12 years hunting with a gun, 8 with a bow. 2005 hit a wide racked six point in the neck after jumping the string at 15 yards. I drew blood but was not a fatal wound. Same deer shot on the adjacent property the next year during gun (confirmed it with the scare on the neck). 2010 lost, lost my first deer (liver hit with a bow). Looked for about 12 - 14 hours over three days and could not recover him. Neighbor found him 5 days later.
  16. Shouldn't have a problem changing the subject with that comment. At least you wouldn't if this were Archery Talk, but the more time passes the more i think this is AT.
  17. I put a box through the BOB back in August and would put a couple more rounds through it this week if i were able to hunt but i am not going to make it out.
  18. ASAT, Predator, vertigo, Cabelas outfitter, Military patterns are all good. Twigs, branches and leaves don't fly with me. I switched to a ASAT leafy suite.
  19. I busted my ass getting mine done before bow season. I have had the last two weeks off (for hunting) but spent them packing the house and looking at houses / rentals. Now guess when i am moving? That's right a week from today - HA. Funny how this crap works out. I couldn't have planned it better if i had tried.
