You got me excited when you said Glens Falls for Roosterfish because I am about 20 minutes away from there, but after my google search it looks like you meant Watkins Glen. Let me know how it is, always looking for a reason to travel on the weekends!

I have had the Heady topper about 2 weeks ago, from what I hear they produce limited amounts and it sells out pretty fast and costs a pretty penny. Overall it was alright to me, I could of got an Ithaca 6 pack of flower power and been just as happy . Lately I have been enjoying my local brewshops where I get my growler filler between $10-$18 a fill up. One of my all time favorites was a Double Tap Maple Porter.

Anyone Camp the Great Sacandaga Lake?
UpstateNomad90 replied to UpstateNomad90's topic in Camping and Hiking
Thanks Elmer! I will take a good look at these and also that website is awesome, I like how I can see photos of the site so a double thank you! -
Encourage the move up! If they are asking her it is because they see potential in her skills and want to place her around higher skilled players to see how she does. But remember one thing, to your daughter it might be something she enjoys because her friends are around. Moving up might lose the enjoyment factor because it is people she doesn't know. Ask your daughter and see what she wants being a youth it isn't make or break to a career.

Contender 35 Rem.

My dad use to have this barrel for his contender and liked it for the most part. He could shoot pretty accurate with it for iron sights. He ended up selling this barrel and getting a 30-30 barrel just because ammo was cheaper and easier to find for it. -
What kayak for fishing/deer hunting?
UpstateNomad90 replied to MACHINIST's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I think you are nuts to think of a Kayak for that reason, even a sit on top would be risky. The way I look at is gear weight, your weight, deer weight would be pushing a kayak to its limits. Better off with a 16 foot aluminum canoe that can hold amount 100 lbs more than a tandem yak. I would hit up some local garage sales and see what you can find for an old Aluminum canoe, I got one for a present that only cost $100 with a trolling motor. I also like how the canoe has a deeper hull, with less risk of getting gear wet or falling off. -
I am looking for a campground, that can be either state owned or privately owned doesn't bother me. But what I am really wanting is a tent site that sits right on/near the water. I have seen campgrounds listed around the lake and all but I was wondering if anyone has any first hand knowledge of campgrounds that have sites where I can sit in my chair all day and fish ha. Location on the lake doesn't matter, I will travel to any part. Also I don't care if there is power or running water. Anyone ever camp around this lake and have a recommendation?

Are you looking for back country spots on ponds/river/lakes or are you looking for a pay to stay place?

Anyone been out on the sound lately? I am heading out this weekend to do the annual fishing trip and I am excited as ever, just need this short work week to fly by.

I caught a pretty big pickerel this weekend myself, only problem was I was in my Kayak and gym shorts, I kept fearing the thing would fall in the cockpit of the boat and want revenge. After deciding to gill the fish the pry the hook out I felt the teeth and got nervous. My guess is a 20-21 inch pickerel and about 2 pounds. Was a fun fight though!

Well if DEC didn't know before, they might know now haha. Good thing this is a "hypothetical" post -

Damn that beard is almost on the ground. Nice photos and active spot.

Dumb question, but I work with plastics and a sure sign of PVC is the skunk like smell. Does the PVC material let off a skunk smell during installation or just during weathering?

You guys must of not cooked the boar right. I got a leg from a hunt I went on in Florida and turned it into a chili of a sort and it came out awesome. I did soak mine in a brine for 24 hours, then I cooked it in the oven for a couple hours. Next drained the juices into a pot, added peppers, rice, broth, pulled the meat off the bones and added little things here and there. Came out awesome.

tired of just having a job? get a career with benifits!
UpstateNomad90 replied to G-Man's topic in NY Area Job Board
Aw, No openings for Albany. I consider myself pretty lucky. I graduated last May with a BA in Environmental Studies and had a job offer before graduation. Pays the bills for the time being, but I am always looking for the next step. Someone on here should have a insider info for an Environmental major I would hope -
I signed on tonight specifically for this thread, I had a slow night on the Hudson, But my buddy landed a nice 1.5 fall fish and a nice 2 pound bull head. Hoping in the coming weeks things will pick up. I have to get my pin this year from the state for catching a 10 pound+ cat fish, so I am sure I will be catching plenty of bullheads.
