  1. I will agree with this statement. However (imo) guys (and gals) may tend to be a little bit more picky since they have the additional 2 weeks. I do foresee an increase in harvests but I don't think it will be a significant increase.
  2. Yes I have only ever seen 1 up there and she is dead now. I shot her back in 2009. There is a pic on here somewhere as I posted a pic of her.
  3. No I am not planning on pounding away with it. Just looking at a cheaper solution to start shooting more. Tired of paying $30 for 20 rounds of ammo. If my calculations are correct I can reload a box of 20 for about $9.20. Thinking about getting the following: Bullets- Remington 140 gr core lokt soft points Primer- Remington No. 9 1/2 Powder- Hodgdon H4350
  4. Culver I am shooting a Remington Model 7600 .280. I am buying a set of full length dies. I would assume that the neck sizing die would come into play after reloading the same brass several times or shooting competition?
  5. Gthphtm the kit that I am going to purchase is going to have the pocket primer cleaning brush and the deburring tool. Yes my .280 is all factory, nothing special about it. But I am seeing a concensus that I need to purchase a hand primer. I am assuming that the shell holders are compatible with any hand primer? Larry does Remington make a reloading book? I have never seen their book yet. Seems to me a lot of the books that I am seeing are made from the "powder" manufactorer.
  6. Thanks Lawd. Little tid bits like that, that you don't think about when you buy certain equipment. I can't wait til I start reloading.
  7. Yes I am planning on buying a digital caliper and some ammo boxes. I was thinking about a hand primer but will pass on that until I save up a little more money. My intentions are buying a shotgun press next year so I will probably buy the hand primer then. The chronograph will come with time. Great info guys keep it coming thanks.
  8. Still looking. My boss uses Redding and stated that they make a really good product. I am going halves on it with another guy that I work with.
  9. To prime the case you have to manually feed it into an arm on the front of the press. No the case preparation kit does not come with a case trimmer. Luckily for me I have saved my rifle brass so I have over 200 rounds of my .280 brass. As for my 40 cal brass I will just have to wait til the dept goes to the range again then I will get a good supply. Culver- I was looking at that tumbler on Midway earlier today before I posted here. I saw a lot of good reviews and some that made me shy away. People complained about the plastic tub cracking. I guess nothing a little epoxy probably couldn't fix. What kind of media are you using in it? How long do you run the tumbler?
  10. Ok I am going to start reloading my own ammo, ie (.280, 40 cal, .270 etc.). I am going to purchase the Redding Big Boss Pro Pac which comes with Press, Powder and bullet scale, powder trickler, pad style case lube kit, deburring tool, case preparation kit, powder funnel and Hogodon Reloading manual. I am also going to purchase the dies that I need from Redding and the shell holders and the powder measure. Just wondering if there is anything else that is a must to get started i.e. tumbler or ultra sonic case cleaner (which do you prefer). Looking for any information or tools that you have that may be helpful. Thanks, Bushnell
  11. I got bit about a week and a half ago. I felt something bite my elbow so I swated at it and it bit me again. This time I smacked my elbow to have the spider fall onto my shirt. Must say that my bite was nothing like yours though (Wooly). Mine just itched for about a half an hour and got a little red. It appeared to be a little garden spider. I did however report it to my chief as I was working at the time incase I fell over dead. However I am going to have to agree with (Growalot) on this one. You should have probably had it looked at by medical personnel.
  12. Been a slow year in the office this year. Some choc covered pretzels, cookies, fudge, trail mix, bbq, and on the menu today is venison chili. UMM
  13. My sightings this year compared to last year were about the same. Fewer bucks this year but that is how it goes in the area I hunt. 1 year I may see 2-3 buck. The next year I may not see any. I did get a buck this year. But the rest of the guys I hunt saw the least amount of deer that they have ever seen. I talked to a gentleman who archery hunts and he stated that he saw quite a few deer during archery and they disappeared come rifle. But hey this is why they call it hunting. If it was easy everybody but the animal rights people would do it. IMO
  14. 8 guys- Killed 3 buck (8pt, 6pt, spike) Missed (1 buck, 2 doe) Total deer seen- 14 different deer G-man congrats on the season you and your gang are having. And congrats to all who have harvested.
  15. No way the wife stays home. Sometimes I go to the woods to escape her.
  16. Alright my Christmas wish list is a new scope, new pair of boots and a Grizzly Jointer.
  17. I have done it and wont do it again. Its not that I felt bad but it seemed to take to long to expire. So now I walk to within 15 yards and put another round into the neck. By just shooting them in the neck they seem to expire more quickly.
  18. Here is the spike buck that I took on the 2nd day of the season. Shot him at 2:30 p.m. 100 yard shot and ran about 40 yards. Not a monster but a trophy!!
  19. Ticks are bad this year. (Speaking from PA) I have taken roughly 15 off of my clothing this year. I just kill them when I pick them off. (That little bastard won't climb on me anymore). Just check yourself real good when you get home. Best of luck to those taking to the woods this weekend.
  20. Sit all day and enjoy being there sharing the day with the outdoors. Remember it is better than being at work!
