I would shoot the mother if she had her fawn/yearling with her. You can't guarantee me that the fawn/yearling would make it through the winter/predators even if the mother was still alive.
The evenings are more productive during archery season. The morning seems to be more productive during rifle/shotgun season. I prefer mornings though. I just like the thought of not knowing what may have moved in over the night time hours.
I am not against drinking, but I am against drinking in the woods with a loaded firearm/bow. They just don't mix. Drinking after the hunt is great especially with your buddies and family around the fire or a game of cards. Leave the alcohol at CAMP.
Butchering my own deer is something that I want to get into. I have never butchered my own deer. I have taken all mine to a butcher. So when it comes time to learn I will come to this site for answers and tips.
